Disapointed in *Vet* players

I don't care how many of you played since they started Beta.  To be honest I am ashamed to even look up to you all at one point in the game or the other.

We all spent money, time and years, Yes years!  Building companies to the point they were ranking respected companies, getting to know new players, learning from one another.  Wow, sounds a bit like family.  And in every family, you have issues, disagreements, and some complete falling outs.  However; even though I'm losing money, high ranking toons, and bottle ships; I am taking so much more into this new UWO. 

I think I would much rather stick with the people who are loyal to their game like family than the ones that bail because they lost money or possessions.  At least those people I know would help rebuild our family back to its glory instead of bailing.  if your house burned down and all you had left is your family would you walk away?... or would you join together with family and actually rebuild?

And I know some of you will say well there is a difference, that is real life, this is a game.  However; before you say this.. think it through because your reaction is just as severe if you walk away from your DEDICATED GAME!  The betrayal you feel is just the same!  And I am pretty sure you liken this to be gutted by someone very close to you. *utter betrayal*.  Oh, btw I spent more than 5 years in this game and spent tons of money I did not need to spend but chose to.  If the game resets it resets.  It is a game, we move on if we want to we don't stomp our feet pout and call names like toddlers.  

I am old enough to know that money you put into a game is an investment of time and willingness to lose money you have chosen to give away for enjoyment in that game.  I have seen several games go away permanently after years of gameplay and paying subscription prices! many years of being loyal and paying a subscription every month!  These are things we do when we want this type of entertainment. I am 45 years old! I know many of my friends in game are even older!  Sometimes we feel like we are too old to start again. 

I'm not giving up on family or the game.

    Lets just be thankful the game didnt get shut down completely with OGP's exit.  Please dont hate on our new publisher.

    It looks like they are going to do whats needed to make the game a sucess.

    When the game first started the cash shop was resonably prices and had interesting items for convenience, lets hope we can bring that back.

    I am incredibly loyal to UWO.. that does not mean i want to rehash the last 5 years of my life in order to unlock the content I was about to explore!  c'mon!

    I Think they made a mistake yes, but make no mistake, if players who have played this game don't leave the game (And I for one am not.) I also know a few more that will be rebuilding. UWO did not start off the very first day with golden goose profits, the players did not start at high tiers with fancy ships.  It would be quite a nieve to think that a fresh relaunch of new content and old being brought back would not bring in more interest and fresh blood to build on a level playing ground working together with one another.  Is the point not that this was a dedicated player base that was betrayed they feel by the relaunch?  Upset hell I agree people should be I'm not saying I am not upset.  People get through things in life as they look at a circumstance they are going through and say is this a deal breaker? If it is, then I am sorry to hear that and you will be missed.  But make no mistake people will help one another to get through this.  And if it happens again it happens again.  If it fails well at least we pulled together in a time of crisis.  <3 to you all

    If the game runners aren't being loyal to the players, why would players stick around and be loyal to the game? There are a number of things that could've been done to make this game an even bigger success than it already was, but a reset to zero was not one of them.

    Your house fire analogy isn't really accurate, either. It's more like, if you worked diligently at a job to reach a certain level of success, only to suddenly find yourself booted back down to the mail room with a coupon for 15% off on a cafeteria snack, would you feel like continuing to work at that job, or would you find somewhere else to work where you were appreciated and valued? Or at the very least, go find someplace where it was worth your effort to work?

    Vets are justified to be upset, particularly due to the poor handling of this decision. The lack of official responses and discussion only exacerbate the problem.

    I think players should gather a fund together and buy this game back from Paypaya.  Seriously... why did not OGP even mention a thing?  I feel betrayed by OGP... not by Papaya.

    Goosio your analogy is accurate for your view my view is more like family I do not look at a game as a workhorse sorry.  Each one of us sees this game differently and if it is viewed as work I am sorry for that for anyone that does feel this is work.  I get your input on that and your feelings.  And yes they are justified in that case but again.  This does not change my opinion and I would not want to change anyone else's just state my thoughts.

