Vote Kick System Redesign

Hey everyone. I want to present a basic idea and a bunch of branching ideas for revising the vote kick system to something with less abuse, but similar or more efficacy.

The first system is a much older idea, going back at least 6 years to where it was originally posted on GamersFirst forums (which I have no archive of). The gist of it is this:

Vote Y/N is removed from the game. To kick someone, all players who want to kick player X must right click on player X's name to place a vote. It's the exact same process as starting a vote kick today, and the goal is still to have >50% of a team saying they want to kick a player for that player to be removed.

The fundamental reason for this is to avoid kick abuse. Players will vote Y blindly on a kick because there are three core benefits, which are all selfish:
  1. The Y key is closer to WASD and is thus easier to press (on standard QWERTY keyboards).
  2. If not enough of the team votes Y, that message about a kick being made will be displayed for 30 seconds, plus a few seconds with the result of the kick saying "Player X was not kicked".
  3. A persistent kicker is going to keep trying to kick Player X, so you keep seeing that message. If you just give in and press Y, you won't be bothered by the message anymore.

By making it require more than a single button press, and removing that message at the bottom of the screen that reports on the time remaining for the kick, all the reasons for blindly pressing Y are addressed. This minimizes the abuse.

The mechanics after that can be changed, it leads to a bunch of different possibilities. Not all of these are exclusive:
● You can put a message on the left-hand side in/above chat that says "Player A has voted to kick Player X".
○ This prompts players to do their own kicks if it is someone worthy of being kicked.
○ Having this displayed to both teams lets someone who is the victim of a hacker know who really is trying to kick hackers, and who is just lying about "I vote Y".
● You can allow for multiple kicks at a time. If there are multiple people you want to remove from the room, go ahead and put a vote on all of them.
● Your votes don't have to expire in 30 seconds, so once you cast one vote, it's good for the rest of the game.
● With votes being simultaneous against different people, a hacker cannot prevent himself from being kicked by opening a vote against someone else, like they do today with autokickers.
● Completely independent from this idea, but no need for a cooldown after a successful kick.
● Completely independent from this idea, we can get rid of the no-vote period at end of games like v0nndutch suggested which was added to help curb abuse of the kick system.

One potential pitfall in DE implementing this is they use Slot 2 wants to kick Slot 3, rather than tying it to player IDs. So to avoid problems like someone leaving the game (not kicked), someone joining in the vacant slot, and already having a number of votes against them, the vote kicks against that Slot should be reset to 0.

One simple answer here, it won't work. New players struggle with the concept of pressing Y to vote kick somebody they will never know that they have to right click on there name aswel.

    Two things:

    1) We have tips on loading screen, shouldn't be a problem to put instructions there.

    2) If you go with the visible vote function, so you can see for a moment when someone votes against anybody, those players will get curious about what that is and figure it out either by themselves or with the help of someone telling them how. And if it came down to it that no one saw a newbie vote against the hacker, someone should explain to the newbie how to vote. "Press tab, right click hacker name" sounds like a pretty simple explanation.

Nobody reads loading screen. They have'nt got time to read the Tips. As soon as it hits 'game start' Im ready to spawn. Don't even see the loading screen.
