New world development information.

pieratthepieratthe Posts: 419Member Intermediate
Lets start a constructive post here :D  If anyone has any knowledge or information on what/how to develop the world of UWO please pass that along here.  The more people we have using founder rewards and early gameplay to actually develop this game the better.  I was around towards the end of Beta, but i never did any of that stuff i just played around.
My knowledge comes from extensive hours of grinding. I know most of the best places to grind and what quests to get and where to get them, and how to do the grind.  Many players enjoyed my ghost grinds cause i made them easy and simple.  I also will be farming AoS's the first week and would love for peeps to join me. So that on the 2nd week we can begin the black sea BR and get some maritime levels going.  That's where i'll be helpful, as far as development, only thing i ever did was invest for mayor and court ranks :D

The following are not necessarily to be done in this order, some can be done at the same time, some can be done before others depending on any number of variables. Bullets are for simplicity only.
    • School, all three, all levels, also start your national storyline if it helps your nation accelerate port permit process.
    • Oxford, as much and as fast as you can, unlock the 2nd building at least, 3rd as soon as practical
    • Select an aide as soon as you are allowed. Make sure the first one you pick will be a good supplement to your skills, and will get the skills you need in a reasonable amount of time. Remember you need 50 trust for him to drive a ship. Save a school ship for your first aide.
    • Start investing in every EU port you can for development, trade goods, recipes, shipbuilding etc
    • Imperial Quests, best if you can get a larger group of everyone in your nation going on these at once, sooner the majority opens each permit, the better.
    • Find one or two folks in you company to be the shipbuilders, help those folks get cash to grind to the point they can build you all some decent cargo ships, simultaneously designated crafters should be working crafting skills to support SB, the traders and the maritimers.
    • Use those cargo ships to start grinding some trade skills, have a few designated traders in your company to do this, starting in EU at first, until you get maritimers built.
    • SBers make some maritime ships, designated maritimers sail with your traders, build up some cash reserves for the whole company. At the same time your maritimers should work up rare plunder for those rare drop recipes, items., they can also grind battle reports for their own skills and fame.
    • Build your adventurers, they will work your dungeons, item quests, and lead the charting.
    • Start investing in the outside EU ports, pay attention to those that have materials for industrial revolution crafting
    • Develop your quarters, have your crafters build furniture for them (presupposes outside EU ports have been sufficiently developed for those recipes to appear)
    • Work your court ranks, should progress naturally as you do all these other things, but don't forget to visit your palace.
    • Place an item in the museum in Paris, and renew it once a week, cultural contribution points are helpful for several things, you may need your adventurers to obtain items for you.
    • Donate items to the Craftsman to build up your Florence points, for advanced production
    • Develop your national colony in Carrib, you will need it for dock space, recipes, maps, etc
    • Select and develop your farm
    • Each company needs to rebuild their colony, do immigrant quests, etc
    • Start the nanban opening process, but wait until you have a large enough cargo to make this feasible. You will need at least a large amount of goods just to open your first cities in each nation. Without that, plan on one nation per trip at the most.
    • Use any nanban goods you do bring back to EU to raise your trade fame first, bazaar once you are comfortable with your fame and levels.
    • Add more aides as you are able to, continue to grind you desired skill set. This will require getting quarters to R4.

I know I am forgetting some things, but this is more or less the plan I would use. I am still not sure I'll play again. This is a larger community focused list, but that's my mindset. Take it as you will.

Sorry, it had bullet points in my text, deleted them when it posted. This forum system is terrible.

I am planning on doing SB sewing casting and handi if I have enough room for having all those books
  • pieratthepieratthe Posts: 419Member Intermediate
well i wasn't really looking for each person plan on rebuilding their char sorry for confusion.  Was more along the lines of say someone who's going to be spanish and start a company and knows what to do, post their names and such on here, so when i start i know who to look for to join comp.  Just wouldn't be smart as i said to have everyone wanna be comp director and one first day we got 10+ comp's.  Should be a known veteran.  We'll need 1 for each nation so that comp can direct the development for that nation and we get this done as fast as possible.  yea it'll take a while but no need to not plan
  • shelleylshelleyl Posts: 90Member Beginner
Pierat, I posted a list that would apply to just about any nation, and did so intentionally. The steps to rebuild the world are essentially the same. Like I said, I know I forgot some things, but if you want things to be like they were, those are most of the essentials. Sadly, the formatting I'd done was lost when it posted, I can't fix that. CatchXXII already has about 10 coming back to see what happens at least, and we'll go from there.

