New patch has a virus/malware ?

ESET Smart Security prevents installing newest patch with message that Win32/Packed.Themida threatens my system. Would like to hear what's going on in Vertigo? You really need to hire an expert in some areas. If you care, that is. Or if you want to get rich one day...

P.S. For those with the same problem: you will have to make an exception in your AV programe, best to include whole folder Papaya\*.* or whatever you have!

..same problem here. Hope they soon make another patch for this patch

I have the same problem.  @NomenNesci0 you're saying with ESET to allow (or "Exclude") the Dekaron folder?  I'm trying different settings with that and not having  any luck so far.

But aside from that, even before this patch, I was only able to log into the game maybe once in every 100 tries.

Go to Setup, then Computer protection, then Advanced setup (at bottom), then Exclusions, then Edit and there add the main path where all of your Dekaron files are (C:\Papaya\Dekaron Online\*.* - this is mine, change path according to your situation). This only works if ESET prevents patching, but if Dekaron.exe in bin folder got deleted, you will have to copy a file from somewhere (someone can send you) but you will have to turn off (temporarily for 10 mins) your antivirus protection. It has less than 4 MB, so that should not be a problem.

Sounds like all of this is on the client side. Not the hosting provider and not Papaya. :)

We are talking here about a virus in the latest patch as detected by ESET Smart Security & Antivirus programes. People can't play because of that. Patch was provided by Papaya. How can this be our fault? Or are we expected to have 2nd rate AV protection or none at all, in order to play? As you have probably noticed, I always find a way to circumvent the problem and play, but I am not an average player and most of the people should be able to play smoothly without dodging the system, or having special knowledge in networking, computing, IT and such! With your comments you are just taking Papayas side and not helping at all. I wonder why?

@NomenNesci0 ok I apologize for this. I am sorry. As I commented in the other post/thread maybe different problems or fixes are the cause or can help. I jumped the gun and automatically thought that my problem/fix would help everyone without taking into consideration different things. I too am/was frustrated by the issues I was having and decided to try to figure it out. I then, like the geek or nerd i am decided to try to figure it out. I now understand that not everone is able to do this and not everyone is having problems with it being on the client side. If there is anything I can do to help get ppl back into the game or questions for me that ppl have please feel free to ask or bring it to my attention. No i do not work for papaya or even dekaron and am not associated in them in anyway. I am just a player that has been around since two moons and have also seen many problems and issues arise with many different ppl and companies.

OK mate, let us all put a pressure on Papaya to employ some GM that actually cares and knows when to ask for council or help (like [GM]Dragon was) in order to solve technical issues at least. There are a lot of savvy individuals playing Dekaron and willing to give good feedback if asked for. But no one is asking and that is the main problem! What we offer, they don't take and dismiss it from above as we are insignificant bunch, suckers willing to pay and pay and pay...

I am all for putting pressure on Papaya for these reasons noted above. Problem is that some ppl take it too far and slander, bash, and flame the gm's and Papaya. Maybe we could start a thread, a petition more or less, to get our voices heard. A couple of things i'm wondering and concerned about though. One, is there enough ppl having the problems that still use the forum and Two, is there enough ppl still playing or willing to play the game if the issues are corrected. Hopefully there are as I absolutely love this game.

@kapi482  It's interesting that about 10 days prior to my problems launching the game (now with the ESET anti-virus issue), I received a message from the GMs in response to an on-going ticket regarding login problems. (I was almost always getting kicked back to the login page from Character Selection and almost nil game stability IF/WHEN I was able to login.)  They were wondering if my anti-virus might be a problem.  On the Maintenance cycle AFTER my response ( wherein I told them I have ESET), that's when I STARTED having problems with launching the game DUE TO ESET.  This seems a little beyond "coincidence" IMO.  I'm not a game programming expert, but I know logically, if nothing changed on my end and all of a sudden, something with a game launch screws up subsequent to the game provider's Maintenance Cycle, THEN THE GAME PROVIDER HAS TO HAVE MADE CHANGES ON THEIR END TO CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN.

@NomenNesci0 & @Stryder1 I wasn't able to find the Dekaron.exe file in my Dekaron folder.  So I gather ESET just automatically deletes it as "a threat".  I wonder if it would be easier to completely uninstall the game, setup the Exclusion for Dekaron in my ESET, and then re-install?

I only get out to the Forums now every couple of weeks, so I may be a little slow in responding.  Seems like a waste of time to try to correct problems that are the providers' responsibility, for a game I haven't been able to play since July of last year.  But I really enjoyed the game pre-Papaya days, so call me a "die hard" or whatever.  But let's resolve this Papaya nonsense once and for all.

Also, I agree with other Forum threads....With Papaya not resolving the login and game stability problems for over 7 months now, they've lost a lot of players, really good players (many that had been playing since 2Moons days).  So the release of A19 may be a case of "too little too late".

I decided to go ahead and uninstall the game (to resolve my ESET problem). When I go to the Control Panel, I don't see Dekaron in my list of programs.  And in the Dekaron Online files, there's an UNINS000 executable file.  But when I start this executable, I get an error message saying "Installation can only be uninstalled on a 64 bit Windows".  I'm running Windows 7 Pro, which I THOUGHT was 64 bit.  And I installed the game using this operating system and this PC. Any ideas or suggestions?  Thank you in advance for any support!

My "shot in the dark" is to manually delete everything, file by file.

Unfortunately you did not wait for a response, so now you have other problems. Dekaron.exe file resides in bin folder and is less than 4 MB in size. Easily sent by mail or downloaded from TS or Skype...
Anyway, if you want to reinstall, delete all files manually and reinstall in the same folders. Don't forget to include exception in ESET...

@MateaB1  I'm still ok, I was just pondering the possibilities, and which way may be the easiest and cleanest.  If someone can send me the file, email address is LScheer@rogers.com.  Does that error reference to "64 bit" make any sense when I tried to do the uninstall (from the "Dekaron Online" files)??  I'm a bit confused by all that...pretty sure my PC is operating in 64 bit mode.

I think I've got the exception(s) properly setup in ESET now.

    Thanks in advance!

@PappyPlay depending on your OS, right-clicking your start button and clicking systems should open your computer spec. page. It'll tell you youre OS bit.

But as it stands with the detected virus. Dekaron does have a virus-like nature. That virus being a trojan.
A Trojan is a program that installs other software, outside of the client context, malicious software, inside the client context, the patch updates. So expect to have to re-make the exception in your firewall after every update to both your AV and patch updates.

Also, how dafuq you guys found a 64 bit client model, Ive only ever found a 32 [and im running a 64] do the deka gods not like me? D:
