Guess they don't us to keep playing

General Discussion
Why buy a game then destroy it? Why piss off the entire player base of a niche game? What is Papaya thinking? Are they thinking or just taking the easy way out of a complicated situation and hoping for the best? Or do they seriously not give a damn?
Feel free to leave your IGN here if you don't think you'll play again, maybe we can change their minds if they see all of us in one spot.

    I think some questions should never asked, Server wipe is one of them it just led to trouble and possibly the end of this game.

    Worse is the way they went about it. They announced it as transfers account, which I thought was good until I read the rest of it and went to the forum.

    Why brother transferring your account, just make new one.

    Taking away from the game is the way to make a new start or add new updates.

    I do think they realize how volatile this situation is.

    The 1st news we get about the new start is a wipe, with unknown compensation for years spent playing a game.

    I hope Papaya is looking at this forum

    Maybe i will play the first week or so, i havnt decided yet. I am very very very angry that there has been no communication with the community , except for the announcement that they are going to wipe all accounts , yet keep the expansion. is for eye candy for new players . ooh look what you can do in this game , but forgetting it will take them a few years to experience it , while those who do play will romp ahead , free buffs or no free buffs.
     Pretty sure if i do play it will not be for long before i say " stick your fucking game up your arse and i hope your next shite is a hedgehog ".   cya all around sometime somewhere , or maybe now

    It's been pointed out that KOEI may have made this call, rather than Papaya. But there is no amount of compensation that can in any way recoup the loss of years of players' lives, nor the money people spent to support the game.

    They think a reset will make all the player to invest more money in the game.So it s all about the money. They don t think about the players from what i see...

    It would have been far easier for them to transfer than wipe and actually change things about the game.

    Up in the air whether or not the changes will be any good for us. It's clear though that what whales were left weren't enough to keep the lights on.

    Blame OGP for milking you right to the last minute instead of giving any kind of warning.

    Here's hoping for the best. On the upside, sailing carracks and arabian galleys is pretty fun when that's what everyone else is in too. It will be interesting to see what happens here at least. Many of us out here that love what the game could be but were totally done with GAMA. Sorry for your loss of time and money everyone, that really sucks.

    not sure why i wast time on transfer my account to papaya today, since im not going to login to uwo again

    as Founders Rewards is only going to be xp boost and outher stuff  and will not going to help ppl that have playd uwo for 7+ years. still to play uwo

    I'm guessing they actually do want us to keep playing, and I'll oblige them. It's going to be mighty lonely out on the ocean by myself though, almost like all the people that left the country after our last election.

    You know whats funny?  I played off and on (mostly on) for 10 years and saved every consumable I got.  I had stacks of rare consumables, with plans to use them in my twilight years.  Forget the thousands of dollars spent on port investments that did not even gain me a thing anyway.  Forget the thousands of dollars to max out a ship i never actually got to use in true combat.  I wish a different company had bought UWO.  If I was in a better situation, I would have certainly bid for it myself... but hell, who even knew it was for sale?

    For those players who want reset/wipe server, they'd better not to bail out on us then quit when they start to get behind other players. Not to mention they will have to spend money on cash shop. Hmm

    I would prefer a server wipe with changes to plunder and deck battle over a transfer without any changes.

    Luckily for me, I never spent much time grinding. On the bright side, I started behind like most of you probably did as well.. This time, we're all on a somewhat level playing field. You're gonna either need to play a ton to keep up, or pay to win..

    What Data Will Be Transferred To Papaya Play Through The Transfer Service?


    Unfortunately, your character progress and inventory will not be moved as part of the Transfer Service. The Transfer Service will designate your account as a ‘Founder’ Uncharted Waters account, which will entitle you to Founders Rewards and other special perks following the relaunch on Papaya Play.

    I'm pretty disgusted too, I was one of the few people in game with +20 -0 plates and has the best LLM on the server. I'm not a quitter though, and actually pretty excited to wreck people on a level playing field. Almost level anyway, it's pay to win.. You know I ain't paying them shit though, so I'll just have to work harder..

    I won't be playing anymore, and on October 18th I'll probably feel like crying, but it will probably be for the best. There are always other things to do.

    Hi mama, zorly here, well im believe they didnt have the technical capacity to be able to transfer the players database (like using a diferent database type) or it be extremely troublesome. And they just having the account name transfer to keep record of those players to whom must give some compensation.

    stop crying it is what the game needed .... ill give up my 7 nation r20 sber  all my maxed skills , nanban fleet capable of 6k cargo  per run 1000 x over for the piracy fix and server rebalance , economy as well as what this game was intended to be.

    It's not papaya play doing the reset ffs... Be glad Koei hasn't decided to officially do away with GAMA with all the mistakes that OGP did.

    If you truly loved this game you would accept this move. I don't mind having a reset and i've been playing for 5 years.

    They did the same wipe with booster presents to La Tale, so it seems unlikely Koei is to blame, except in agreeing to allow it.

    For me the restart is not only Papaya's way of saying "So long" but also suggesting it would actually be fun to do everything over again. Maybe they honestly believe it. Maybe its true of other games. All I know is in real life I wouldn't want 7 years thrown away or to lose everything I worked towards.

    Papaya is effectively firing me.

    My goal in the game was to collect every discovery, but there's no way I can bring myself to reobtain 2600+ of them, so I guess this is the end. I was never really one to socialize, but thank you to everyone I debated over the years.

    the few players that leave , 50 % will return and others lost are worth the game play being returned .All the nerfs , the economy being rediculous ...makes the game unplayable to new people unless they have thousands $$ to pay thier way. no new people stick around long enough when everything seems unobtainable.

    @evilmedieval: just wait, you will feel exactly the same in a year.  You are making a false assumption, like the assumption that the cure for evil is to destroy most of mankind and start from scratch.  No offense... but how will you feel when they wipe your server two years from now?

    IGN LeVatiquois, active since July 2012 with the occational monthly breaks. Moderate real money spender, buying my own monthly storage, SSIPs, NPCs and the odd convenience item.

    I'm so not coming back after a wipe.

    Might be relevant to add that while the game was still on, practically 100% of my friends there who don't frequent the forums were adamant clear they wouldn't be back in that event.

    you do notice among the years we got a 50%+ exp gain for all actions, and huge amounts of content, and the only thing ever "removed" was forcing Deck Battle (trivial without equip swordplay or techs), reducing dungeon  and nanban income( which will break economy in a week if they reinstate) and Reducing Grieving spans from pirates no?.

    while a lot less interested now on whatever they do with it, they either return to an earlier version which means no deck battle implemented, no recipe books or trade goods  or ships to build and poor or worse ship improvements parts, and of course no dungeons or nanban, or they just delete the accounts and reset the investment which means months before you can even approach the content they flaunt at you just to make you feel worse, but same nerfs altogether.

    I'd say that's very relevant, LeVatiquois. Sad to see yours and so many other names -- wednesday, Audrid, mamacat, and more -- among those who plan to leave... but very understandable, given the circumstances.
