Mutants

I'm kind of curious is it possible to make a server wide timer for mutants? We all need it but at the same time people play from different parts of the world so it could die while some are sleeping etc etc..but like I said just curious.

    A server-wide announcement that mutants are up in the chat box would be just as good too.

    Just looking forward to seeing more active mutant hunting parties Lets hope there aren't gonna be to many of those that go ahead and kill solo and take out while others are doing in different channels like before.

    @anizone1

    with the actual power that the people will have , dont think they would go to kill in other ch´s , everyone will need everyone´s help, in old times they was killing mutants because there were lv 220

    also cant stop thinking about the 8 people ymir/odin/dyn/lab parties xD, so atm we all have to help us

    @anizone1 He's right, its all brand new we're going to need to work together so I'm sure there will be plenty of parties. I'm just hoping that people will keep track of it and not try to do it with some special group.

    @Marioale123 You're so right haha I didn't even think of that until now.

    While I completely agree that having server-wide "%mutant_name% has re-spawned at %channel%" announcements would be a great help to all players I doubt it will be implemented.

    Cutting down re-spawn times (down to 30 min) would be a great help too, mainly because some people have full-time jobs and colleges and can't kill enough mutants per day to progress at a reasonable pace.

    This is what, actually, happened to me. I could only take on mutants 2 times a day maximum, so given the amount of loot and crafting requirements it would take me about a month to finish just one accessory. Also, take into account the fact that sometimes Sword and GW were killed simultaneously.In the end I just gave up and settled down with Genesis.

    Did I mention that KLT GMs graciously distribute mutant crafting materials via log-in events? 2 boxes per log-in event that lasts for 10 days only is pretty good.

    I was actually working on something like this. That kind of replicated FFXIV Fishing timers and Cleection node timers. But people started bashing on me for doing it, so I said if I was going to do it I'd probably end up charging and releasing it on the app store, and all interest for it completely dropped, so I dropped it as well.

    I'm sorry to hear this. OGP LT wasn't the nicest community ever.

    You mean something like this http://ffxivfisher.appspot.com/ ? That would be an amazing tool to have. What really makes me curious is how would you acquire data from the server to put it into the app.

    @Aegelweard See, I understand what you went through because I too went through the same..some people just wont beable to make EVERY mutant but shorter timers would be just as good as an announcement because now you have some sort of idea when to check back instead of forgetting while doing something within the hour.

    @dpaddestroyer Go for it man don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

    i hope they help us out with mutants, maybe they papaya staff can bless us with mutant item boxes or some type of trade in event cuz mutant mat farming is a pain.

    It shouldn't be that much of a pain if they keep the 9/9/9 50% ratios. I feel it would be pretty fair to keep them there. But for the love of God. The belt. Bless your hearts if you make that 50% HAHA. That would be fantastic...

    It's probably the same thing yeah, but I personally was going to model it afterhttp://www.ffxivclock.com/#/
    I thought getting the data wouldn't be too hard with "a little" help from some key data miners that we are aware of, but I didn't want to approach them without the interest of the rest of the community, ya know.
    The other thing would be is I don't know Actoz/OGP (now Papaya) stance on mods and nodes, so I didn't want to put in the leg work to get banned for try to give the community something, ya know. that's just my take on it though, I'd be down on bringing this up again and trying to get something going for this LT if the want is there and it's not against terms of service according to papaya

    If anything, I am wholeheartedly supporting your idea.

    @Aegelweard

    That's good, hopefully we could get some word on whether or not this breaks terms of service here or not. As some companies have really stupid stances on add ons and add on like things.

    the only real different between the ff sites like those and what I'm purposing is that those sites are actually just timers cause all that stuff in that game is just time based so it's not actually parsing the game. There are things out there that do, but we would need someone that really knows the LT file hierarchy.

    Oh yes. You definitely need to send a HD ticket. Hope they will consider this a good idea and grant you permission.

    I think its out of Papaya's control to be fair.

    It would all have been so much easier for us had they bound mutants to a timer. What do I mean: mutants spawn in the beginning of every hour (let's say 10:00am) and die when it ends (10:59am). Mutants only drop loot if they were killed (health decreased to 0 points) and drop nothing if they are killed by the timer.

    This way we have constant, fixed mutants spawn times that can be used for stand-alone app.

    Yes and no. I can see the good side of both ways. But having them respawn after being dead for an hour is far better because more people will have access to them.

    But honestly I don't see it being too hard to make a little program or something to do what we want. It'd be about the same as a damage parser on FFXIV or WoW. it'd just target the server timer for the monster instead of targeting a monster for damage numbers.

    My guess would be is that most of this stuff (if not all) is probably SQL based, and "usually" companies keep their SQL under pretty tight lock and key, (that's why SQL injection and DDOSing are a thing). But if we can get some word on some of this stuff from a GM or something I'd be more than happy to help work on it (my SQL is rusty AFFFFFFFFF)
