I’m British so that means if someone insults me or steals from me, I will politely apologise to them and return home with my cane and newspaper under my arm and drink tea all day long.

But you crazy Americans will sue someone for accidentally stepping on your toe :D

Why have none of you tried to sue OGP or papapaya for deleting your property?

If you paid all this money for character development then surely it’s your propert and it has been mishandled and damaged by one of these companies.

I’m not suggesting to sue, I’m just surprised one of the Americans hasn’t.

I read recently an American man sued McDonald’s after he’d eaten a happy meal....because he still wasn’t happy xD

    A little thing called the TOS terms of service


    This body of text that most people skip past when they log on before you sign your life away to them  basically states all things in the game are their property and are not responsible for loss of money etc. Blah blah

    Basically if you want to satisfy your game junkie needs and play our game you cant sue us.  There "some" things you can sue them over like stealing credit card info or making criminal threats, scamming etc.  Unfortunately game sales transfers and deletion aren't one of those sue worthy offenses... You agree to the TOS you're screwed... simple

    Just because a TOS says something does not mean some progressive judge has to heed it. I have no doubt with enough time and energy you would find some progressive judge in America that could be swayed the TOS are void if fraud or some other kind of shady thing was construed to have transpired. A TOS does not necessarily grant license if the judge is persuaded some fraud was committed. So I would never say the TOS is bullet-proof.

    True but prove what fraud took place?

    Only fraud I saw was players getting various unexplained charges on their card following purchasing astro.

    Then the next problem is... You proved fraud now what? 

    A judge can make a company pay damages for sure especially with a class action lawsuit in cases of fraud but in this case you guys don't want money... Well some do lol but the majority want their characters and progress back. A judge can't MAKE a company restore your characters on the server and make them run the server. They either will make them pay monetary damages, send the parties to jail or return your characters to you (possibly a  backup of your player data on a flash drive) how useful is that? Lol And even this won't happen Lol

    Is NOT backing up and restoring the client game data considered fraud... 

    Nope. They not obligated to save and transfer and continue our progress. They obligated to protect financial information and personal information sure absolutely.. but as far their game data it's theirs alone not ours if they want to change their game to all players must be pirates they can do that or remove all game zones except EU can do that too and unfortunately warp everyone back to lvl 0 can do that too. No judge can MAKE  a game company run their game data how a judge wants not going to happen that violates business law... But deleting a virtual character doesn't. 

    Lastly say you do sue them for financial damages what would Papaya do.

    They'd nuke the game entirely especially since they own the data if a game is not making me money by them suing they'd drop the game or sell it off again possibly with NO legacy data at all.

    Here I am.  I am a crazy American now., The wipe caused me to lose my mind.  If I return I need your help, CPC.  Forget Adventure, Forget Trade, Forget making money with (______); why even bother?  I will return to feed my bitter frustrations and give every non-white name more grief than they ever gave me.  I lost everything, it will be an even playing field, and I shall not squander this rare opportunity by trading pigs.  I am going to try and kill what this game caters to.

    daren and I are both sick over this.  daren was still recovering from Hurricane Harvey.  daren lost a staggering amount of ships and items in the wipe:

    daren wants to return to uwo as a trader.  I want to take Cocoa-Puff and Cocoa-Pebbles and sit them in Seville with no gear or outfits as level 0/0/0 to protest.  I wanted to make a "Cocoa-Puffed" and do nothing but Maritime and give the pirates some grief, but who am I kidding?  I can barely type, have an upright mouse on the right to move, and a giant jumbo, taped-down mouse on the left, to click.  Soon I may have to get some hand-strap pointers and karate chop my keys, or a stick in my mouth like a dog.

    PSA: avoid Diet Drinks (Aspartame, NutraSweet, Equal, AminoSweet, the blue and yellow stuff)
    Nerve Damage, paralyzed Feet, no grip/no feeling hands

    Hard to battle when you can't click and you need 2 meese.  I cannot grind again, I cannot go back to BOATS after having  so many awesome SHIPS.  They could give me 100 Billion, and I still would not go back, especially after seeing they still have our Character data.   I would rather have the game just die for everyone, rather than this wipe.   I feel so bad for daren, he said the most hurtful thing of all was this is the only online game we played together.

    So, I will miss you Sergent.  I won't even put on my ruby red granny lipstick and smooch you goodbye, have a hug instead.

    Man, this thread wasted no time turning into an emotional roller coaster.  Started out cracking up at HelloAll apologizing with his cane and tea, got all serious and aggravated hearing about our powerless legal standpoint, then got a little fired up for battle with CocoaPuffBunny's rage, then had ripped my heart out at the end hearing CocoaPuffBunny's physical challenges to playing such a grindy game and the loss of being able to play with a friend.

    I'm outraged to the point of violence with the legal poisoning of our food with well known toxic garbage. Not to mention the pharmaceutical rackets.  And soon we'll have 5g cell towers so you won't even be able to go outside without being microwaved.  The Surgeon General and the entire FDA should all be in Guantanamo Bay getting water boarded in between forced rectal feedings if there was any justice in the world.

    Anyway, I hope all you guys quitting are at least doing the transfer so not to loose the founders packs, and will log in once a month to get your free UWO cash.  Even if it is a joke compared to what many of us lost, it is a free leg up should you decide to come back and visit, which hopefully you will when you are ready. 

    Once we get this new game world out of noob status, and some of your other friends get established (skills to leech, fast ships, ducats and EA goods flowing), you will have a much easier time getting back to levels and skills you're comfortable with.  And possibly have an easier time than you think getting back to ships, gear, and ducats comparable to what was lost.   Keep in mind too that inflation and the NC ship bubble are gone, at least for a while.  And everything keeps getting easier and easier than it used to be in this game.  Just take a break for a bit, but don't loose out on the free stuff.

    Pretty sure there were some comments about suing, but not sure from what country.

    But thank you for reminding me why my toon was British  ..... I like tea .... and your movies and your shows but maybe black pudding, not so much.

    There is no fraud from Papaya yet. There is from OGP tho cause they told us straight away lies about how they gonna keep going with UWO.

    Okay, so CocoaPuffBunny possibly staying in game is total fantastic

    I don't actual know the Bunny but always loved the name. Game wouldn't be right without it.

    If Papaya runs the game (which they don't know) like their forums (which they do) . . . it does not bode well. After about 15 posts that didn't show up, 4 finally did at once and the next 2 showed up right away. Now I'm back to nothing showing up, but some might show up and I don't know which ones.

    Like here I thought CocoaPuffBunny was coming back to the game which would have been really great....so I mention it. It didn't show up so now, after learning Bunny isn't going to keep playing the post I made before will make me look like I'm illiterate or just really dumb.

    If only 1 of my 3 posts in this topic shows up, I can at least hope it's this one.....even if the 1st one was the only one on topic.