I am not even sure if the company I was in will be back and it is a shame I made some good friends in there. So I might be one of the orphans in UWO :)

shellyl actually included these in her list.  But just to boil list that down to only what's necessary collectively (that I know of) to get this stupid "fresh start" world out of noob status and back to operational.  It seems to come down to 2 main things:

    1.  Investing in all the EU ports (and eventually farther ports) to get development up so all the trade goods, recipes, ships, etc. get unlocked.  So maybe if somebody has a list they could post of what ports are most important that we should focus on.

    2. Each nation unlocking their National port permits.  Not sure if that's the right expression but for those who don't know... When we get up to the port permits that require Imperial Quests to unlock... We won't be able to just do the IQ once and we get the permits.  Each nation will require I think it's 5000 national contribution points for that region.  Each individual that does an IQ will get something like 4 points counted towards that 5000 total their nation needs to hit.  Once your nation hits the required collective 5000 points THEN you get your actual port permits.  And once that's done, anyone after can just do the IQ once and get their permits the way most of us are accustomed to.  So we will all need to run Imperial Quests like madmen for the good of our nations.

Forgive me if any of this is a little off.  I wasn't there for beta.  This is just what I know from having read a lot of the old player reviews and stuff from the era.

I also know that Nations control over ports was a big deal to the original founders.  I believe in the pre-Nanban (and possibly even pre-spice) world the tax breaks and goods in these oddball ports was much more important as all they had was what we would now think of as short distance trade.  Jems from India were the big time goods.  Company directors within nations would coordinate over what ports they were trying to control and work together.

I don't really know if that's going to be relevant for us though, as not only did the introduction of Investment bonds kind of brake it for them at the time, but we will most likely be jumping right past any relevance of short distance trade in our rush to get SEA unlocked for spice and EA unlocked for Nanban.  But I'm not much of a trader so who knows how that will all shake out.

Anyone have a breakdown of whats good for developing the national colonies in the Carib?  I had the OGP forum posts on the subject favorited but didn't think to copy that info before it went down.

Well considering the founder awards actually u only need r6 search and r8 theo (+3 adv skills 1 day)x3.
Staff of the dead +2 theo from bored-o (easy to get) so u need r6/r6.  All u gotta do is browse the archieves everytime u come back to ur starting town to turn in quests. r6 won't take long.  like i said first week :D.  Oh u also get +1 search staff iirc from school :p  instructier mathis staff or whateva it is  :D  Please do not doubt my knowledge or expertise again crzyhunter :D  i know excatly what i'm doing in this game :D

i think i mite be kin to him Idsadar, i've made 3 accurate predictions about UWO (timing a little off but what happened i said was going to)

The best advice i can give here is just to teach your new players about the value of investing and unlocking goods at certain ports.  Its really not easy to tell a player they should invest the cash back after working so many hours to earn it.

I think this point of the game got lost the last time through, the cash shop completely destroyed port investing.  The whales just took care of it.  Lucky for my nation we had one such Whale and only because of him we were able to weather that storm. Essentialy this one player had more money than all of france put together in the form of invesment bond.  Such a shame to see the game just trashed like that by the cashshop.

Get your newbies involved early and often or my nation will crush yours with the weight of all those ducats haha!!

    I don't buy POs anyway,so no biggy.

not underestimating anyone's ability, just being realistic

at start we are all 0/0/1,0/1/0 or 1/0/0 with no skills and no def

to get to a point where you can attempt bordeaux,we will have to do quite a bit of skill grind, lvling up plus we will need sufficient armour to withstand the attacks of the enemies in there

only if you concentrate solely on this,w/o doing anything else would it even be possible to try it
