Game does not start, freezing at "papaya play" logo

Good evening one and all,
I have installed the game, and even run the program in compatibility mode for Windows Vista, Windows 7 (both service packages) and Windows 8, yet still, my game will either freeze at the "Papaya Play" logo, or completely freeze my computer.
Any clues what could be causing the problem? If this continues, I will just uninstall and forget about the game. The last time LaTale did something like this on Gpotato, it fried the motherboard of my laptop. So, I don't want a follow up to that incident.
