Fame Knowledge

Hello all, I know we are looking forward to grinding Fame up again. ( not funny I know)
but with this comes a few things that you might want to know.

unless it has changed during OGP rule, you could only get so much Fame Per trade transaction.
I believe this magical number used to be 300, so for me, starting Venetian and going to be using the Feather boost. I will need to actually trade a certain number of feathers to stay below this amount or anything above it will be wasted. so a few transactions will be required if I have a full ship of feathers.

if any others know this has changed please advise.

Further to this, people that want to excel in the game will be the minimalists. people that will take the 2 seconds to select buying only 60 trade goods of a particular tier, then buying the rest. over someone that buys it all and sells it all..

    what this means.
    if you were to buy all at once;
    60 Iron ore
    60 tin ore
    60 copper ore
all at the same time, you will only get 40 skill prof ( not taking boosts into account)
    but if you buy;
    60 iron ore
    then
    60 tin ore
    then
    60 copper ore
you would receive 40 from each transaction. so 120 skill prof,( not taking boosts into account)
this is again for only mineral prof, you can combined 2 different skills such as

    60 iron ore
    60 iron
you will get 40 mineral prof
and also get 40 wares prof.

I feel this has been lost with the I WANT RESULTS NOW generation.

I know when I did spice run and had 3 trade goods to boost fame  you sold the 3 in increments of 50 50 and 50 to boost fame and XP for a XP and fame explosion

Incorrect aceman  When it comes to sellig goods to the market keeper i did a lots of testing.  If u want XP sell in groups of 50.  Most xp i ever got was 135k per 1 sell, i sold 1500 goods, it was 100each of 15 different types of nanban (went to 100 cause i was high level)  but yes in groups of 50 give most xp per good.  U can test if u want but at 51 goods u start getting less xp per good  exaample 50 goods give u 100 xp 2 per* u sell 51 goods u only get 101 xp, so instead of 2 per ur now down to 1 xp per.  Hope tha makes sense.

    As for Fame it's 7
    ..
Yes 7 goods on 1 type get u the most fame.  don't believe me, sell 1, then sell 2, then... when u get to 7 do some math, get the excat fame per item, then sell 8 and u'll see the fame per good has went down.  selling in stacks like  7 wuxu, 7 brush, 7 saori all at same time gives multipliers, but again if u go 8/8/8 u'll lose fame per good.   it mite be a little different with short trade goods, but i only tested the nanban goods

This forumla is also true when investing, the most important skill in the game, Sociability.  Ive forgoten the exact formula used but it will all come back to me within the first few weeks of playing.  Ill make sure to share out the knowledge.

But off hand i beleive the formula for both trades and investing was about 2 times your skill lvl times by 10(for trade)2.5  times your skill lvl times by 1000(for investing)

so rank 10 spice trader would only want to buy no more than 200 spice at a time, doesnt matter if you seperate each spice just dont buy more than 200 in total at once.

I just cant remember the investment formula to confidently post the information The numbers above seems low but i think thats the formula i used.  Very hard to find this info online.

    Good info pieratthe,

Unfortunatley we wont be on those trade goods for some time. And feathers may be a higher threshold due to lower fame per. I will test once i access feathers and post my findings for all.

I am not really doing feathers for the sewing grind persay.. i am doing feathers in venice area because they are a speciallty of the northern sea area. So i recieve more fame from trading those goods.

    The race to 18000 fame.

Combo bonus fame at 50 goods is efficient, if you want to hit the next level you must have 100.

Dam i wish i could just log in and test this lol my recall is failing not having played in years. Im hesitant to post these numbers.

If someone sees the info as incorrect i encourage corrections!  i need a refresher course in UWO economics 101^^

unchartedwaters.olous.com/   That is a very good site for trade goods.  If u have not used that before, go ahead and look around.  Type in the name of a trade good or a town.  It shows u what is a special good in each town for local trading.

This is good info thank yall. So if i want to buy ore i should buy up to 60 at a time always or is it based off of ore trade level? It looks like its been posted both ways.

honestly I don't know how much OGplanet effected it, and if papaya will change it so I would say test and adjust, buy 1, see what it yields. buy 2. check again. until you start getting diminished returns, then go with what works best, I know this doesn't answer you question completely but we are all unsure how Papaya play will effect the game. if it is reset back to original everything. it will be a serious grind...

I wanted it to be know that just buying max. then selling max wasn't the best way to level up fame or prof.

Its based off your own industrial goods skill(forgot the name but PO3 type i think)  The ports where your able to purchase more than what you can effectivly skill up on are mostly rare. It will take port development before these ports start unlocking the bonus goods where this formula comes into play.

seapirate? are u saying that like, 20 wares specialty goods gives more points than 20 regular wares?
  • patersmith66patersmith66 Posts: 503Member Intermediate
    pieratthe,

not 7,  There is a formula for fame based on distance and value of good sold, and additional multiplier based on multiple goods sold at the same time.
Do a few thousand nanban trades and you will find that 7/7/7 one time will give you a different value than 7/7/7 the next time.  Market status, preferred goods status, successful haggle, country relation status (amity, trust, goodwill etc)affects the trade value, which in turn affects the fame per trade.  This means a successful haggle at 7/7/7 l in one market may get you less fame than 7/7/7 and a failed haggle in a different market.

Specialty only effects fame when sold, the skill ups for specialty and normal wares(thanks lol) would be the same.

Good luck with that because you need to unlock India then SEA permits. And you will have barca ship to start with.