    OGP betrayed us all by not answering tickets, by not giving any inclination that this was even coming, by pulling everything and putting on promotions for Astros that would not be refunded and you have to go through bank to try to get something filed as fraudulent purchase when you used to buy Astros on a daily basis or monthly basis.. banks laugh at you saying this does not show a fraud purchase.   Thing is all you can do is call it that because they took your money and did not even give you a week to get things in order. They did not give us answers for anything that is really bad but that's not papaya.  We have to give them (Papaya) the benefit of the doubt that this won't happen again.

    Yup, OGP ruined UWO because they made blunders on bad credits if i did hear correctly and was not able to keep hackers, gold sellers, etc in check. Worst yet, they kept those news from us till last second before they made announcement that UWO will transfer to Papaya and left us less than one week to clean up our mess ie transfer, reorganize inventory, etc.

    Oh, Batt did mention that it wasn't Coolwind's fault ,but that escaped me atm what did it happen that Coolwind had nothing to do with ?.

    Then I would submit to you that this is equivalent to coming home one day and finding your spouse ran off with all the money, furnishings, and even your kids, leaving you a half-eaten donut as compensation. You're certainly free to start over with a new relationship as you like, but it will never be the same family you knew and cared for, nor the same life you worked together to build previously... and oh yeah, your vehicle's been replaced by a rusty unicycle, and you need to reapply for all your licenses/passports again as well.

    For me, UWO was play and family, never work. But that family of mine is heartbroken over their losses, and who's to say they shouldn't be?

    OP you can stay loyal to Papaya Play, and in three years time it will sell you to another publisher who will copycat with a wipe.

    That kinda made me giggle, although I do not believe this was your intention. Yes, but in this instance, you have no way of knowing that I have worked myself and my children back from homelessness more than once none of which was our doing.  I cannot justify never trying on a new relationship and I don't enter into new relationships with rose-colored glasses.  Because bad things happen you cannot let one experience define you.

    My family and I play here and we are split across the world.  This new start comes with mixed emotions from us all.  When you cant be together in person this world was a way to come together even for a few hours.  Noone is telling you that you shouldn't be heartbroken or feel betrayed. No one is devalued on their feelings on this... It is betrayal no doubt! By OGP some players will not be back no doubt and no one will change the minds of those who feel this way.   I respect your decisions.  I will not be following the mass exodus.

    Hmm I think people have my comment all wrong My loyalties lye with my family and game m8s and UWO I been through Multiple companies too remember and this is the first wiped am I not correct? There is nothing saying I am not disappointed in this at all but the reactions of utter anger and stomping and acting like this is the end of the world I feel like I'm watching 2 toddlers fight over whos right on which toy should be tossed into the puddle first. (if you don't get this analogy then you probably don't realize how ridiculous it is to argue about any toy being tossed anywhere near the mudpuddle.)  The game will relaunch with our without us. How long it will stay depends on us or on new players.  Walking away shoots the game in the proverbial foot and putting a lame horse up before the race even begins.  I'm not willing to do that.  My investment of time is more precious to me than that and my family will continue to meet here until they are not able to anymore. GL to you all

    Look I love UWO and the community, and I respect that you will perservere.  What you may not be feeling, is .... well imagine you have a beatiful wife.. the love of your life.  She says one day.  We must start over, sorry.  She throws all that you own in the trash can and says nothing for a month.  Then, she says.. lets start over honey?  How will you feel?

    LOL well a bit strange as I am a woman but okay here we go.. Zim honestly, I started back from nothing more than once (Real Life) . More than once I had me, my kids and the clothes on our backs. Material things mean nothing to me.  Lives do.  And for me, this is a link between family and living with being separated.  I get your analogy and respect that some deal with things differently but I really hold no value in kitch or items.  7 years marriage slap in the face and how do you do with 2 babies on hip and nowhere to go teaches you a lot.  You ask how I would feel.  Having essentially lost all and the only thing I valued was my family we were slightly broken but not down we could prevail.(you asked about how I would feel so here it is) At first, my feelings were omg what am I going to do now, then I was mad because of the situation, then picked up and did what I needed to do in order to get the family stable as I could on my own.  The stages of grief are real for anything. Betrayal is real no matter what but if one person (or a company)  does that to you will everyone? NO.

