My Wish List, What's yours?

My wish list
1. Everything transfers AS IS, no wipe.
2. Papaya
finds way to make lots of money so they will be willing to reinvest in
the game, particularly to attract new players (newbies)
3. When
changes are made in the future, there will be less grinding, because in
today's world, newbies want instant success and gratification with more
action to keep their interest, and without newbies, income for Papaya
decreases and .the game gets sold off again.
4. Uncharted Waters gains at least half as many players as Grand Theft Auto, but each has more intelligence
.
My character is (xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx), and I would appreciate hearing other players wish lists.

Actions to take in order to make your wish list fulfilled (regarding to each point):

    1. Server wide pre-order on papaya credits
Be ready to purchase premium items once you transfer over. Papaya probably can have a server wide purchase mission. Once the total pre-order of papaya credit exceeds a certain threshold, it means the server will be transferred. Otherwise it will be a wipe. And pre-order is turned into usable credit if a transfer occurs, or refund if the transfer does not occur.

After all, players make wishes come true with their wallets, not with their words or whinges.

    2. Introduce premium only contents, not P2W, but P2-B-Cool
For example, being able to teleport among landmarks in a landing area, endless use of auto navigate while the fleet carries no trade goods.

    3. Level permit and skill rank permit
Instantly gain a level or rank upon use - none tradable, free one is given as monthly login reward while additional can be purchased via the premium shop.

    4. There is no answer to how to fulfil this particular wish

'newbies want instant success and gratification with more
    action to keep their interest'
I don't believe that's the spirit of UWO.

    1. I hope for a constructive co-operation between player base and papaya management. I thereby mean democratic decisions and changes improving and pleasing the majority of players will be adjusted only!

    2. I somehow hope for more abilities to stock items in, such as my real life apartment does, I can stack huuuuuuuuge amounts of useless shit in there, but that is what ppl love! We love to keep what we have hehe...

    3. I hope for a balanced gameplay that pleases as well piracy fans as trade- and explore fans.

    4. I hope Papaya will transfer the server as it was without a wipe. At least in the beginning, so we can all manage our belongings and adapt / prepare ourselves for future ANNOUNCED changes.

    5. No pay-2-win!!! Paid items are welcome, to benefit the game but rather play-2-be-cool (just learned that here) and pay-for-prestige items. Nothing that dis-encourage poor newbies or poor ppl in general.

My overall ideal scenario is to start with papaya as a host on the existing server, to optimize it initially and once it is optimized, to start a second server for whoever is interested in starting the adventure all over in a new optimized server. That way current progress and toons and friends and... are still at your disposal too.

    Yours,
     Flo!
    Be safe and prosper!

    Appreciate everyone's feedback.
I guess what I don't really understand since I love this game so much is why it doesn't attract new players who have less time to spend playing.  Less time seems to be a problem for everyone these days.

So adding to my wish list, I would like to add some feature that allows new players to find more success and bigger rewards right away when they first begin playing.

    1. Automate

Allow player to give your alts order especially sea battle or production while you control main toon.

    2. Remove waiting for skill books

I think it's ridiculous for us to wait 15 days before we can use it again.

    3. Undo nerfs such as dungeons and  piracy

    That's what players need.

    4. Papaya needs to keep  UWO from become PTW (Pay to Win) like OGP did.

OGP caused UWO to become PTW because of their blunders ie bad credit and other reaosns. If you remember red message that they want you to spend more on astro since it started 1 or 1 1/2 year ago. Also, they nerfed bunch things and took out LSS and some sails then put it into astro shop.

    5. Limit to 6 Accounts per IP

I can understand some players have family to play UWO as well ,but there is no reasons for players like David/Harry to create massive of accounts. I remember one player got banned when he showed off that he can log on 100 players at once.

Can someone please explain "nerfs" benefits or detriments to me.
What is a "nerf". How or why did they happen?
  • FrozenRubyFrozenRuby Posts: 286Member Intermediate
yes lets see to define a nerf or a downgrade, adjustment or change to a item ruleset or gameplay content,
why they happened mostly because they needed to or too many players bugged the admins to get stuff changed, a good example maybe players complained about the ESBT's being too powerful sit in seville and run dungeons that are in EA over and over flooding the market with nanban goods. because it was so op it took them months to nerf the ESBT's, so they couldn't be abused like that anymore. another example, black sea used to be hostile waters which occasionally went safe. why it was changed no clue figured players wanted all of eu safe waters so enough complained of pirate attacks and such near safe harbors that it was changed can only assume on that one.

