Are you happy about starting over and losing everything ?

I know that some people are really happy that they get to start over and begin their journey anew, but are you happy about losing all you've worked for ? I know that some people have worked for years on their characters, gaining items, and levelling up etc,so it doesn't seem very fair to lose all of that.It also doesn't seem vary fair that people have spent actual money on this game, and they cannot keep what they've bought over the years.

Welcome aboard! Take your seat and enjoy the ride!

Am I happy to start anew? - I absolutely am! We have a new team of GMs, we have better host, they promise us better and faster server hardware and we, as a community, get a chance to fix mistakes of the past.

Am I happy to lose things I worked 8 years for? - Of course not! Why would I be? The amount of time I spent on OGP LT is ridiculous! But life is life, bad happens and you just move on. The only other option you get is to stay in the same place, grieving and moaning over the things you once had, until you kick the bucket.

I am sorry for your loss but we are all in the same boat. The reason OGP refused to transfer our character data to Papaya is unknown and will remain so, I believe. As for the money you spent on OGP - well, it was OGP, not Papaya. These are two different companies and the later does not bear financial responsibilities of the former.

Surely no one is going to be happy about losing all of their hard-earned items and cash-bought items.

If you're a veteran player, you'll receive things based on how old your account is.Even though this won't compensate for everything you've lost, it's at least something you should be thankful for in comparison to the people who had tons of hours into the game, the top players.

Despite the losses, I see this as a positive for the game and community. It was only a matter of time till the game died as it really wasn't attracting new players, and had the same players on most of the time.
Even if a decent amount of new players had started playing each month, their interest would quickly be lost due to the insane prices items were going for.As a new player, you'd have to put hours to days into the game to be able to afford and support your character.Hard work is a thing, but for a single item is ridiculous.

This is an opportunity to make its community much better by helping each other out, making things a reasonable price, and just being friendly in general.

I'm sorry for your losses, but if you really enjoy LaTale... then hopefully you don't decide to give up.

I wouldn't say I'm happy about it, but I'm pretty sure the majority of us knew this was coming. I haven't bought astros in like 3 years since I always knew in the back of my head the end was coming.

So I'm not happy about it, but not sad either. I was almost anticipating this, and now it's finally here I can start fresh without any worries, for the time being anyway.

I started playing ten days ago and I've gotten to level 130 through sheer hard work, but I didn't realise that I was going things for nothing. It would be nice for every player to start on equal footing when LaTale does properly come to this site, but my only worry is that some people may have an elitist view of things and not give newer players a chance.I know those people exist in every community, but I don't see how anyone can take pride in buying flashy items and bragging about how great/skilled they are.

I think people should play because they actually enjoy playing and not because they want to show off.I'm also kind of concerned about how the servers will hold up if so many people start playing again (lag seriously sucks)I want everyone to enjoy playing and I want everyone to have an equal opportunity to quest, earn things, and progress as far as they can.

If a loss such as this can cause the game to live on, prosper, and build a better community then everything we lost will not have been in vain.

I'm hoping that the new host does a better job at making the game worth playing and actually allowing this game to maintain new players.

To answer the question, I'm not quite bothered by losing everything. I was disappointed hitting 220 and getting ready to handle the upcoming content just to be put back to level 1 sure, but at the same time the game was getting boring.I'm sure to miss all the stuff I had, but if the game manages to prove itself over the next few weeks maybe it won't be a problem.

I am kinda meh about losing my stuff but it wasn't till recently I was achieving much so I'm not that concerned. Fashion has really been my biggest concern.
Starting over is gonna be thoroughly fun so I look forward to playing again soon. never spent much cash on the game so stats not a big deal to me.

The only thing I'm going to miss is my fashion.
I just hope we get some starting set. Maybe like a Gema coupon or something. I just don't want to be running around looking like a pleb lmao.

