I've only done Sewing, Cooking, Spice, and Art so far. Art was pretty fun and the last thing I grinded so it was a nice change to do Adventure things instead of constant Trade.
Venetian area is a good start for really low Sewing ranks, but Northern Europe and then India is where the later levels come.
Always considered Alchemy, but then I never know if I'll enjoy the grind or if it would be worth the time.
I was almost done with re-grinding and re-refining my production skills on my alt when it closed. So I'm not really looking forward to doing them all over again, especially without a good reliable access to purchase orders. But those I can do some day...
SB. No one deserves to lose any rank of this skill. Tis a nightmare.
I am an old player from Netmarble days, I only came back for about a month before game closure. unfortunately for me all I did that month was grind...
I grinded cannon skills from R9-10 to RR15 (penertration, reloading, accuracy, ballistics, gunnery) Casting from R16 to RR16 Sewing from R10 to RR16 Storage from R15 to RR16 Cooking from R16 to RR16 Handicraft from R16 to RR16 I was about to start on melee skills but then got word the server was closing so I started grinding levels and unlocking Nanban.
Trade Goods grinding will take the Longest but yes will most likely be worth it.
I also refined sewing and once the game relaunches I will do the same thing all over I was a r19 with the refine and the plus from refine and the tailor job

The Shipbuilding grind was one of the most unfun things I've ever done in a game, period. And yet, it was incredibly satisfying when it was done. I'm going to miss being able to build and mod my own ships, but it will take awhile if I'm ever up to that task again.
I'm looking forward to try grinds I have not done before - this time unburdened by my old skillset :D I will however look forward to grind shipwreck raising - if I can get my hands on map pieces :D
I am however *not* looking forward to the management skillgrind... Never was much of a crafter and that skill drains me every time x_x
I hated grinding maritime as a merchant (I hadn't done any maritime grinding since before the introduction of battle reports). The problem was that I didn't have many maritime skills (excluding a handful of skills that are useful outside of battle), so I couldn't really handle enemies that were strong enough to give a reasonable amount of xp. I only grinded maritime for the extra maximum vigour, to use better ships, to get more skills, and for an occasional change of pace. Most of the time I just used tributes and ceasefires to avoid all NPC battles. Maybe it won't be so bad once I give the battle reports a try, though I don't intend to use any more skill slots on maritime this time around for my primary character.
I liked it more when I created a second character dedicated to maritime, but I rarely used that character since my primary character still had a long way to go.
I generally liked grinding the crafting skills, especially handicrafts (the only skill I refined). With that said, I generally approached the game in the same way as spiekums. Though I sometimes spent time grinding crafting skills (when I could afford the PO's necessary or else had the patience for port hopping), I spent most of my time on Nanban trips, spice trading, travelling all over the place to craft a certain item that was very profitable for me on the market (even more so than Nanban), job quests, or the occasional adventure quest.
My favorite aspect of the game was exploring the world and discovering new locations. Maybe I should focus a little more on the adventure class this time around. I actually like charting sea regions and had finished charting every sea region (barring a future Antarctica update). Charting should make it much easier to build up adventure experience and fame this time around.
BR is Battle report where you can fight upto 200 ships plus the boss ships at every 50 but gives a lot of XP and fame. I know I can't wait to grind Sewing and sb again :D
This is were we see the lack of experience on the players that will remain on the server... By far... the worst skill to grind... is Rowing... then... its SB... all the rest... peanuts... grinding those 2 skills will make ur worst nightmares look like a sunny summer day...
I've never even heard of the refined skills or resetting skills back to 1 at st pete to refine them. And I played for 2 years, up to levels 58/68/62? or so, hard to remember. There is just so much to do in this game, I don't see how you could quit even if you are really pissed about losing stuff. But one thing you didn't lose was knowledge of the game - think hard on that advantage!
SB and Rowing are my worst nightmare even I admit that I do not want to grind those ever again. Craftings are easy to grind even though sewing is rather slow to rank up ,but it will get better after once you hit r10.
I don’t get the pain of rowing because I don’t think it needs to be a grind. Just get the skill early and use it constantly going about your business.
It’s only really all that useful for maritime, so there is no reason why you can’t stay in a row boat through out the cannon, melee grind. I was just about to do circum nav in my Arabian galley before the server closure was announced.
But I did get to R8 rowing without trying, just by opening the map and going about daily maritime grinding

Crafting skills go up faster if crafting while sailing?
I’ve heard a few people talk about refining acrafting skill. What does that mean?
Crafting while sailing is for managment skill. Raises on GSs and also if ur ship has a galley/workshop it could yeild more goods