    1. Remove needless nerfs to piracy and deck

    2. Balance deck like on Chinese server where it's still useful but can't be initiated if you have deck barrier

    3. Set improved hold back to before it was 100% piracy protection.

    4. Remove 24 hour piracy guard

    5. Papaya outlaws piracy spotter alts

    6. Remove farming of all players

    7. They add an epic land feud.

    8. Add a pay item to halve build time of ships that stack with the Oxford skill

    9. A lot of vets come back and rebuild the new world

    @CPC

How do you remove 24 hour piracy guard and stop farming of players at the same time? Is this not a contradiction?
    Babybear72
  • CrzyPsycoChickCrzyPsycoChick Posts: 667Member Intermediate
@killa No it two different things

24 hour guard means if your attacked you cant be attacked for 24 hours by that pirate thats wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too long an hour or possibly 2 is better imo  like Zim also said.

Farming however is when you're attacked you can immediately be attacked again  ie.  pirates    repeat  consecutive back to back sinking is what I mean.  It serves no purpose but to humiliate as you get nothing from it. I think if you get sunk you lose  you get 1 hour to recover simple.

btw, such farming as cpc describes was the original cause of pirate nerfs

    My wishlist:

When server opens people work together to rebuild our beloved game

Take the items we manufacture in the game using our skills or can gain through actual questing out of the cash shop! (this really put a squash on people wanting to manufacture things that could easily be bought with cash.) Examples: QMPS- earned through questing SWMP- gathered while exploring and sailing and manufacturing, MCCT, LCCT these things are made by players and should not be in a cash shop. It directly affects the market and the mechanics of the game. *anything that can be obtained in-game by players from players should not be in cash shop period.

Find a way like on japan server to make SSIPS available to shipbuilders without spending cash money for them. There are plenty of other ways to get money from players this actually makes many people think whats the point of shipbuilding when I have to purchase the items to upgrade ships.

Give an option for people to pay a monthly subscription if you need money don't just toss things we can all make in the cash shop.

There are ship skills and oxford skills being wasted at this point because we have Improve ship hold needs to be fixed because it is highly overpowered whats the use of grinding out storage just get a ship with that and your all set.. not to mention it does mess with the pirates and the balance. Nothing should be 100%

The bounty hunter/pirate system is broken. If a pirate/privateer attacks players and purposely let them win the battle that player or payers are then turned to bounty hunters instantly. This is not okay. Defending yourself should never get you turned blue. A player chooses to be red or orange right now they can also choose to target people and turn them blue or bounty hunters because they then can farm them as many times as they want without a reset.

One of the things I didn't like about the old server was once all the ports were fully developed and canals open. There was little else to work together with the rest of our nation. Currently, your nation owning a port only gives you a tax reduction and a few other minor benefits. I wish there were national goals (this would work well with the development of our Industrial Ports) to keep the nation working on common goals.

Also, a revamp to the national colony. Make it more rewarding for people to actually deliver and develop the national colonies. The rewards should be a bit better than a few Patriot Awards. (These can be farmed by doing IQ) Recognition from Mother countries other than just Patriot Awards.)

I am sure there are more things but these things are top of the shelf for me.

I posted some of this one, as part to other responses.  I tried to keep the ideas within the current
structure of the game and with minimum modifications needed.  My wish list would be:

    1.
Improvements for Company Directors to simplify
    managing companies:

    ·
An indicator on the Company’s Member list, that
shows which members have completed their contributions or assigned an aide to
    an aide fleet.

    a.
For companies that are not full of Alts, the
amount of time this would save their directors is significant.   I know the argument about making players
send emails when they are done.  In companies
with 40+ players and less than 5 alts, it can be a like herding cats.

    ·
An indicator or name color change on the company’s
member list, when a member has not logged in for 30 and 60 days.

    a.
This would allow members to reach out, to the
absent ones or simplify removing inactives that would drop soon anyways.  This is especially true for the number of new
players who, join a company and then quit the game.

    ·
Increase the amount of (typing) characters in company
emails, to equal in length of regular player to player emails.

    Note:
One positive change, was the shared company storage, it makes the distribution
of contributions (that are not ship parts) a lot easier.