    I'm sorry but we tried several games and as of yet there is not one that can compare to the feeling of closeness with family.  We sail together you physically are with one another in a fleet.  When your not able to be around a person IRL the connection with voice and sailing, battling, and adventuring gives so much back that cant get through some of these other games.  This is more than just a game to me its family.  It's our meeting place It's our family game night.. I am just glad someone picked it up to begin with.  When you are a world apart this game has made all the difference for more than 5 years now.  I won't give that up for anything. If it's meant to be they take it from us, we will have to adapt.  But to be honest, playing in UWO has done what we thought impossible.  Brought the family together a world apart like we were playing right in the same living room! Cant replace that with anything, not even a Barca! hehe

    I'm wondering who OP was in the game. I'm a vet player, I'm mad as hell right now, and I have already gone on record that I will NEVER spend another penny on the game. Clearly you don't understand how much work will be required to get the game back to any semblance of what it was. I'm not as young as I used to be, and don't know if I have the energy to do everything over again. I spent hours helping others in game on mamacat and as a firstmate, and all that was for nothing. You can be disappointed in me all you want, but the fact remains more folks think like me at this point than like you, and this is the end of this game for all intents and purposes. Yes I will log in at first, just to see how bad it is, and see what Papaya comes up with. I expect crappy booster charms or similar trash. As a PS, I'm guessing OP is Ziad, or one of his cronies.

    If you are referring to me ANGEL, no I am not Ziad and cronies no. I am a player in game that has been here for quite some time and even given that, many of you did not know I existed until I start talking in world chat and just random questions from time to time.  I don't seek out drama and I play the game.  That is what I do.  My family and I do play regularly.  Just because we don't live in the drama does not mean I am someone else.. Gotta love when people have an opinion on something they are always the alt of someone else or someone disliked by many.  No, I never talked on the FORUMS I rarely talked in world chat but I know you have and your many alts.  I also know so many of you from world chat.  I will not be bantered in here by you though just wish you well in not coming back or coming back.  And in game you again will not hear from me because we mind our own business and try to help people that want it.  Working in tandem with our company m8s to get things done. Thing is I have spent tons of money have lost many bottle ships outfits ect that I actually obtained myself. Also, the name is Khylah Angel, not OP  what you are getting OP I have no clue.

    OP means original poster, ,it is a common usage on forums, like this, and sorry to confuse you with him. I don't have any alts though, so you have me confused with someone else as well. I only played mamacat, will play a version of her again, maybe. You need to understand that a thread like this that seems to attack veteran players is going to get a little hostility. If that was not your intent, then I apologize.

    I agree Mamacat sorry for the miss ident on my part bad assumption.  I am one of those vets too I was not here since beta but I do have over 5 years invested if we would have lasted till January I would have been 6 years.

    I get every emotion on this trust me.  I cant sit here though and say oh I'm going to throw out everything just because we have to rebuild again.  No, been there, done that irl and It won't bother me to do it in a virtual world that brings my family closer.

    The thing here is, why bother if we can't trust them not to do this again? They have put forth 3 excuses so far, none of which hold water. No thank you, they get no more of my money. I'll try it again see what happens, but I have no confidence in Papaya Play at this point

    Honestly, mamacat... there is no assurance.. unless a company buys a UWO license and gives it to us forthright... as a priority.   Right now,  our only assurance is that a true fan of the game wins a lottery and is willing to take on the responsiblility of immortalizing the game.

    Zim when I first started I was Dutch, with defections (shipbuiding) and starting again I had been near every nation.  And I know your dutch too but I have a question, I thought you had your own company in Amsterdam.  Before the shut down I could have sworn I saw you in a different company :(

    Shelley as far as the game host, I am disappointed in OGP and giving papaya a chance as well. we lost a lot coming over here but we still have the game.  what we do with it is our choices altogether.

    I was DutchCourage from the start, and it whent through a soap opera one day and was dying the next.  I got promoted to leader in an act of futility on the part of the old school members.  Rather than let it die, I created ZimsZeros1,2,3,4, and 5 companies.  From them I recruited the most active Dutch players into Dutch Courage.  The remainder and those with no interest went into one ZimsZeros company and the rest disbanded when I left.  I left for 2 years due to my wife finding out I had a secret bank account that I was filtering $200 per month into to support my gaming.  On top of that she had numerous surgeries and my work became more demanding of my hours.  I took me 2 years to return, but return I have.