Happy about losing everything? Of course not. Happy's definitely not the right word. I've been playing since I was in 8th grade way back in April '08 and still have all of my original characters since then (kind of, one of my alt accounts on OGP is forever lost because the yahoo mail it was associated with expired LOL), as well as my guild Konguki which was my life blood in this game, also founded right around my start date, maybe May of '08.

However I'm not terribly sad about it either. I played really consistently 2008-2012 but after that I entered Uni and got reduced down to playing maybe a week or so every summer was all. I kept coming back to La Tale because I all but grew up with it, but it was impossible to get back into with a guild and buddy list full of people who had also stopped playing, not to mention missing a whole year's worth of content each time. I mean I was stoked when S2 came out back in like... 2013 I think? Then before I knew it "Season 3" was plastered all over and I was like "wait what?".

Additionally I always played this game pretty casually, my original first character, Rhonder the bard, only ever ended up getting to level 182 after all those years. So in all honesty catching back up wont take that long anymore. It was different in S1 where you had to grind Crabs and Neo Navies for hours to get levels up to 100, it's super quick now lol. And more than anything, this fresh start (and me myself being fresh out of uni and therefore having more time again) is probably the only thing that might entice me to start playing again consistently. I was no joke just last week thinking about how I might start looking into an MMO again, so if that wasn't a sign I don't know what is~

It's... Well... My answer is a bit complicated. A hard answer to write with all the emotion involved. So bare with me.

While I haven't played the game in a while (it suddenly stopped working after an update, sometime after Wanderer) It's a game I have serious loyalty to. And when I say loyalty, I mean I was an OGP LaTale Closed Beta Tester. I literally stayed with the game for that long. And had, at one point, brought issues the community had with the game to OGP. And not only that, I played, EVERY class, since the beginning. I had all of them and aside Sorcerer they were all above level 140. My Wanderer had just graced the 200 mark, I had a guild that a fought tooth and nail for it not to be stolen from me, emotes you couldn't get, even the CBT Emote. All the intense hours of gathering funds to keep my characters afloat, the astro clothes I bought and enchanted, the potions I saved, the hours of armor work and skill books I paid for. It's all gone. It hurts, allot, I know the cliche "it's just pixels" but those pixels had a million memories, good and bad, in them.

That being said, and as heart wrenching as it is. The path to this new LaTale is both a fresh air and one of some worry. Worry about the new server (As a player from California who witnessed
players from East Coast and beyond struggle with latency,  and then
having the same issue when OGP switched to East Coast this is worrisome) the worry about how the new community will fair, the new Server Rush all games have. But it does give newer players a chance to start without concern, and have experienced players on the path with them. This is also the chance for experienced players to help build a stronger community (one without dealing with other Side Scrolling MMO mentalities from the beginning) And who knows, maybe this server will be much better than OGP's East coast attempt?

So, even when losing everything, it's hard not to feel a bit excited for the uncertainties this all brings. It is like playing the game for the first time, just with experienced eyes. I just hope to be able to be a part that journey when it all begins again, as well.

They promise us vastly improved (in comparison to OGP) server performance so I hope servers will handle all of us no problem.

Nah there is always gonna be a problem. It's just how often will that problem occur and to what degree.

I've been playing Fiesta Online, but it has had a lot of connectivity problems lately. It's to the point where I couldn't even log in anymore, so I pulled up LaTale and saw it's changing over! I'm actually *kind of* excited for it to have a fresh start. It is one of my favorite games. I am a bit miffed that I was unable to transfer my Steam account over, but I did at least go ahead and get an alternate OGP account transferred.

I hope we will be given appearance vouchers! I did spend a little on making sure my characters looked unique a bit. I'm not that worried about losing the progress, b/c to be honest, I'd like to do it again with others playing around the same levels. Still..., I can't help but think of the people who put in the effort to get near to cap or cap. They'll probably quit the game. It may be a dead game on arrival, but I hope not!

LaTale has always been kind of special. I'll give it a go if I'm able to at least retain some sort of compensation for having built up characters.

