What grinds are you gonna love/ hate?

I hated sewing from about R2 onwards. And I really hated it after about R10.

I gave up on most trade skills - they moved so slowly even at low levels - so I made space for more useful skills.

I really enjoyed fishing, and I know some of the best spots for catching Tuna. Along with fishing, storage was okay - the later levels went really fast once I got a ship with a galley. And along with that cooking was one of my first maxxed skills. In my first company I was the food supplier. I could do 2k tuna steaks in in 1 hour 30.

I also enjoyed crafting. It has so many applications - so there's lots of variety in grinding it, and lots of useful products.

I never got into grinding battle skills.

ADV skills I never worked on 'til I did the Gran Atlas. That was fun at first - but a trial towards the end because it's so samey. But getting 5k for some of the pacific seas was motivating.

I was just starting to work on Nanban when the servers closed. I'd got two thirds of the way to open all the Korean towns by making 2-handed swords on the mainland. I was looking forward to the challenge of Nanban.

I did sewing and actually I had fun doing it then I refined it and re grinded it to r15 and had the tailor job and became a meister of sewing so I will do it again I hated grinding cooking and storage

I didn't mind grinding sewing/crafting/casting, but this time around I will be trying SBing as well, ive heard a lot of good/bad about that grind. lol

I had sewing at r11, casting at r10 and handicrafts at r7 before the wipe.

grinded a lot of BRs for maritime and Spice runs for trader, but hated adventure (no offense to those who love it).

Trading skill will be the one i love the most, its an epic grind back and forth for hours upon hours, but the fact you can share your skills amongst your fleet members makes it overpowered if you take the time needed.  Anyone going to ambon in my fleet enjoyed a r19 in spice trading.

Adventure XP is the most easy since your essentialy able to max it out just doing trading. however i found the quests to be more exciting then your normal MMO questing and you get to learn something at the same time.  The adventure skills took up alot of space so i only ever had 1 toon specilize in them to get access to some of the more rare quest rewards!

Martime and landbattle grind is my least favorite, grinding your cannon to max takes alot of time but once you do you can sink anyone not using good plate in a few shots. The reward is definatly worth the effort. Getting attacked by pirates and after having shot them one time they realize the mistake they made and quickly start to flee... priceless!

I guess that means i love them all^^  well maybe not landbattle *ugh yawn*

I thought about alchemy and ship building. But watching friends do it put me off. But my search skill was boosted by collecting ores for the guy doing alchemy.

My best job was artificer and I had all the production skills maxxed.

    Arms is even worst

I thought management was okay. I used to sail around collecting brine and turning it into salt - then dump the salt back in the sea lol.

Management was easy for me, just loaded up on wool, sheep and ores to level my skills and management at the same time out at sea, became a farming run routine for me, was r8 before the wipe.

Arms was next on my list before the wipe.

It works better with doing sewing and casting goes up a little faster with more stuff you cast
  • fsxguyfsxguy Posts: 51Member Beginner
The most fun though for me will be quickly maxing and refining my battle skills so I can continue to bounty hunt :D.

I used the Baltic/English/Dutch areas to farm and level all those skills at once, then do a Spice run after with a ship full of cargo. lol

Just remembered I have to do the whole circumnavigation quest and getting SF all over again :-\

I ran into a nest of NPCs off Yuntaishan at low speed casting swords in my workshop. Wasn't using caution - got badly beaten up :/

    What game were you playing.
What max adventure skill or xp did you get? Bio 15", Unlock?  Level 85 Adventure?
Where did you get the 2.5M xp for the last 5 levels?

I wouldnt mind doing production skills again, at least it will somewhat easier with auto production. Battle grinding, again it will be easier with BRs (didnt have that until I got my battle level to 60). Charting and land mapping Im gonna hate doing again. :(
  • aceman39aceman39 Posts: 943Member Intermediate
    I would like that

Okay ace, if crystal does not return. I will help you out. Well I will help you regardless. I just hope this never happens to the game again because I won’t have the will power to return to this game again.

I agree with you there all that hard work was for nothing with this wipe. I worked like we all did hard to get where we all was

    Patersmith

My main toon had no adventure skills, i was strictkly talking about XP and you can max out your adventure level just sailing around, after a few months doing spice runs you will max adventure without ever doing any adv skill grind.  At the time i played before they destroyed the game with cash shop items the cap was 65.

I never "grinded" anything for more than maybe an hour or two.  I just did what was enjoyable and let the skills take care of themselves.  If something got to be a grind/boring I just switched to something else.  The ducats pretty much took care of themselves as well.  Certain activities and skills were at times a priority and I would come back to them regularly.
