I'm saying Steam stats mean nothing when the vast majority of the players use the launcher for whatever reason. I have some statistics of my own by the way.
3 March, 2005 - UWO
14 July, 2015 - BDO
Release dates of the two games, I spy a rather large (over 10 years) difference. The way I see it, the majority of people who play games on Steam must not be interested in older games such as UWO. If you want evidence UWO is not an isolated example, take Everquest. According to those same charts you present, in the last 30 days it had an average of 252 players with a peak of 503. Taking into account it was released in 1999 and has consistently been far more popular than UWO ever has, being one of the first MMORPGs, Now, if we look at the non-Steam stats for Everquest, in 2012 there were around 100k subscriptions still (free or otherwise), I doubt that number has shrunk too much in the past 4 years.
The lesson to be learnt from this is that Steam charts are not a good representation of older games due to the mindsets/types of people, and games that form the majority of Steam. UWO players are not a majority, we are in fact a small minority in the grand scheme of things.
Quote 'And I most certainly was not belittling CPC over her opinions. Merely the way in which she expresses them, with arrogance and narcissism, attacking those who don't agree.'
how do u get arrogance or narcissism from text there is no emotions there is only your interpretation of how she worded it but u didn't ask her u instead attacked her for how u thought her wording was ment.
I don t understand why Papaya don t make any announcement to let us know what are going to do about this game so we can all put an end to this fight on forums.Than we will see what we will do.I tink that they should know allready what are the plans for this game.In fact i think they knew even before they bought him.So they let us wait and argue on something we don t know if it s gonna happent or not.So i hope soon they will let us know something...

I think they want to keep their plans secret till relaunch approaches then they will announce policies, their plans, or what not. Basically, they want to surprise us ,but I hope they don't end disappointing us.
What you are saying would make perfect sense, if the game was still in it's original form.. You know, the way the game developers designed it to be. However, it is currently a dying game. This is largely due to changes that came about because of just the kind of players you are complaining about now. I'm not asking them to change the game, I'm asking that they change it back.
In regards to 2 servers I think the loss of profit from all those pirates and privateers no longer playing exceeds the cost of 2 servers GREATLY.
Also I really think the server population would play both servers tbh as they can continue here in the nerfed game then run a secondary character in the more dangerous unnerfed server...that's exactly what I plan to do actually if they did thatlol
I don't see any bad side to having 2 servers especially if we can multi with 2-3 characters. 2 servers is a very interesting solution I do forsee more playing on the un nerfed one though
I like the idea of 2 servers, too. But, as CPC and others have stated, something has to be done to keep the game from rotting on the Papaya play vine, too. A reset will kill off most of the current population. One toon per IP will kill of alot of the current population too because Koei has designed this game to support multiple toons in order to enjoy a wider experience. Koei is going to have to get off their butts and be part of a solution. Suggestions have been around for years about ways to fix the game, but ignoring simple fixes like a defender turning blue after a successful defense against a pirate is a tale tell sign of Koei's lack of concern. The current upcoming patches only introduce new stuff but do nothing to help retain newer players.Papaya could take their chances on a reset in hopes the game survives, but much of the newer content over the last couple years is meant more for mid level to advanced players. We are just in a waiting game at this point. There is the very real possibility Papaya doesn't even have answers at this point.
Change nothing is what I would consider the wisest Papaya can do for now. First of all focus on the relaunch and make sure that things are working as they should. Then observe things for a while, in game and in forum discussions to form your own opinion before considering a change.
@Lerxst you are korean? Black Desert Online is not only 8 years newer (internatil release was 2016 so whales still far from getting bored).
with a more general fantasy copy/paste style history and progression, easy to get bored of but also easier to pull mindless masses.
but also region locked and Pay 2 Play, with both register fee and microtransactions.
games that sell on shiny graphics get out phased as fast as graphics technology grows, i bet in 10 years people are unlikely to even remember the game.
Desire spawns madness, madness collapses into disaster. mankind never learns...
