I hope they market it as a new game, or new server so new members will feel like they will be on a fair playing field, I know when I try to look for new games, I always focus on newer ones so I am not shadowed over by others that are already to strong.
just my opinion. I really hope we get a decent player base. vets or new, doesn't matter now, we just need numbers
I am afraid that even massive advertising to bring in new players wouldnt be enough. IF the server is really wiped as announced then Papaya has shot themselves in the foot and killed the game before it relaunched. Who in a sane mind would ever pay any real money again if all invested money and time over many years in the past are just discarded. The trinket we will get will be very very far from compensation. The word will spread that people have lost years of developing their characters and also real money they have put into it. Papaya is destroying its trust in the player base as regards time and money that was put into this great game. Thus I doubt that many paying players will come and join and thus Papaya soon enough lose interesting in hosting this game.
As for many of the prey hungry pirates who are posting their excitement for a restart here I have the impression that they fail to understand a very basic truth: you never have a thriving population of predators if their isnt enough prey. This is very sad because there are easily over a dozen of games where you can PvP all day and night to one game where you have such a vast variety of goods and items that can be crafted.
People are worried about losing items and valuables to pirates. How about don't sail with valuables or get a blue flag if you have to sail with valuables. There are ways to make losses not so bad. They even have such things as "player tributes" in the game that keeps you from getting boarded by pirates. Pirates are needed in the game for checks and balances. Item plunder from players is needed to make it worth a pirates time to...well pirate. They have to make money too. Just like traders and adventurers need to make money. Except a pirates life is harder because so many people are hunting them. Some people like that challenge and thrill. Not I though. This toon will be a Adv. But I do miss the fact that when I saw a pirate in the waters I would get kind of nervous especially when I had something of importance in my inventory. The nerf took that excitement/ thrill away from me. I look forward to it making a comeback. Deep down if everyone admits it. When you had Improved hold as a skill on your ship doing a nanban run after the nerf. Pirates didn't worry you did they? They were like a gnat buzzing around when they attacked you right? No excitement, no worries. That to me made a boring nanban run. Makes it more of a chore than an adventure.
Untill the game relaunces we don t know what is gonna be. Maybe some things won t be the same If they will make some changes. Maybe the pirates won t have any pray for months. Maybe no new player will come . Alot of unknown. So we have to wait a bit longer to see what is gonna be. Everyone makes prepare and planning and maybe when the game start all the planning could be wrong.
Yep....player tribs take half your ducats not your items. Better to lose 500k ducats when sailing with 1 mil than to lose a memorial album/ rare item from being plundered.
Um.... You haven't seen advertising by Papaya? WOW!!! <---Sarcasm
THE GAME IS STILL ALMOST 2 WEEKS FROM LAUNCH!
OFC they would not advertise it yet. This isn't the newest i-crap on the market, why would they waste money advertising right now. Wait until after the game re-launches.

@noobness Tbh I wouldnt miss pirates if there werent any. I know they need to make money as does anybody else. I would give them some free tuition on trading and crafting as i did free for many many newbies over the years :) However, I was only excited about pirates as long as I was a newbie. After a few months of playing I was always having a stack of fine tributes in my inventory - I crafted them myself and passed them on free to my company mates. Also I had learned to avoid pirates so I didnt need to use my tributes on them so often. I just dont like non-consentual PvP. Also I dont understand what fun there is in looting people who are ill prepared for battle. To me a pirate is like a schoolkind feeling strong after bullying kids that are a few years younger. Much different if people enjoying PvP show their prowess in ESF or battle campaigns. That I can respect. That is just my view and opinion on the matter of piracy.
I really don t understand why everyone is so scared about these pirates.. Piracy is part of the game, there are alot of ways to deal with them,so what s the problem? They are some kind of gods in the game? Wtf? They cant be sunk? Haha! Is there a rule somwhere saying that they will won every time? Think again. They cant to catch you? No. They can become the hunted ones np.
You need to go back to the old days, where you hired protection from pirates, so a party of 4 traders would all wanna do spice runs. Netting each roughly 30-50m so they each gave the hired muscle 15-20% for his protection. Easy enough to do again. The hired muscle made 18-40m just just going along for the trip.
30 got damn that's crazy even at my peak auctioning I never had that many lol
But even with 30 alts of founding rewards it's not enough to cause inflation there's simply too much stuff to spend money on and rebuild the world and not everyone will have that much especially since nobody will be able to nanban or spice trade right off the back.