Only one, since they decided to wipe us out cold-heartedly: make UWO pay-to-play
Im not gonna try to change their mind about the wipe, because apparently they're not gonna listen.
If a wipe is the only way they can come up with, why dont they make it pay-to-play instead of keeping it the old broken way (which will only lead us to another doomsday)?
Jap server has been going on pay-to-play for 8+ years, and showing no signs of slowing down.
Some of my friend also play there, and they said each month in ESF they got more and more crowd.

    1. economy wipe all  money and nc items
    2.no more bottle ships
    3 no more flags
    4. no more 24 hour rule
    5. deck battle return
    6. for people to understand piracy is what keeps the economy in check ,
(what happens to any ecology when you remove all predators)
7.tributes = something worth while for pirates or optional in hostile waters

above all if you donot want to be pirated thats  still your choice  STAY IN SAFE WATERS

I was hoping they'd create viable sinks.  Plunder, ship loss, maybe a reincarnation system to promote players starting over with some bonus stats at the expense of 100b or so.

    This kinda sucks, though.

Wipe the game, and remove the pay 2 win cash shop. With only cosmetics in the cash shop.
  • pieratthepieratthe Posts: 419Member Intermediate
Yes FARMING is BAD. Once sunk (not attacked) you get a decent length green flag so i can make it to port.  but this, i get a bad click and u happen to run out of circle, nope should still be that crap time length flag, maybe drop that to 1-2 minutes.

If OGP being the butt-hole they were, deleted the game data, there IS NO SERVER to transfer people. Your stuff got lost by all those people who jacked the game up with stupid nerfs.  Do you think OGP was actually going to invest the time to do the transfer, it was more cost effective to delete the data and move on.

So stop asking for account transfer, it doesn't exist anymore and it's NOT Papaya's fault.

    2.  Make
all ships buildable by players.  Let
shipbuilders be shipbuilders again, instead of ship improvers and upgraders.

    Make all ships, including astro
ships, buildable by players at specific ports or company colonies.  Astro ships can stay in bottles but, have a
system for shipbuilder to same ship.  To
do this without losing any income and generating more income for Papaya:

Create 3 types of new Astro Tickets.  “Modification Permit Tickets” (MPT), could be
a ticket, like EA Shipbuilding Permits.
MPT would sell for 149 Astros each and the 3 types are:

    • A Ship Hull AMPT would be used,
when building hull that gives skill/attribute bonuses, which normally come from
bottle ships.  Example: Metal Work + Teak
Paneling + (Ship Hull) AMPT = Large Flat Hull (like for Schooners) w/
      Wave-resistant armoring.
    • A Sail AMPT would be used to
make improved sail parts.  Example: Large
Gaff Sail + (Sail) AMPT Item+100 Silk Fabric = Delphin Gaff Sail
    • A Ship Part AMPT used to make
improved ship parts. Example: Anti-rolling tank + Admiral Cabin + (ship part)
      AMPT = Shipside Tank
Create a different 3 types of
new Astro Ticket.  “Ship Requirement Mod
Tickets” (SRMT) would reduce levels requirements for any ship.  The SRMTs sell for 149 Astros each.
    • There would be different
SRMTs for each type of requirement: Adventure, Trade and Maritime.
    • 1 SRMT would reduce the guild
level requirement of a ship by 5 levels.
With a cap on the maximum total requirement reduction at -30 levels per
      ship.
    • Example:  Patrol Corvette requirements start at 72/29/
      32.  Buy 5 ship requirement mod tickets
for 149 astro each (4 Adventure and 1 Maritime).   Use the tickets and the Patrol Corvette now
calls for 52/29/27 at a cost of 894 Astros.
    What does this accomplish:
    1. Players go through dozens of ships.  They want better ships or get bored with
their old ones.  So there would be a high
      demand for this tickets.
    2. This would be a much-improved
revenue stream for Papaya and more effective for the players.
    3. It would begin addressing all
the complaints about the in-game economy and the super inflated selling prices
of bottle ships without flooding the market, with unwanted bottle items.
    4. This would significantly
reduce the current inflation of ship prices and put shipbuilders and ship part
      makers back to work.
    5. Players could still pay
billions of ducats for a fully modded and graded ship, with level requirement
reductions already installed OR, they could pay a few 100 million ducats for a
high-end ship build, where they supply the parts and use astros to lower the
      levels to what they need.

    1.      Add Quarters to Private Farms.  For the sake of this conversation, call them “plantations”.

Apply the same structures, requirements and improvement methods
that exists for players quarters, but the plantations will be on to the private
    farms.

