Wanderer Tips?

StraydogStraydog Posts: 1Member Beginner
Hey Guys. I've been playing sword Wanderer for a while now but there's still some things I don't completely understand about it yet. Some questions I have are: What's the difference between the green Shadow Sword 1 and the red Shadow Sword 2? Is one better then the other? And what are the right combos for the respective Shadow Swords? Thanks in advanced!

Being an ex-BA, I can give you some tips and advice. Although, be advised, some of these tips could be obsolete with the character changes made by Goddess patch.

    1. Here's a basic skill tree I made, based on both devotion and equivalent exchange :
Note that latest page is different, so feel free to take whatever you feel is good in the newest one.

    2. Wanderer had a violent RP buff back when Demi got out. Devotion is now completely broken and should be in any BA tree, since you regen MORE than what you can use w/ it.
Use Equivalent Exchange when you used your dash too much to help you get an extra oomph when you want to go fast, or when you want to get out of a dangerous situation.

    3. The 4th attack skill of BA becomes an infinity skill. This one is mandatory for all BAs. 5th skill is nice when you want to group monsters, or when you're in a pinch to get more room between you and the mobs. Other skills are... Meh at best. You deal better damage and you have more crowd control with your "normals" (implying combos). (I know people love Shadow Tear since it seems to deal great damage, but... the fact you can't move at all during the whole animation can kill you in a second, since you won't lock all mobs in a group of 10.)

    4. When you open your combo list to place your combo skills, you have the list of "buffs" you'll get each time you attack. Before it was raw damage for 1 and crit damage for 2, now it's ... errr.. dunno, and strength, which isn't that great. But yeah, more often, you'll deal more damage on 1, so get your damaging combos on 1, and crowd control on 2.

    5. For the right combos, unfortunately, you'll have to experiment that yourself. Before, just spinning would do the trick, not now anymore. But since I wasn't using those, I can just give you a few tips on those :

    a. 1 hit attacks are your attacks that will KB all the time. Particularly the stabbing one, and the upwards/smashing slashes.

    b. 4 hit attacks are your damage dealing ones. Phys. Static Damage will be more effective on these than the 1 hit ones, but you won't KB higher level enemies like Sky Coli since damage will be divided between 4 hits.

    c. Try to get the enemies farther using a 1 hit skill, then push them a little more using a 4 hit one. If you've got a low enough latency and enough damage you'll be pushing them even farther. Remember, survivability is best here with BA, since you're kinda squishy.

    d. If you want to play it absolutely safe with normal mobs / Sky Coli, don't ever use 4 hit skills. Your attacks will KB enemies and you'll be jumping all over the place without mobs ever catching you.

    e. On bosses/monsters that can't be KB, feel free to use 4 hits. You can't KB, so why reduce your damage?

    6. Dash is free when you combo. Use it AND ABUSE IT. You'll need it for all levels of Warehouse. I promise.

Just one more thing : you'll feel like you've hit a "wall" for your damage in levels 200 or so. That's pretty much normal, that's how the class is. You'll have to push really far to get better damage, unlike other classes. But you'll still dish out some pretty sweet damage, so keep trying!

    Straydog
Hakusen : Judgment 200 (Still mad about that 198 > 197 rollback though.)
    KisekiKuroi : BA 189
Makimoke : Will be BM 200 / SD 140 at end of event!

If you need help or want to talk, I'll be glad to oblige.

Thanks for your reply, it was extremely informative. You wouldn't believe how little information there is about this class.