If Papaya push the game advertising hard push to their other community of other gamers maybe offer incentives to them if they try uwo or spend money on uwo and advertise this game as the only one of its kind which is true BTW it will get new people. Put on uwo on Twitter IG FB. FIX THE LONG BORING SCHOOL MECHANIC this alone will retain a ton of players. It's possible just have to be smart about it.
haha you will have 3b and nothing to spend it on for ages. nor will you be able to utilize that amount of money early on since there will be no goods to buy and no goods from cities even close to that amount. you can help the community and invest it though, that is what you could do, but probably won't.
unless new players buy items and you offer them 100m cheques for those high class items and wait till the game evolves enough to where you can then sell them for a profit, your just like the rest of us haha.
not even POs to buy to boost crafting skills to take that advantage..
a sad world when you have 3B and nothing to buy with it :(
Like i said before...i try not to make any planning before the game starts....it is possible that everyone s planning will be for nothing when UWO comes alive again ;)
So don t think about how you will spend the money or on what.Don t bother to create a playing map for when you join the game again...you may be forced to throw it away and make another one.
@Idsadar I understand your POV but we have 2 more weeks of no game, I wanted to be prepared to get the best jump if possible on the start. if they change it so much that my plan will not work then I will remake a plan, but if that's the case then no info on the internet will be available to make such a plan due to the changes created, so we will all be flying blind.
what if they made all waters hostile.. what if they made all waters safe till a certain development... what if they already set ports to max development..
all things considered I want to have a plan in place for my main character regardless if we can have alts or not so I can follow my own guide and not be ill prepared. :)
I don t know you...but i don t think you are a new player.So...whatever it will be you will manage to get a good start.Don t worry so much and don t make too much planning..maybe in couple of weeks UWO will be shut down for good :))
Or maybe not.Maybe this time we will have the privilege to play untill we die of old age :)
We don t know yet.So chill out and wait for the start ;)
If Papaya Play wants new players, they and all of us are going to have to get the word out. Out of all the games on this list, if you’re looking for the most robust, polished, complex, and focused high-seas experience in an MMO, then Uncharted Waters Online is the game for you without a doubt. It doesn’t have the flashy visuals or additional features of some other games on this list, but it has the most intricate and deep naval options out of them all. Many fans of the game compare it to taking the popular EVE Online and putting everyone on the sea instead of in space, and that’s pretty close to what you’ve got here.
Gameplay is generally split into three different buckets: Trade, Adventure, and Maritime. Trading encompasses everything from crafting, to shipping resources, establishing trade routes, and what seems like an endless number of other possibilities. Adventuring covers your standard questing stuff, with a sea-themed flavor such as treasure hunting, finding artifacts, and finding new areas. Maritime gameplay offers a lot of customization for making your ships unique. Uncharted Waters is dated, rough around the edges, and has another steep learning curve, but it makes up for it. There’s ton of depth here and a super friendly community, so if you want to be a pirate or ship captain and you’re looking for a game that caters to that exact type of theme, then this is easily the game for you.
I really think that beginners need to receive more, almost instant, rewards and recognition, for darn near anything they accomplish in trade, adventure, or maritime at the beginning of the game. Maybe even a Papaya Play online coach should be assigned to a new player, so that they get their questions answered quickly and easily before too much frustration sets in.
Well...that s what i keep saying for some time. If Papaya want to bring new players in the game they shoud focus on advertising a bit more.
UWO is hard to find even if you search for a game like this.
There are not enough advertises on this game on the internet,a very limited number of pepole know about him and is hard for someone who want to play a game like this to find UWO.
The people who allready play this game can help and bring some friends in the game, they can spread the word, but is not enough.
Papaya must open their pockets and put some money on the table if they really want this game to survive or rise again.
Once UWO starts up, I would recommend that everyone visit one or more of the chat rooms that cater to gamers. Here is a link: http://www.instantshift.com/2014/06/23/top-gamers-forums/ We can all help to keep UWO interesting to new players and that will invigorate long time players as well.

Yeh I knew too.
But I just wanted to show everyone else :)
I presume others will have a similar amount of startup ducats. Inflation will be big on day 1.
Likely.
IMO it also means that you are abusing the system and that people like you are the ones that will force papaya to try to ban any alts at all.
You and others with a ridiculous amount of alts will already make the game massively financially imbalanced.
