I Know Full Well That Homelessness Kills Because Someone I Know Died Two Months Ago hey quick question @GloomySunday can i steal this extremely deep and thought provoking line for a college thesis dsajoihfeuiabfiwbgreugr
It's kind of silly to compare anything in the real world to something that happens in this game. It's supposed to just be a friendly place for people to have fun. That's it. It's not a lot to ask for. Let's say, hypothetically, that it could be possible in our version of the game (which is not any other version of the game). I just want to see sound arguments against it. No feels.
The chances of it ever happening are slim, unless Papaya can get permission from Actoz to enact it only for NA (and I guess EU since they play on the NA server? Can't remember how the new one is set up). The real world does impact stuff like that.
Incorporating this really isn't that important, it doesn't fundamentally change anything. Just like the dating system in general really doesn't change a lot. I personally would rather they scrap the whole system then perpetuate it.
You have to look at it from Actoz shoes. They have a lot of Asian customers and investors to answer to, many parts of the Eastern world are against anything out of wedlock, let alone stuff like bisexuality, homosexuality, etc. There are places in the East that still look down upon occupations like butchers as dirty and unholy. A comment on a games forum will not change that fact. Actoz needs to look out for itself whether it agrees with the issue or not. They aren't going to risk losing say, 10-20% investment for 1% of the player base. Obviously those are made up rough estimates but you get the point.
It's a game for children at the end of the day, that has a lot of young adults, adults, and middle aged people playing it to. However, that doesn't mean it needs to have crap like a dating or marriage system at all. Again, IMHO, it's just a dumb system in a game. The fact certain things are unisex is actually quite progressive for them.

Make your char as male/female > your gf picks opposite sex > Buy few LTCs for your male char > Buy girly clothings> Buy girly haircut> Marriage in game afterwards> Now look how Actoz die in agony> Profit $$$
@GloomySunday oh don't worry I actually never thought you were lying about it, but it's clear how much he meant to you and how much you actually helped him out and how much your big loving righteous heart cared that you used his death in a poorly thought out internet argument.
@Darumy It doesn't matter what I say because you are always going to have a problem with it.People like you just seem to be out to cause another unnecessary fight on the internet and I'm not going to fall for it.I know when someone is being manipulative/trying to provoke a fight and I won't be apart of it.
Actually, if anything other than a bunch of shallow garbage came out of your mouth, I would have no issue with it at all. Why do you think that out of all the lovely people in this thread, I picked you to hang out with?
It's actually 88% these days, so my basic comprehension has improved somewhat.
But trying to push a political agenda, whether consciously or unconsciously, in a game under the guise of 'oh, it isn't political, I just want fun and customisation' is childish, and frankly, pretty stupid. You cannot so easily remove the label of controversy from an issue steeped in it by ignoring it. It isn't a matter of being shallow or deep, but rather of having an awareness of current social issues.
And what I mean when I say that it's a non-issue is that even in somewhat-liberal America, despite the legal backing of the supreme court, it's still a controversial topic in many states. In Korea, where homophobia is normalised, this taboo is multiplied many times over. Game companies have a history of reflecting societal trends, not creating world-changing movements. Once same-sex marriage is established as a norm in real life, games will naturally follow, not the other way around. Be it for personal belief or for 'fun and customisation', if you people want same-sex marriage to be commonly seen in games, write to your representatives.
So yes, please tell me what exactly it is that you're trying to do.
o god, a serious response. What I was trying to do was more or less piss off gloomysunday which she totally caught on to and get you to respond, not seriously try to argue for or against anything in a thread that already derailed off being any sort of good discussion from the moment it was posted lmaooo. But lets discourse sure
It's good to see your comprehension has improved in your eyes but you're kind of missing a key thing: The "because it's fun" thing wasnt a response to whether or not same sex marriage implementation was plausible in lieu of real life politics, but a response to the poster before me asking "Why do you HAVE to marry?". It's like asking why anyone "has" to gear, or level, or play dress up, or anything. It's a function in the game, and if people find it interesting or fun enough to want to improve it, no amount of "I think this is dumb so shut up" really changes that.
Don't worry, I understand both things you're trying to go for. All media is inherently political from my point of view, from the moment they decide to add people and cultural references to it. But there's like, actually a tiny bit of uh, like...general common sense understanding among most people that marriage in this game doesn't hold the same cultural and political significance as it might in real life. What I'm saying is, many people who argue against people who want implementation of stuff like say, same sex marriage, more skin colors, etc etc etc, come off like they think that we want this sort of thing for some social justice reason or akin it to some real life relationship function, when, usually, we don't really mean to make a serious statement with what we're doing. on a personal level. I was more getting on the case of the other players in this thread attempting to stamp on this appeal versus the company. That's a whole other ballpark.
Now I understand your other main point: Just because we don't think it's political doesn't mean it isn't, because yeah, it totally is! It's a huge point of contention in a lot of eastern and even western video games running from Fire Emblem to Story of Seasons and even our humble little mmo community because, even though most players think little of it and just think "oh that would be a nice feature", it does, in the end, come off as a political statement. You're right in that, in consideration of the original appeal, people should have consideration for cultural differences, our influence as customers, and how much that affects how a company responds. But like I said, that's a whole other ballpark that concerns a whole other set of arguments. Which is entirely pointless to get into if we can't even try to petition for it in the first place with a bunch of other people randomly going "ummm this is dumb why do you care" or "people will get into political fights over this!!! keep politics out of my cute game! (until it's implemented and they dont, like sex change)".
I don't blame you for not taking the time to read and follow the track of the thread, but the shallow comment was in response to basically everything that gloomysunday has said. which is like honest to god way out there and does nothing for the original topic so uhhh what were we doing again
having marriage in the game on its own, especially specifically heterosexual marriage, is a political statement by itself. so saying adding gay marriage is "making it political" doesnt really make sense. of course it is, the subject was political to begin with
that being said i understand the concerns w/ the asian market, actoz aren't trying to make a statement. if it could be added to the NA version only though, that'd be really nice. really, it's such a non-issue, its probably one line of code that would need to be changed. i guarantee you noone will even notice if its changed, except the people who'd want to marry same-sex anyway. the very concept of it is offending people more than the actual implementation ever would, imo.
I think @MerelyPringles is being emo, seeing how his short time on forums, he is being generally hostile/ oblivious to the topics at hand. I guess some people never change~
OT: NA developers should be able to include this feature, seeing how in the KR version even darker skin tones are only available in the market ( JP too). but i personally dont see it as a necessity to be fair. i play latale just to kill time/luxury, not for personal life choices and such, not sure why people try to force socially/politically correct/ things into online games meant for fun. not SJW's trying to push their agenda-
if its no big deal then lets focus on adding FUN things to the game like skills classes maps, etc
Fun Fact : some people play games to take a break from dealing with SJWS IRL
if we could have a day where the pampered babies in the west would stop crying
''ohhh im oppressed'' when they already have gotten what they wanted IRL and they are completely oblivious to the fact that gays are KILLED in other countries
I was waiting for a post like this to appear in the forums lol. Sometimes people tend to forget this is a game and no matter what your sexual beliefs or preferences are it doesn't matter here. If you want to couple with a guy then play a girl same vice versa.
