Seems OGP is getting the blame for the server wipe that may wipe the game off the web.
My guess is that Papaya wanted to open up UWO with a spectacular beginning so they arranged to bring out Age of Reason 7 to 9 months earlier then we would have seen it with OGP - we still had 2 more chapters of Industrial Age to go through.
But Papaya did need the users who had played long enough to appreciate the rushed advance of patches. After all, this isn't the first time OGP gave a game over to Papaya - La Tale getting the same wipe, which makes it appear it's Papaya that insists on starting out fresh.
My guess is it made more sense for Papaya to transfer UWO to their servers directly from Koei instead of OGP because OGP didn't have the missing patches or Age of Reason to transfer.
Unfortunately for long time players, Papaya probably didn't understand what makes players so loyal to a very old game and maybe they didn't realize how so many who start the game won't develop that level of devotion.
This may not end well, but I hope Papaya has a plan to bring in enough new players to offset the certain loss of half of them within the 1st month of play. If they do, and enough of the past players stick around, UWO can survive and that's a good thing - just not so good for me.
