    I liked the old game just fine, noobness. It was full of fond memories, dear friends, a well-developed world, and one we built with our hours of devotion, and untold finances. To take all that away and offer us a few trinkets in exchange... as I said, what's the point? If it happened once, it could happen again. MMOs cannot survive if their player base does not trust the people running them, and this move would sink the trust of many of the veterans who worked so hard to make playing UWO fun in the first place.

    The game was only half of it. The community was the other half. Reset both, and you'll find there won't be much left worth to play for.

    They can recode without a wipe. they can remove items without a wipe, they can add or remove anything , item or game mechanics without a wipe. if it the imbalance between long time players , some of which spent thousands of USD on this game ,who have an encyclopedic knowledge of the game nad low vlv /new players , then the vets have the knowledge to progress much faster. the problem is they are very angry and rightly so , that the spent all that time and invested so much money , they fell its a slap in the face, which it is . they say the " we put users first, consistently reaching out to our gaming communities and keeping communication open.".                           this statement is utter BULLSHIT

    IDK what issues they decided to fix but if you take time to read the message they left they said they would take the opportunity to fix issues....notice in the message they didn't say "what issues" Here since you are to lazy to read it yourself "The UWO Team will be using the relaunch through Papaya Play as an opportunity to revamp many aspects of PvP Battles, including plundered items and Deck Battle frequency, plus a number of other system rebalances."

    So as far as everyone complaining on spending real money on the game and now it's all gone. I ask you. If a MMO closes for good....do you still lose your money and everything you achieved in said game? I will answer for you YES YOU DO....Like I said before. At least you still get to play the game. or don't. Doesn't really matter to me. People say they are going to quit but they will all be back they always do come back.

    For anyone saying this is 'bad business' did you forget that OGP just shuttered because they weren't making money?

    Papaya has the financials, I doubt there were more than 10 regular spenders left by the end, and most of them were so maxed out they hardly had a reason to buy bottles anymore besides boredom and addiction.

    Sorry for the unceremonious end to GAMA, it is a pretty raw deal. The writing was on the wall months ago and people believed the GM "everything is fine!" posts in the forums which really sucks. But for those of you who spent a ton on Netmarble and OGP bucks, you were supporting two of the shadiest internet game companies I've ever seen and this kind of thing should be expected. You did it for love of the game (and a little lust for virtual prestige) but you should have known better. Someone inside OGP was clearly selling / stealing your card data at the end and still people kept buying.

    The end of an era. RIP to our characters, we'll remember em at least.

    Here's to new beginnings! There will be a surge of disaffected players that quit from the various regions this game operates in coming in for the fresh start, it could be great fun if Papaya is any different than Netmarble and OGP were. Skeptical here but I'll remain hopeful. Happy sailing everyone, I'll be hauling dutch courage down to my friends in Africa in a few weeks, I'll see you there!

    Let s say that the old players will join the game again and start all over from 0...and let s say that alot of players will invest again alot of money in the game,alot of time...PAPAYA can guarantee us that in 1,2 months or 1 year this shit won t happent again??Can they give us some guarantee that the server won t be closed again and reset again after we all invest cash and time in this game?? Can they do that?
    How many times these players have to start all over again from 0? We have to throw away real money,days and years from our lives and start over every time? Nobody cares about the players...they only care about money.
    We will see how many from thoes players who ask a reset will invest real money in the game,we will see how many old players who quit playing some years ago will come back to the game,and we will see if new players will come in the game.After that Papaya will see and some of you who ask for a reset if their decision was right.

    No amount of convincing and saying "a new start will be good" will ever persuade any player that taking away their progress of their character is good, and some put it, all for a few trinkets.

    The High Lvls are from the Barca days, I was one of the last. people did not play for perks or boosts, their was none.

    I do not think they really understand the nature of the playing community here.

    i played for 7 years and still buying , speed buffs, proficiency buffs, blue flags for those pesky npc fleet attacks , NPC , SSIP. still plenty to spend money on ,

    I read this whole thread and find it actually quit funny that people are losing their minds over a game including yourself HelloAll LOL! Yeah you see a "60min update" but obviously the dev's saw a reset. So....since you have the source code, know whats going on in it, and know how to save the toons with just an update pass that info to the dev's. I am sure they would appreciate your expertise in the field of game making. Cause your obviously a better programmer than all the people combined that made UWO.

    The point, noobness, is that while MMOs do eventually close, rendering all our progress and achievements, gains and investments meaningless... that's when they close. When they do that and try to continue running anyway, it's very poor form and even new players will be tainted by the bad experience of those who went before them. "If that's how they treated veterans who spent 1000s of currency on the game... why should I hope to be treated any better?" And thus they'll take their business elsewhere.

    I understand the frustration of those that have spent real $ and thousands of hours. Part of the allure of this game is the acquisition of goods, building something for yourself and your community. The very thing that’s going to be needed now with a clean slate. I know for me in Ultima Online, once in a while a situation would put me back to where I had to start from scratch. It was kinda’ neat in a way. I got to experience things, do stuff I hadn’t done in years. Brought back a little of the magic as any old-timer knows at some point in the game the magic seems to fade.

     

    I know it’s not ideal, I understand the frustration. But I think those who were drawn to the strengths of this game will remain to rebuild themselves as well as the nations and economy. This sucks, I get it. And ya’ll have a right to express your dissatisfaction. But I would encourage the community to rebuild, get back to your roots. There will be some that quit, that’s ok. But there are others that have that bond who will return and embrace the change.