    • This will get players going to the farms,
increase sea traffic and ambush points.
    • Give the plantations, the same storage functions
as Quarters.  You can sail to the
plantation and add/remove anything you want, at any time.   You could also add items to the plantation
storage at any major city, but there is 1 exception to item removal.
    • The Plantation stored removable items, are
only accessed at major cities.  The
number of removable items would be limited by the grade of the plantation.  One item per type, per grade.  Example: R2 Plantation holds 4 Ship parts, only
2 can be selected for removed each day, from a major city.

Plantations would also have Stewards, mannequins
    and furniture to increase storage.

    • It would also increase Steward Quests, because
no one likes the default steward.

Just like Trade Goods in Quarters, Trade Goods
could only be removed at the plantation.
But trade goods could be transferred directly to the plantation from the
    private farm warehouse.

Plantations would also have docks.  Like the Caribbean Docks.

    • Plantation docks would only be accessible at
the private farm, major cities and company colonies.
    • Dock capacity increases with Plantation Grade.
1 ship inventory slot per Grade.  (+1 to
      +5 Ship inventory slots)
    • An extra berth could be purchase at the
plantation with Patriot Awards and ducats. (+1 Ship inventory slot)
    • Current Dock expansion Astro items could also
be applied to Plantation Docks up to max +4 Ship inventory slots.
    • That is 10 additional ship inventory
slots.  This cures the problem, of
players being able to hold enough material ships, while trying to increase ship
grade.  Most players also have main ships
and the 3 battle ships need for ESF, in our ship inventory.

    4.  Give
Aide Captains storage.  Players gain the
benefits of Aide ships carrying cargo.
This is what has helped in-game ducat revenues explode.

Only Aide Captains would have storage
    capabilities, like regular players.
Their storage would increase with their levels.  Initially they would start with 10 slots (5
Capt Bag slots and 5 Binder Slots) until the Aides total levels equal 30.  Then for every 5 total levels they gain 1
slot, with a max of 30 slots (20 open inventory, 5 Capt Bag and 5 Binder).

    • Example: Aide Captain has levels 40/50/30.  10 slots to start + 19 slots from advancement
      = 29 extra inventory slots.
    • Aide Captain storage would be activated by 100
Patriot Awards and payment in ducats… Like a Dock Permit.
    • Items carried by an Aide Captain would be
protected against plunder, unless the aide ship is activated into battle.
    • Astro items could be purchased, just like main
characters, by giving the aide captains access to short term or long term
      strong boxes.

Make the 5 items that are given to any aide to
“wear”, returnable to the player.  This with
    some rules:

    • The items are only accessible if the Aide is
traveling with the player or, the player is at their quarters
    • Items held (not stored in the Aide Captain’s
storage) would having their durability reduced while travelling.  (-1 durability point per 100 days at sea, applied
      to each item.)

Ideas #3 and #4, would significantly reduce the need for
    multiple characters.  Item and ship
    inventories would be significantly expanded.
And on regular intervals, Astros would need to be purchased.

    5.  Give
players more reasons to go to Amsterdam, Venice, Lisbon and Marseilles.  England has London, Oxford, and now
Manchester close by.   Seville is the
    center of selling everything.
    Suggestions:

    • A train like in America that link a new city
like, Zurich or Munich to Amsterdam, Marseilles and Venice.
    • More production options in Paris to encourage
      travel through Marseilles.  The Lourve
has does not draw players there.
    • Add Budapest as a city, and a Dungeon at
Dracula’s Castle, that is accessed by chariot from Venice.
To get access to the chariot, it should be
      part of an Adventure quest.
Maybe as an incentive, put some rare items in
      hidden passages.

Land charts can be completed as is, and the
benefits of charting would be immediately given to the player.  But instead of automatically getting the XP
and Fame Points.  Give discovery cards
for each charted land area.  When they
are reported in Mercator in Amsterdam, that is when the XP and Fame is given.

Sea Charting could be handled the same way as
above, with Reporting to an NPC in Lisbon or Venice.

    Amsterdam, Marseilles, and Venice are
production cities for the Astro Modified Parts, discussed in Suggestion #2...
Astro modified parts can only be produced in these 3 cities or a company’s
colony (if the colony has both parts of the ship yard).

    • Amsterdam – Improved Sails
    • Marseilles – Improved Ship Parts
    • Venice – Improved Hulls

    6.  NPC
shops and bottles items need to be reviewed, along with bazaars.

Items that take more than R4 production skills,
either should not be available in NPC shops or the quantities should be limited
and the pricing fluctuate based on inventory at a NPC peddler.

