You know, I have tried several times unsuccessfully to edit the name of this post I am not getting anywhere. So to those of you complaining about my Disappointment again, I tell you " I am not disappointed in even one of you for your feelings it is the REACTIONS that are really vulgar and not necessary. Older players and I am a veteran of this game as well.. but I did not come in here with guns blazing and gob yappin and I won't. Its unnecessary and those of you that have said some pretty crappy things to me in here are entitled to your opinion, however, to be hateful in here because you disagree is childish and shows very little whit, to be honest.
Disappointed in Vet players as well... Those that are not in support of the wipe! What are you thinking? Seriously can that time and money be worth so much to you, than the betterment of the server? See the game was dying i had been telling ya'll that for long time, but peeps told me to hush i was wrong, but everyday seville was getting more and more empty. FL's were barren, and company's were consolidating or staying with low active numbers. So if you were able to keep ur stuff and keep that server in 6 months or so it would have been a single player mmo.... if that's possible. At least with this there's a chance the game will last some years to come, whereas no chance along the path it was on. So be being mad about your char and levels is EXTREMELY selfish and u need to do some soul searching. I was one of the BETA players and yes i lost hundreds of Bills worth of ships and stuff and 3x teir4 chars. I don't miss any of it cause all that stuff and i was soooooo bored. Now i'll be broke but will have loads of excitement and stuff to do, EVEN if it's just rebuilding the world for a handful of people for a while. I'd suggest everyone stop crying and get just ready for the 18th. and lets.....
See you can't say all are like that. By doing that you are placing all of us in a category. I admit I was not happy about all that was lost and all the skills I built up is gone but it can be done again. But damn refining sewing again is gonna be long and fun again all at the same time
my 3 hardest skills to regrind will be Steering RR14, Rowing RR12, and plunder RR13. Rest of the skills usually have an easy grind. I did the refined crafting it wasn't too bad.
I did the refine sewing and even got the tailor job and when I hit 15 again I got the meister title just some of the books I had are hard to get and that is what kills me the most
@khylah - you don't have an effing clue what its going to take to rebuild GAMA. I do. I played during the original buildup. It will take months if not years to get GAMA back to where it was, assuming the population holds out. Why? Let's go over this.
1. Every nation will have to complete a sequence of IQ's to unlock several rounds of port permits. This includes East and West South America, SEA, EA, Panama and Suez Canals. This won't be the one and done you had to do for pretty much every IQ port permit. Each set of these took days if not weeks of dedicated effort to complete. Some of the smaller nations in game I don't think could physically do it again without multiboxing.
2. SB grind. Especially with no ready source of money outside of Syracuse dungeon which itself will be gimped as who is going to buy ESBT at the start? R20 SBers will be able to milk the server dry once they get there.
3. Redoing all the Oxford theses. Another time sink.
4. Trade and crafts grind, ESPECIALLY Alchemy.
5. Management grind again for those who want to Nanban or use steamships
The above is just to get a functioning economy going again, leaving out going for maritime or adventure skill grinds (oh hi steering, since you got changed with Industrial Revolution it will take MONTHS to regrind just sailing). It may be a bit faster than previous due to aide ships and spice price changes compared to before, but you are still looking at months to get the economy going again. So for the veteran players, Academy, ESF and BC will be pointless and probably will not come back before mid-2018 at the earliest (Netmarble took almost a year to launch ESF on GAMA originally), and everyone is back at square one for adventure, so all the endgame content they are touting as being updated, is not going to be accessible to ANYONE in the short or even medium term. You launched into a game that was fully developed and are now crapping on those that made it easier for you to start and be in the background the way you wanted. Many of whom aren't even here anymore to listen to you crap on their efforts back then.
I was a Beta play, started May 2010. And I agree with khylah, it is very disappointing to see how so many of you who claim to care are attacking before we even know what will truly be the result of this wipe. I for one will keep playing for the same reason I have been here 7.5yrs I love this game. I have made many friends in it.
I doubt very seriously you put the time and money into this game that many of us did. I have probably put more into this game than you have ever had in your bank account at most points in time in your life. You are probably one of the whiny little freeloaders that has been crying for a server wipe for years while the rest of us carried it. Well, since the cash players are not putting money into the game now, I suggest you break open your piggy bank to keep the game going little girl.
The other servers have not been wiped, they receive the same updates; your whole data corruption argument is garbage, if it caused a problem you could always load a fresh copy then, effectively doing the wipe then *if* the data became corrupted. These accounts have transferred before intact, so are you implying that papaya is less adept than ogp was to transfer game data? or less adept than netmarble was? I've researched the vertigo staff, they are capable, so its something else.
You strike me as a gloating little brat hiding behind a new screen name with zero respect for the time and money spent by others on this game. Since you have no respect for us, I will show no respect for you. Don't bother to reply; it is doubtful that I will read it.
wait...what do you mean it's papaya choice? Piracy will be nerfed in the beginning? Please elaborate, I planned to have a max cannoneer by day 7 and pirate by the end of the first week...Tucek
Where are you getting ur info as to everyone starting all over from scratch?? I've been in UWO for over 7 yrs now myself & gone thru 4 or 5 different Server Changes & when our Game returned again, we picked up right where we left off when the Server was changed. Until I hear different from Official Sources, I'll continue to expect it to be as it happened in previous Changes.
@pietherat appreciate that you had done it all and was bored, but some of us had done some of it, and were looking to do some more. grats on your completion, but your view seems a bit self centered.
I waited to come back in here and reply to any of this until I saw what happened in the game. Here is what happened.
The Very first day we were working through school. People were back in the community chatting with one another like it was a reunion. Griping yes some were and some will always gripe. Thing is we were all on a common goal. Get through school and find our old company m8s. Once we got through school we worked together to get things back on track. Oxford became a priority, the IQs were then next. (money being spent on cash shop) FOCUSED GOALS were being formed. We knew what was ahead was not easy but it had to be done. Getting through things we still have a long way to go Development of Ternate and Ambon are in dire need
The race to get to spice islands was a bit quick if you ask me.. Development of surrounding areas should have been made first because now it's going to take a bit longer to develop and trade the items required to get that focus made.
Thing is, those of us that worked their way through the game (without buying EA goods to boost himself) know the struggle to get the community involved in any development.
The "someone else will develop it" attitude has been far too long in the game.
Those ranting in here about my knowledge of the game did you know I made it a point every day to go down to develop the national colony? No, doubt that you were too busy judging me for trying to pull people together. Now, there is much work to do.. people need to still get together and regardless of your nationality get down there and get things moving.
I think pirates are important part of the game, however; too many were too focused already on getting back in and fighting at low levels, too many were focused on getting to 60 with very little skill levels are great don't get me wrong.. but when the skill is not there, moot point to be lvl 60 with nothing to show for it. It would have been better to work with the community to get back the precious trade routes you used to pillage.
Point is, everyone pirate, traders, adventurers need to work together for a common goal here. Without the adventurers and traders, pirates wouldn't have targets worth targeting.
I just wanted to say to the OP you started with a good post here. Nobody is entitled to anything just because you pay for it. Every MMO I ever played has a stipulation that any money you spend on any shop items are non-refundable and they can remove them at any time for any reason. Granted I haven't read every TOS for every online game but that's pretty much the standard for every game I have played. You enjoyed the items when you bought them and you got to enjoy them for a certain amount of time and that is all you're entitled to. Does it suck that we lost so much? Of course it does. But honestly most of us had everything we wanted anyway, maybe the journey the second time can be just as fun?
