I think there's a very simple way to solve the deck battle and item plunder issues.
Those situations should be allowed to happen in lawless waters only. Of course, we'll have to deal with whatever happens, but personally I think that's the best option.
most of my post i have been to try and see the silver lining on a reset/wipe. someone says this i show a different view point another person says this i show them another way to look at it. sure a wipe sucks i played this game over 4 years had lots of ships and items i paid good money for. but to see all the people still complaining about it. will you please just stop nothing you say will effect what happened. if you played this game because you had the fastest ship and 300000000 BILLION in cheques and sat on your ass in seville all day doing nothing but chatting then guess what you can still do that without the 300000000 BILLION or fastest ship. but if you played this game because you enjoyed it you loved finding new things or helping others then WOOHOOO jackpot on the wipe. it means that you get to help more new players learn and discover new stuff for the first time. do things that haven't been done on this server in 7 years. everyone and anyone who enjoyed playing this game should be excited. its a new day....
We just have to trust it wont need a wipe again. I know I am looking forward to a fresh start. Yes I lost a lot I worked hard for and I did it without buying stuff with Astros I did it the old fashion way. I worked for it and will work for it again
@crazyhunter2003: Well, since there is no other game like UWO (and I've only ever seen one with the economy and play style to rival it, which was the old TradeWars) and this is the first time UWO was wiped, I cannot see how your response has any grounds in reality. Just saying....

@crazyhunter2003: I do not thing wipes are good, and that they should be done again. That is not at all what I said. I just pointed out that "wipe is NEVER good for a game like UWO" is an unsubstantiated claim.
Plus, the word "Never" is like the words "Impossible" or "Always". They are absolutes, and absolutes are not usually words that should be used in an argument, because they leave no room for extenuating circumstances.

@crazyhunter2003: I will mark your words. BUT, what gives you the idea that they will? Do you have some inside knowledge that the rest of us lack? Have they wiped other games more than once? Do you have any concrete suspicion that lends credence to the thought that they would even consider wiping again?
If not, then where is your worry coming from?

From what I have seen, and who I've talked to, this wipe has driven the majority of the spenders out of the game. Those that are lurking the forums, like myself, are simply waiting to watch things implode as we are pretty jaded by the wipe.
Of the spenders that are left in the game: they won't spend a penny for the first month or so. After getting hit with a wipe from OGP to here, they are very leery of this company.
The people who didn't spend will continue to not to spend. This is the reason that NetMarble dropped the game, the same reason OGP dropped the game, and the same reason that Papaya will shutter the game for good.
TLDR: There aren't enough people putting money into the game to keep it running. It will close in a few months, 6 months at max.
I can see starting over being fun almost, getting to relive all the time and effort that went into the "first round". All the struggle it took to get to where you were could be eliminated now that you know how things work. Rebuilding will be a pain, but to be honest things were getting pretty stale. Now you have everything to do, instead of another boring trade run or grind session. OGP didn't drop the game, they straight up died off and papaya play swooped in and scooped up uwo. Weather thats good or bad time will tell. I don't think doomsday is coming for UWO yet.
- Majority of the old spenders will probably not spend.
- There will be new spenders.
- In order to make things more interesting for the spenders, there will be, once again, a minority of F2P players complaining that this is once again a P2W game.
- Rinse and repeat.
Already seen it happen on NM, and on OGP. I don't think it'll ever change. Because step three up there is a tight balance. If everyone can get everything with in game cash, what's the incentive to pay real money for something you can get in game cash? If there is something you can't get in game from cash shop that people really want, then a minority of loud F2P players will once again complain.
This caused me to remember when someone posted about take look at it since wipe. Well, she's technically half right ,but that kumbayah did not happen lol.
Oh, I noticed many of them aren't playing UWO anymore. :(
This was kinda a depressing thread to re-read, a lot of those people are gone, even some of the gung ho let's burn the server resetters gave up. Go figure.
I'm actually still around, it was the gloom and hard work and sweat we predicted but we pulled it through and the world is kinda developed now. But mamacat and a lot of others have left for the most part.
The game is limping now, the hundreds of new players didn't come, a few did and we're happy to have them but not nearly enough to replace those that left. All those pierats with their big wallets that pierat promised us never showed up, to the point they had to give even more back to the pirates who still didn't come back. Damn you Pierat :P
If enough people still spend this game could last another few years in limp mode, it can't really be that expensive to run ...or these latest changes to uwc ticket pricing and uwc spending bonus could be the same thing ogp did before they shut down ....grab what money you can before you shut her down. I don't think it's that but ogp did pull it right at the end with astro sales with astro bonuses and the best ticket they ever released with the best ships and best odds for winning ships ...so i get scared when i see someone else doing it i guess.
For me, i really don't care who's hosting the game. I play because i love the game period. Sure this host has made some poor decisions but i deal with those events and trials and still get to do my own thing. I wouldn't quit just because the host is different however... I wouldn't spend anymore and just play for free if they ever did another reset without saving the characters. It just takes to long to get to any good position again. Even though here, i'm much better off 1 year in with gear and ships than 1 year on OGP, my skill are still suffering from where i was back then. People are older now and just can't put the time commitment to make the game worthwhile to play again even with all the buffs. But for now i'll continue to play and spend on PP for now. My only issue is that i wish i could have more time online to play! lol