    • Example:
Request Investment Books – at one time were player produced or reward
ticket items.  They started selling them
for 1000 ducats in Florence with a 15th Century time period.
    • The
NPC undercut the market value and the point of having them as a contribution
item.   The materials cost more than 1000
      ducats to produce a RIB.
    • This removed
a useful source of income from beginning or mid-level merchants.  They used to sell in company shops for 35k-150k
      ducats.

Consumable Items that are sold in NPC shop or
tavern, are ineffective company contribution items because, no one must work
    together.

    • If a piece of equipment/ ship part is used as
a company contribution, 1 player can haul around 4-12 items back, to share with
1 or 2 company mates.  They also spend 20-80M
ducats to purchase the items (example: Jade Necklace).
    • If RIBs, MCCTs, or consumable item, like Tuna
Olive Steaks were sold in by a NPC, one player could carry 999 back and hand
them out to 10-12 company mates, at a cost of 1-20M ducats.

Rare items in bottles significantly undercut market
values… the SB+1 Book takes hours plundering, and when it came in a bottle item,
prices dropped and undercut the value of a player’s efforts.

    • Some of the rare plunder items should also be
available as difficult memorabilia reward or in 9-star shipwreck.

Raise ducat limits for the Player Bazaar and the
Aide Bazaar ducat.  Max value a player should
be allowed to carry is 500M or 999,999,999 ducats.

    • Inflation
drove the price up on so many things, that 100M per item cap is not enough.
    • For
items under 500M ducats, players don’t want to spend time shouting WTB/WTS
      message.
    • With
the price of grading and improving ships, the price of ships have gone up
beyond what can be sold in the bazaars.
Significantly better Light and Standard class ships could be sold in
Bazaars, with this higher ducat cap.
    • This would also open the door for more players getting into the first 2 rounds of ESF.  Many
avoid ESF because, there are not enough a decent number of quality ships in
those classes for sale, prior to the ESF.
    • It
potentially would sell more Astro SSIPs and the purposed Astro Ship Tickets,
      generating more revenue for Papaya.

Make SSIPs a recipe so players can produce them: Handicrafting R15 Recipe: 1 Original Ship Permit + 100 MCCT + 1 Improved Steel Sheet = 3-4 SSIP

Remove the Special Investment Bond for 200M
ducats from the game.  Replace it with a new
    astro item:  special reinvestment bond,
that allows a player to invest any amount, of their own ducats, and get a 3X
the Fame and 2X Trade XP bonus.   This
would put the funding back into the players ability to earn ducats and not
their ability to buy an Astro item.

    7.  Drop
the daily experience and skill bonuses.
Return to the monthly weekends or holidays, that had either 1.5 or 2
times the XP and/or the 1.5 or 2 times the Skill XP event.

    • A lot of players used to plan and show up for
      those weekends/holidays.  Something given
every day is not an incentive.
    • If those weekends were, the weekend after
company contributions reset or the weekend before ESF, each month, it would
engage more players in making contributions or prepping for the ESF.
    • Keep the Daily Quests, for those who play
      every day.

    8.     Change
plundering at sea and remove the blue flags.

A fair alternative to the blue flags,
that benefits to the pirates is an improved Fine Goods tributes.

    • Players
can make Fine Goods Tributes (by ship class) and sell them.  Papaya wanted
to make an astro item, sell sets of 5 Fine Goods Tributes for 79 Astros.
    • Currently,
one Fine Goods Tribute is given to a pirate, the trader loses 1/2 your ducats
and cannot be attacked by the same pirate for a time.   That is not
worth the effort to make the Fine Good Tributes.
Proposed change:  Fine Good Tributes = Protection of 20% ducats
and cargo (not items) and a 20 minute no attack (green) flag.  Also a Trader could hand over up to 5 Fine
Good Tributes to protect all their money and cargo.
    • Benefit to the Pirate:
    • The option to trade a number of Fine
Good Tributes for items, on the same premise as the Gold Nuggets
Exchange.  Different groups of items on the Exchange each month.
    • Second option for the pirate can
convert the Fine Goods Tributes back to their production materials at a pirate
city and sell the trade good.
    • With the benefit to the Traders, the
Pirate could also resell the Fine Goods Tributes, in a bazaar for even more
      ducats.
Items should go back to being plundered, if they
could be protected, in the same way they are protected from accidently being
sold.  However if a player forgets to
turn on the save function and get plundered, it’s their own fault.
