According to Japanese wiki, it is from the shipwreck the Whydah, a galley-type IIRC. 'Pirate Sword' +1 SB +2 tactics.

unless such a sword has an effect(no degrading at sea),it is inconsequential, since we already have shipwright's saw

I personally wouldn't mind something a bit more stylish and with more dura than a saw. But yeah, much easier to get a saw. AND, you only have a chance of getting the sword, I've raised the Whydah (twice I think) but didn't get the sword.

Sword->>>>>Saw because it can be repaired with MST.

It's called pirates sword. As far as I know, it's from The Whydah shipwreck, *9 in Cape Cod with recognition r6 as requirement. The one that gives salvager bicorne. Unlike salvager bicorne though, it seems to be a very rare drop.

It does not have an effect, however it's got way more than 5 dura and it can be fixed with MST like mentioned above. So in case you sailed with it, it is not a big deal, unlike with the saw that it breaks after enough times or the dura turns orange/red and starts to bug shipbuilders.

Some shipbuilders strongly believe that having a less-than-perfect dura on it would somehow cause the chance of gs to drop and the chance of failure to rise; but I personally think that is just a myth.

I prefer the saw over the sword, simply because the +1 to Handicrafts bonus I see as far more useful then the +2 to Tactics when it comes to shipbuilding. Yes it only has 5 durability, but they can be easily replaced.

The sword does indeed come from The Whydah shipwreck, but it has a low probability drop. And since the Whydah is discovery shipwreck, im pretty sure you can get that only once, unless you lose the discovery card for it. Ive raised over 400 SWs here and NEVER gotten ships like the Bom Jesus, etc again once ive raised it.

Anyway I wouldn't fret over it. As I said, I think the Saw is more useful.

It must be an extreme rare drop.   I pick up that the Whydah SW, 2 days before the game went down.  I have nearly that many SWs and just got basic stuff.
