Ill entertain your request from a unbiased opinion. Dont just offer 1 ship but offer a ticket that allows each player to chose his/her preferance. A battle ship A adventure ship A trade ship
What these ships are, i have no idea. Would need players suggestions. But having a top tier ship on a new server would be extremely OP even if you cant mod it yet.
now with ur suggestion even a modded ship of random type based on the 3 job sets u could end up with a ship that u won't be able to use till ur really far along in lvl, and unable to mod till an r20 SB is able to mod it for you,
so u could end up with say a CAV for a battle , large fu for trade and CLS for adv
it would be very long time before anyone could use them or mod them
So remove any reason at all to finish the shools and use those ships? i think u underestimate the school ships.. Just like kids these days you have no idea how to have fun with just the dirt and sticks :D
I finished schools well before they gave ships like they do now. So i dont have a clue on those, but i was just giving frozenruby 3 ships they could give..
the ships from first 2 level schools kinda suck, but when u finish the advanced courses u get Graduation Polacca it makes an ok trade ship, the Graduation Samburk <--- now this ship is fast especially if u throw a mod or so on it, and r10 is good enuff to mod these lower level ships if not lower. and then Graduation Frigate. I was grinding in the carribean in one of these. levels are around 20ish but if u complete the schools in the proper jobs u'll have enuff levels for the ships. Also the chests from schools will provide some useful items.
@RangerzFan: There is nothing i can say to absorb any of your loss. I am in a similar boat. I can tell you my plans. First, my wife is going through yet another surgery. Second, I found out she has secretly spent about 50k in credit cards. This is going so severe I dont even know if i can recover. I will need to work 50 hours a week and maybe even need a second job on top. What I can assure you is that we are players. Even if we do not hit the top like before.. and even if we have been screwed of time of our lives... I will help you any way i can any time i can. I suggest restarting... for the love of the game. If anything let us put our focus on siezing this game. Lets buy it as a group or as one. Thats my focus now... but I will continue playing even if i wont spend a dime on Papay'as belated money shop.
I am decided to join the game again and play. But this is the last time i will invest time and maybe some cash in it.
If UWO fall down again i m done with it.There is no point to invest in him if is not gonna last.
And this is not about the money or the time lost in the game..but how many times can you take one game from the beginning and start all over again and again?
So i hope this time things will get better if Papaya really want this and put some efforts in it.
Hey, Zim! Too bad we do not have our Comp chat for this, but so be it. That is sad to hear about what you are going though. Hope it works out quickly for you. As far as my decision on continuing this game, I had contact with another high ranking Dutch player who helped me considerably as I started into the higher levels who is returning and spelled out one of my biggest issues going forward and that is of time. The time involved for early player grinding is not something I have as I used to. The wipe and reset to me is really about the time more than the things (except for the ship issue and my green cake hat, long summer robe, and Liza's gear). Over the last year I had started three other toons. I was able to grind one really well, but realized with the others that I just can't focus anymore on a new toon grind like I used to. My OGP latter stage play got to the point I would be afk most of the time. That cannot be done with new toons and get anywhere in a reset world. Regardless, my play time is seriously less now and the longer I am away from the game the more I realize I really do not like the idea of all the time it will take to get everything to the point I would even enjoy it again. I would have liked the Founders Awards to have also included a stack of 999 RiBs and 999 Land redevelopment permits and alot more AVRs. hahaha Someone above asks if the time spent originally grinding was enjoyable? Actually, no, not all of it was enjoyable but certain tasks still had to be done. It was the prize that was the target and enjoyed, not the time spent grinding. Prizes like fully charted seas, a completely ranked private island, max nanban, a wonderful comp colony. and being part of helping cause the English territory ports to finally fall were the enjoyable part, not the time spent grinding. I am not the oldest person playing UWO, but I am feeling my 50 years more now than I did even 3 years ago.I still have several days to decide, though, which direction to take.
Wow I'm so sorry you're going through this like I can only imagine I'm so sorry God bless you and your family no matter how bad it gets just know you will get through it. In regards to the game we dont need YOUR money as long as you come and provide your help, kindness, ideas, innovations and ideas that will help UWO your presence will attract more players to the game that will pay money. It will take longer to grind but who cares that not what makes you who you are...
Zim is still Zim with or without levels money ships and items.
You just focus on your family at this point ok and maybe pop in occasionally when you can good luck and to your wife get well soon and put ALL your credit cards in the shredder please lol
One of the big problem with OGP was Coolwind, a player GM. I can only imagine how screwed up a private server would be. nanban selling for 100k each, 1 run bored-o = 30 po's all gear 100 atk/100 def.
yea i will play for papaya but i actually would uninstall if it was a private server, that i will not tolerate. Having some of ya'll players as GM would literally be a death sentence.
First time around a lot of the grinds were fun - I guess because I was always moving onto something new. I'm worried I'll just get into a mindless grind trying to get back to where I was. There's no fun in that.
I almost gave up the game in the first few weeks when I started it (14 months ago). I bet few people remember how long it takes to sail from London to Dan Helder in a Barca! Or struggle up to Edinburgh against a headwind! And I recall it used to take me the best part of 3 hours to sail one-way London-India in a small transport.
I'm going to give the re-start a go - just 'cos I love the game so much. But I'm unsure I've got the stamina and commitment to go through it all again.
One thing I know for sure - I won't be spending any real money until I'm confident it won't be wasted.
