Wow, a lot of feedback! I took a break from the forum, and I've mostly just been checking in to read the new threads. Apologies, for the delayed reply.
All are welcome. PieRat, if you are interested in assisting with teaching new recruits, I could make you a deputy. We will be in Seville, and there will be pirates. Also, I don't mind guiding new players, and I was probably a little too demanding to require members to Ottoman first month. I think 2 months sounds more reasonable.
It might be best for everyone to start as Spanish. Also Pie, I heard you must unlock Southeast Asia before you defect to Ottoman. (As they don't have a quest for that)
We will have to coordinate some mocks and such, I posted another thread about this. I don't want hate between BH and pirates. Competition is fine, but we should maintain a certain level of respect for each other.
I like piracy! I don't plan on pirating, but I do plan on leveling up all of my maritime, Rowing and battle skills, to give any would-be pirate a good, hefty dose of whoop-ass if they come near me.
But I like piracy for the economic stimulation it creates. Only the occasional well-equipped and brave trader will venture out to open, hostile waters... and that's why it was considered a dangerous journey that paid out small fortunes..
If everyone and their brother can sail 10,000 miles and back, without so much as breaking a sweat, and then earn tens of millions in the process, you have a very broken game on your hands.
Sailing that far should never be easy and should never go without major risks.
I think people have a false assumption about this game, which is also why I feel it never caught on as much as other MMOs. They think in MMO terms and look for some kind of end-game content, implying that they will somehow, reach a point in the game that the game no longer provides them with a challenge in its regular content.
Finding players Deep Sea can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Follow the trade routes, and be fast enough to do a 180 degree turn and still catch them.. That's s how I prefer to pirate, but when you sail for an hour and find between 0-2 fleets it can get boring.. Hopefully the new server is gonna be packed!
I am writing to apply for the vacancy advertised in the above forum post. I am enclosing a completed UWO application, my previous levels, my UWO resume, and in game references.
The opportunity presented in this listing is very interesting, and I believe that my strong UWO experience and education will make me a very competitive candidate for this position.
The key strengths that I possess for success in this position include:
• Over 6 years UWO experience 77/85/68
• good team player
• provide exceptional contributions service for all company members
With a degree in BS. I also have experience in learning and excelling at new skills as needed.
Please see my resume for additional information on my experience.
Yours sincerely

JOKING ASIDE - PUT ME ON YOUR WAITING LIST AS I AM SURE YOU WILL HAVE A FULL HOUSE.
If winning is not important...then why keep score?
I have always been English in the game and the thought of switching pains my loyalty, but going Otto almost might be worth it. It seem that 60% of the server is Spanish with 30% English. This hurts since I try to stay orange. And Spain is always warring with me which prohibits me from entering their ports anywhere (and they own a lot). Also prevents me from entering seville to buy/sell stuff.
About the pirates port-camping, I read a "guide" by infamous Nellemus, and he said that for each ship he sunk he got about 250 noto, and after 2 days of sailing without pirating, noto starts to go down, and so to keep up noto and gain noto he had to make each kill count by killing more than sailing. I haven't pirated yet but am thinking about it in the future. It does make sense that a pirate wouuldn't want to sail around without killing for days if he expects to keep and gain noto. amiright?
You do lose noto while sailing, but depending on how many you catch it is not that big a deal. Noto does not actually DO anything. Port camping is boring, i have always sailed looking for ships to connect with instead.
correction noto don't do much unless your using pirate equipment then its like fame as a requirement when combined with the filibuster job n pirate title noto above 15k (iirc) will stop you using banks in nations you are on warning with (may be mistaken on that one its been a few years) noto under 20k don't really drop all that fast but dose drop with days sailed
when ya pushing for 100k noto ya really gotta watch that drop it happened fast
Oh yeah, forgot about the pirate equipment needing noto. Unfortunately by the time you have enough noto to use most of it, you have grown past it. But some of it is decent. The filibuster job needs more than 10k to get iirc and will prevent noto lose under 3000. The cranio espada title prevents noto from dropping below 10k, but will prevent you from using banks occasionally (I believe it's if you have pirated someone within a certain period of time). It would be awesome if the spoils that are turned in could get better items or at least items that are not pirate specific. The items ate generally unsellable since only pirates can use them and pirates all get their own. In gama I had over 1000 unopened blood-soaked chests. They should throw some other equipment or items in there. How about a decent cannon or FS part.
