Recognition of companies due crests

Wouldn't it be nice as well to sail our own unique crests on our sails? A crest that shows others what company you belong to? I've been thinking about that for many many years, it would be a lovely surplus!

How do u guys think about that?

i agree a crest like a unique tabard bound to that company similar to guild tabards on world of warcraft something notifying others of ur affiliation

As long as it doesn't eat up and inventory slot it'd be cool. Maybe instead, replace the nationality flag that goes next to the player's name with a company crest. The animated nation flags would still be on the ship for nation identification.

In addition to my initial purpose, a company logo could be added on a cape when you are on land perhaps...

But still the idea of the crest on your ship's sails, I would love it!

Come on GM's you must give us at least something in gratitude for standing loyal at your side after all we've been trough in the history of UWO. This is not the way you can keep our loyalty :(

And yes I permit to speak in the name of many since I spoke quiet a few about their Papaya experience so far...

Anyway, keep up running UWO, having it online and accessible is the greatest gift u could give us by far.

they would have to either design crests for each company, or we would have to design and upload. Nice idea, but for practical reasons I don't see it happening.

Toolwind did it once with the heavenly sword crest he had a contest and I think stacieRae design it and then he had it passed it to Koei to implement it into the game. They then, of course, sold the crest as an Astro item.

For anything remotely close to this there must be money involved...that's just how Koei works. So you have to ask how can I use this idea to make Koei money? That's the only way they'll listen

Any of these could work...

1. Give crest effects for 25 SSIP like +5 speed +5% dura or -5% chance of crafting success. BIG MONEY in that

2. Custom orders for crest PP could charge I don't know 1000 bucks for a custom crest order equippable only by members of the paying company. 1k is STEEP but I don't see them doing it for cheaper.

3. Hold another contest for crest design but instead of one winner make about 10 winners for 10 different crests. Then sell the crests for Papaya coins or make them craftable in the game for 5 SSIP and an additional 20 SSIP to add a special effect. Adding special effects to them drives up more interest and more money.

4. Simply release a new crest monthly sell for PP coins or toss in ticket

If they just have a contest or sell them it would defeat the purpose of a company crest since anyone could use them.

And as a remark about the skull and crossbones crest that so many use. Funny how all those that use them are not pirates... lol

A neat idea as it sounds there's some big huddles to jump over that just doesnt make it practical ATM, the biggest of which is both Papayaplay and KOEI would have to check over each and every custom crest to make sure it fits within the guidelines (no images that may be deemed offensive or containing copyrighted material). They neither have the time nor the resources to do that. There's other factors as a couple of other players already pointed out, such as it wouldn't stop anyone from using it as their own. And what would happen to the crests if the company decides to disband itself? Anything that could solve these problems would require a major programming change which is a lot easier said then done.

A more feasible idea would be another design a crest contest as we had in OGplanet. [CA]Alianore had already suggested that to the GMs, and KOEI is open to that idea but their plate is a little too full to handle that right now. We can only wait and see what happens IF they decide to go forward with it.

I remember an ancient game I used to play decades ago called FLYFF (Fly for fun). They had invented a tool eventually allowing guilds (=companies) to implement their own "crest" It would then appear next to the player's name. Logo's on a cloack were however not related to a guild since indeed that might have been a bit too much programming for the GM's. However, it is possible but I agree that it will cost a lot of time and programming.

Still it would have been a nice idea.

Perhaps something for a 2020 version of UWO if it ever comes hehe.

Maybe one Lil dirty easy way to accomplish this would be to simply add a company sail paint. Basically the paint would let you put 4 letters of you choice on the sail. Then this way a company could choose any crest as long as the letters of the company appear on the sail above the crest.

Ie. TEF <------Sail Paint

maiden crest. <------ Any Crest you choose

See that way anyone can make a "company crest". And it would spark rivalry for people using the same crest not alliances of people using the same crest. .and papaya heh heh sells company sail paint in store. Seems easy to code.

Or simply company name appear above the crest like floating text

The problem with crests is that you can trade them so there's nothing really 'unique' about that then. The only way this system would work is if the crests could only be used by company members of that company. The code is already in the game, to use them it would be like 'title gear' like circumliner and trendsetter outfits (you need the title to use them). In this case you'd have to be in the company to use the crest. Of course this raises another problem, what if you change companies? The only code they really would have to write is one to create the crests.

Make ONE company crest item that just displays the crest of whatever company you are currently in.

Maby that issue can be solved...

As soon as u click to leave your current company, a confirmation popup appears "are u sure..." among with that message it can tell/order you to deliver your current crest to the company office in order to return it to the company storage. Only when done so u can leave the company. So it can be recovered by the company itself and later used for a new player picking your spot in the company.

i like @Carlalex suggestion to use a "company" crest which displays the one for the company. im sure many companies would actually pay UWC for those for their members, which makes the removal when you abandon them logical.

that way companies have a bigger sense of unity and the host gets some money, everyone wins except your wallet.

p.d.: i have heavenly sword can't believe it won a contest, its ugly! how bad where the other entries?