Once you have the knowledge of the game everything takes much much much less time.
You will learn about land transport routes that cut treks in half or using goods that are items rather than cargo to carry way more and make money or liners or getting a tow or one really cool method the Pegasus wing express using two alts... lol
Listen the game is tough the first go but once you master the game trust me it wont be that bad also your friends and comp members will help. Veterans wont let you fail. Besides its a challenge those are fun and even more fun people are doing it too.
Following emails from some friends I have decided to be back at relaunch. The community (my company and friends) soon after starting to play UWO became the most important to me in the game. I will be there to re-develop our company and do my share in developing France and the UWO world.
I will be returning to the game the player base is going to need people who are willing to rebuild and help push the game into the right direction and help the new players get up to speed on the game mechanics.
Hi Caddy, gosh I dont know, I did do the transfer of my account, but I think its complete bullshit what theyve done. What could they possibly give us in perks to make up for all this, or do they even care? Ill never see my Surprise again...... all I have is my screen shots. Ill come back to see whats so dramatically improved THEY HAD TO WIPE ALL MY SHIPS !!!!
I will return IGN Vindictive, only to see all the old friends I am missing so much atm.
But if they don't return then probably won`t stay around very long, its a great game but without old freinds to share it with, then it`s just another game. Who knows how long Papaya will last.....is a great concern.
Hello. I will logon to giveaway whatever shit i will receive from this senseless reset. Only reason to reset is to make all players alike old and new to try to buy as many EXP/FAME/Speed/Prof boosts as possible as they wont be available in game for ducats, just cash. So Farewell to all and thanks for the fun.
It would be sad if you quit, Caddy. You gave the community lots of shipbuilding advice and were always polite and personable. I ended up taking up the grind myself after reading your guides. I hope you stick around, but I wouldn't fault anyone for throwing in the towel right about now.
I kinda agree RUSH, whereas plundering items is tempting, I am not sure it is worth all that regrind and time from family, friends and punaxii. This isn't like any other game you can just wipe away and as people get mad new players will replace them. This game never sold well in America even on Super NES. We kinda are like the weird kids that got into them weird TROMA horror flicks and kept it alive by making it a cult classic, a niche genre, a geekfest. Saying that, we also have to realize that without us it goes away most likely. Caddy and Clem, I spent $1500 in 6 years, comes to $5 a week.I can live with it, my big issue is all the work to redo. I cannot really imagine how you big spenders feel. Do you realize I was so into this game, I went two years without getting laid because I stopped going out? And I am not even that ugly. I am really undecided on this, another 7 years and I am almost 60 years old, only to restart again? I started in my mid 40s
Sorry I went in a wrong direction there, I don't know. I really cannot say for sure what I will do, I had went on my longest hiatus of 4 months away when I came back the OGP launcher didn't work. A part of me said relief, but another part of me had to check the OGP forums which brought me here. Another part of me, the arrogant part said haha I leave for four months and they shut it down without my 20 toons playing. The game was very stale the way it ended up, the more patches they made the more complex it became and were those patches really necessary? Flamethrowers that did very little damage. Gatling guns also, pretty worthless. Did we really need a northeast and northwest passage that nobody ever uses? All these patches require more server space which costs more money to operate the game which requires more player investment. I just don't think the developers have a grasp of reality as to what the market for this type of game is in 2017 with so much competition out there. The fan base plays for nostalgia that we played the game back in the 90s and we are dying off. This game has many challenges, I do believe the servers will be much cheaper to operate in Texas than Los Angeles, just from a real estate perspective so smart move there.
I agree also RUSH I have never seen TWO games move from one host to another host. That is quite suspect. Maybe we underestimated the amount of damage Saul/Coolwind had done to the reputation of the OGP name. I can assure you I did not. He banned a maestro caster/cook/collector alt all maxed just because I was bored one day and running back and forth through his toon that always stood in London. I tried everyday for months to log him in thinking it must have been temporary I hadnt really broken any rules. He let me know right there it was not my game, it was his game and he can do whatever he wants. So when I hear people complain of him, trust me, I know, that dude was the worst thing that ever happened to this game. A fucking idiot that took for granted the small size of the fanbase to this genre. The damn game was on Steam free and only bringing in a 100 players at a time. You cannot get more exposure than Steam.
For me personally, the game changed my life. I was retarded about the world before I played this game, now anything that happens in the world I know that location, and the nations surrounding that location. Well worth the money I spent for that education. (granted I didn't spend anywhere near the amount you guys did) I can guarantee you I have 10000 hours in though
I got a job with people in their 20s-30s I tried to recruit to the game earlier this year. 3 avid, daily gamers. You know what? They logged in, played for a few hours and came back to work and laughed at me. Young people that grew up with great flashy graphics just do not see it what we see. so...
The real question is: As the gatekeepers of this game are we willing to keep it going?
I really do believe it is up to us, so I am not opposed to you guys making some demands, if I could keep one job I would like to keep my r20 shipbuilding as I do not believe everything is already gone either, and I do believe the majority that like this wipe invested very little in the last server other than time so that will not keep it afloat
I want to give this game a try and see it from the beginning, but I have a Steam Account and right now they have only said more information is coming soon about how to transfer that account to PP. I am hoping they allow us to transfer over as I want to be able to keep my character/account, plus the time I spent on the game would like to see the Founders Rewards (whatever that ends up being).