The thing is the game was obviously going to close, it was just a matter of time.

Latale is pretty fun in the beginning as it's very party oriented and a great way of meeting and connecting with people. However, the game is so time consuming that I'm really not looking forward to getting back to end game; even getting to where I was at prior to shut-down takes a very long time. Depending on the class you choose it could legit take forever till you become decent. You have to keep building and building and building, which requires a ton of time.

So the only thing I'm really not looking forward to is spending an absurd amount of time and energy getting back to the place I was at. If the economy is limited in the same way that it was on OGP, I'd probably stop playing to be honest; maintaining funds is one of the biggest barriers. From the price of pets, to upgrades, to enchanting etc.. just slows down progression so much

But yeah I think it lives and dies not just on the host but also the community.

Starting over is gonna suck so bad if they don't do some major overhauls on the core systems of the game. Necessary gear upgrades shouldn't be a matter of gosh darn frickin' RNG. (plz 4gib langauge). The game already has enough superfluous RNG and massive time gates on things without the down right asinine levels of RNG tied to things like dynasty and Odin upgrade rates. These are the kind of things that make people stop playing late game and just start new characters or quit altogether.

I've got mixed feelings on starting anew. It's a strange combination of excitement and resentment. I'm gonna play it by ear. At the very least I'm gonna roll a new character and preserve my IGN, and then from there I'll see how I feel goin' forward.

    '08 account, 3 220 chars, total F2P player.
I'm happy to start this game from zero again.
I don't care about losing everything. I played the game, had fun and that's it.
OGP was a mistake. AceofCucks was a mistake.

I wouldn't use the word "happy" to particularly describe how I feel. I think a lot of us could feel it coming a long way off, watching over the past few years as the player base dropped etc. etc.

The way I feel about it is more relief; relief at the potential for LaTale to be great again. It's been a long time since I've seen an influx of new players, so I'm hoping that we can have that again. I feel that it is, in very cliche terms, a "new beginning" for LaTale. We can all start again, and rebuild the community.

Then again, I never spent any money on LaTale so I haven't got much to complain about hahaha.

Zzzzz people find any reason to dislike something, it's sad to see that people are upset to start from scratch. Yeah sure you worked hard for this and that but in the end the company where you worked hard to achieve all of that basically did not care for the game. The big focus was just milking your money, just accept the change, move on and find a way to enjoy it. I don't mean to be rude but the negativity about starting over is annoying especially if you haven't even finished everything.

I don't mind it. I remember at OGP, I always used to make new characters because I never could remember my password... I ended up reaching around level 180 in 3 days; only to get a bit bored because of the stagnation of the community. Rinse and repeat.

I hope I won't have to resort to making new characters to have fun again.

I dont mind as long as the LT OGS nd pros help the noobs cuz tbh i think thats the only reason the game died. No help or guidance = ppl quitting which = 0 bank
  • owillydowillyd Posts: 54Member Beginner
There was more to it than that. When flip became a thing the game just started going down hill and I'm sure people made help desks and posted in the forums about it but it seems they ignored it all and the game continued to die. OGP just can't handle and maintain games in a way that keeps them alive.

    @owillyd

Agree. FlipSide would not consider the fact that more updates and more content does not equal quality and does not necessarily maintain players' interest.

Well.. of course i'm not happy about it. but starting all fresh doesn't really bother me ^^ I did spend alot of time and money on this game. Yet i'd still continue to play it :D

@LettuceDance I like that. There are a few people i've noticed who feel entitled to great things simply because they are veteran players. But i like the idea of a ~Fresh start~ as well. No matter who you were on ogplanet. It really doesn't matter now. Were all equals and to be honest.. That makes me pretty happy. Knowing I did for the most part all i could on ogp. I'm personally extremely content with all of this :)

More than anything I am excited to see which direction papaya play takes with La Tale. At the same time also feeling a bit cautious as they might be like OGP in a few years time. Hopefully that won't happen though.
