The big question for Papaya Play

gkdefinedgkdefined Posts: 4Member Beginner
So with the closure of Aeria Latale in 2010, and then the closure of OGP Latale in 2017, how is papaya play going to be certain that the game will not be closed here as well?

I can't help thinking that they will end up shutting it down on here at some point to,but I really hope I'm wrong about that.I'm really not happy about having to start again on yet another new site, and I don't want to have to start over again at some point in the future either. Many people have worked really hard when it comes to gaining levels and items, and it doesn't seem fair that they will lose all of that.It just seems like we've all worked hard for nothing really.

This is the fate of every MMO game on the Internet - it dies. Inevitably. Because nothing is this world lasts forever. It may take 1 month or 15 years but the end result is always the same - server is shutting down, all your data is lost and things you loved and worked for years and years vanish into the air. All you get to keep are you memories and friends you made over the years. As such you either move to another server or another game that will sooner or later share the fate of its predecessor or quit MMO realm completely.

I do not want to sound harsh or rude but this is the nature of things and you must always keep this in mind when taking on a new MMO game.

Probably won't come for a long time.

As long as they maintain LaTale, and players maintain their interest..
    it'll be okay.

    Just gotta believeeeeeeeee!

I really feel like the game has a lot of potential and can attract a wide array of people to play - it just wasn't given enough exposure or support at Aeria or OGP after a while. If it's still running in Asia what's to say it won't work here? It just needs the continued support the other, more successful versions of LaTale have imo

But I agree with @Aegelweard everything is bound to end, I just hope it takes a while for us to reach that point.

It just feels like a lot of the English versions of Korean MMOs inevitable die because they do not have much of a voice to how game features are added or changed. Like @DrunkenStallion stated, "If it's still running in Asia what's to say it won't work here?", translated versions of Korean MMOs hardly ever get their own content, and always follow the same update timeline as their Korean parent even if the changes are unappealing to the playerbase of the Western servers. I read through the forum posts that ask "What should be changed?" or "I really wish [feature] would be added" and it just saddens me knowing that despite us pleading for changes/ addition of features that suit us, it will never happen because of the fixed translated content we get. Yet, the developers almost always follow that model, that if it works in KLT, it must work in NALT.
P.S. I know we do have our own items and features like Artifacts, etc., but I feel like some major aspects of the game that contribute to the wellbeing of the server are simply not in our grasp to change.

As @Aegelweard said nothing lasts forever, we just have to move on and shape this new LaTale server into something that everyone can enjoy. We have to have a strong community one that communicates and connects with new players who join the game, GM's also have to communicate with us to get feedback here and there to see what we're interested/having problems with. Not much can be done but that and having hope that it will all play out right in our favor.

I think what the poster was trying to ask was what guarantee that Papaya would be able to hold La Tale for more than a short period of time, not that the game would never shut down. It's pretty common for games to shut down a few months after being brought back up.

As for the question: it's something you have to play the game and see for yourself on launch date. It all depends on how many players play the game in those first few days, how many players are satisfied enough to stay, and how much profit the game manages to make. The way Papaya manages the game and how the community shapes up to be will be really important in this, but as of now all you can do is wait and hope for the best.

Can LT survive another round of "oh it looks like a maplestory ripoff"?

Honestly, just enjoy the game while you're still playing, don't worry about it being closed. If you just worry about the game closing then you'll just have a lousy time playing. Just have fun :)
