General Question About PvP

Hey all, so it's been quite some time since I last played actively (shortly after S2 dropped) and while a lot of things are quite different to how they used to be, the most shocking one to me is PvP. I know that in like 2014 or something a big PvP overhaul patch happened (a friend who was really into PvP and still kind of playing told me about it at the time), adding a few new modes, changing the way stats and such scaled, etc. This week was the first time I tried "new" PvP, just casually with some guildies.

What i'm wondering is is it no longer possible to really "casually" PvP? I'm a Pop Star and have fought a Card Master a few times, similar levels each time, and neither of us can actually kb each other with most of our skills. Evil Performance and Seven Signs kind of can but that's about it (this was actually as a Mini still, so haven't tested the stage attack yet), mostly because we have SO MUCH HP now and can't hit the 1% to flinch or whatever. We were both players on OGP back in the day who used to duel sometimes and it wasn't like this xD the first time we fought we each did about 1/3 hp to each other, and the 2nd time at higher levels she about ko'd me once and I got her down about 50%.

The other extreme was fighting one of my new demigod guildies who does way too much damage and can get a kill about every 40 secs while I'm unable to kb him at all. Basically I remember like with any PvP game/mode, there are classes that are better than others and such, but it was never this lop sided before.

For the TL;DR questions, is there something we're missing? What are the minimum requirements to have fun PvPing (level/gear/etc.)? On one hand it's just a slap fest where we just stand in each others attacks w/o flinching and do damage, and the other extreme is one player just being way more powerful than the other, neither of which is very fun :/

Pop Star isn't made to dish out damage at all, of course you'd have problems to stunlock/kb people in PVP.

Unfortunately, PVP is not "fun" nor "balanced" anymore, unless you have the right classes for it, great gear, and level 190/200 or more, you won't be enjoying it fully, like you've experienced already. (And even with those, you'd have to farm eternally to get that perma +2 crit rate.)

One thing you could do with your friends is to try and use the PVP set in the Arena, and upgrade it when you can. I've never seen it being properly upgraded/enchanted, so it might be worth trying.

Another thing you could do is playing the same class as your opponent, and the same level as them. This is the only way to have it "balanced", but welp, is really restraining and kind of pointless.

Thanks for the reply~ I found the set in the arena in the span of time while waiting for one already but that was the answer xD it's clear it's not very balanced at the moment however with some creative use of that set it balances out. For example, with PS being a pretty weak class, when I equip the fight set and fight my demi and Card Master friends, it feels about right. If either of them put the set on though it goes back to being one sided. So I think for a casual guild event (like I'm looking to do) just trying to gauge who to wear the special set or not is the main consideration.

    Glad it could help you.

Hope you'll have fun creating your PVP Events, and may one, or more of you get that goshdarned +2 crit rate passive!

Ooo now you have me intrigued, what's this +2 crit rate you speak of?

Basically, in the Ely Skills tab, you have a line of 5 passives with at the end "Warlord's XXX" (don't actually remember the name, but it's something like that).

Each of the 5 passives can be obtained after getting the skill book in the PVP shop. To get these books, you have to get to a certain level in PVP, which means farming a lot (and I mean A LOT) of PVP points.

So if you're doing PVP Events, this'll be a funnier way to get them than grinding points with 4v4 round-robin kill parties.

ahh gotcha, thanks for the tip xD those I wasn't aware of.

Those are often ignored after all, since you'd have to go through some godawful PVP grinding just to get one, I still don't know anyone who did it without doing a special PVP grinding party.