    It is funny, not the ha ha way, the people that supported the server wipe will try to convince people to start over a game that just died unexpectedly by one provider. If that was not shocking enough, now a server wipe.

    To start over while we who put much effort and time, money, get all our progress deleted. lol

    If troubles about this game were not enough,let add to it. This is like building the ship at sea.

    Any ways you all take care. Hopefully more positive news will come and steer the game away from the rocks

    @CPC .. . . I will miss you.  I only kept playing because I had awesome ships, and another player with more money, time, and experience who only knows battle could no longer take my hard-earned items.  Well, now it's all gone!  I am not going back to a barca to level up and be raped by a player who grinds battle 24/7

    like the guy in the rowboat in the Oil Tanker tank full of oil, in Water World, when the match was dropped in it . . .

    "oh, Thank God" . . . it's over.

    I was playing the last hour before OGP's service concluded. I thought that new adventures and new start will wait after the relaunch even if there were many bazaars with text: "end of the world". Now i'm just thinking: "WOW! They really made it...they decided to make a "new start"! N-I-C-E, W-E-L-L D-O-NE guys! WOW, just WOW!"

    This isn't end of the world, just end of the universe lol. Are papaya guys enjoying the our pain or something?

    Aww CCP don't quit listen nobody can rape you as everyone will be in barcas also I know how to build ships make money any ship you need I can build.   And since no damage from inflation nobody will be overcharging at the moment for anything. Also we got batch crafting and land canals so we can do everything super fast and get right back.

    CCP you'll be fine CPC and TEF got ur back.  In fact maybe we should build battle ships this time around and attack the pirates lol.   Don't give up

     Well, I may play on the wiped server, but spend money? Forget about it. If I do play, it will be F2P for the whole 6 months the game survives.

    OK, so...i just have to understand...game is going to reset and we have to start from the beginning...Oh..it sounds pain but memories...i remember the time when i used barca and was destroyed by caravels.

    It's quite hard to think about brightsides in this situation where players are going to lose all things. But UWO is...amazing game...what should we do then XD? But that's sure...even if i play the game again i won't spend money as @Oberrill said.

    My 7 years of gameplay.  My Expedition Tea Clipper, Large Trade Clipper, Dragon C2, Festive Caoyun, Custom Vaiss, Transport Sha Chaun, Mod First Class Vaiss, Custom LaRoyale, Ezio's old Custom Turkish Galley, Custom Ambush Siam, Flemish Galleon, Custom Merchant Carrack, Modified Frigate . . .all of them modded, some with rare, special paint rainbow sails.

    My Blacksmith Job, Pattisier, Artisan, Professor of Voyages

    My three, 100-attack breech-loaders, my 100 attack Raikiri Lightning sword that I spent real money on.  My half dozen Abelam Tribe Brooches, half dozen Bow Angel Cannons I spent a fortune on.

    My dozen Farms, from all 4 farms, with colored ore, tuna, oysters, resin, logs, berries, beehives . . .

    7 years of gameplay, and I had all that.  I have the highest levels of all my toons.  What are my levels?: 

    Cocoa-Puff:     51/68/33   r16 cooking, r16 handicrafts, r14 spice
    Cocoa-Pebbles  40/61/28   r16 casting, r8 SB, r9 spice

    Why so low after 7 years?  Because I have a Life.  It's a damn miserable handicapped paralyzed feet and crippled hands life, but it's still a life.  I cannot forget all the items I had, and the 7 year struggle to get them.  I would never refine any skill.  Pebbles has been working this year on Management r10 to get on a Nanban Ship, she made it to 9 and a half.

    No, CPC, this is the final blow.  If I didn't have crippled hands and need to use 2 mouse, I might make a joke pirate and sink everything.  I have been crying all day, and I will get this grief out of my system.  I will spend the rest of my life watching TV, because my phone can't play mindless Bubble Witch Candy Ass Crush games.

    no thanks, I play this game alone.  I do not fleet.  I have no battle games, I despise being on a team.  I was never good enough to be on a team.  Never did battle campaign, never did an epic sea "food".  My 9 accounts and 18 toons kept my company number one. my dozen farms kept me self-sufficient.  I never multied on spice runs, was just me and my aide ship.  I stayed on private status usually.  I wish this game came on private DVD disk.  Even with all my toons, I bought Astros regularly;  I was starting to buy a lot of Astros, to increase the Captain's Bag . . . all of  that is gone.

    Ok so a completet wipe... and still 3 weeks for the transfer.. what are they doing.... better be good or alot will quit.. i will give it a try with some serious bitterness but if it doesnt meet all expectations i will probably say "Goodbye UWO"

    Very bad news on the wipe. Alot of money spent by alot of people to wipe and the compensation will not reflect it...

    Not a great marketing call if you ask me.

    This publisher isnt afraid to make the big decisions ill give them that, i was not expecting a wipe or a fresh start server to be honest.  Been asking for one for going on 4 years now and it finnaly happened.

    If nothing else, it gives me hope maybe this publisher is going to do what it takes to make UWO work again, and totaly avoid the pay to win items this time around.

    Lets all just start our plans for the 18th shall we!  Theres no sense to hate on Papaya games, OGP could have been unable to find a new publisher at all or perhaps another thats just terrible(still have to see how papaya plays this out before i judge them)

    Thank you to all the staff at papaya/vertigo for your support of my favorite game, ill do my best to return that support in game!
