Papaya have been smart

As per the title.

When I found out about the wipe there was a whole series of emotions that flowed through me..anger being the main one.

But because they have given a fairly long wait time until we can play again I’ve started to change my thinking.

Now many that said they would quit are starting to calm down and willing to give it a go.

And now...i can only speak for myself..
But I miss the game so much I can’t wait to get back playing...even the thought of grinding skills that i’d already maxed seems exciting again just because I want to get logged in and start playing again.

I think they knew if they took the game away for a while we would start to get withdrawal symptoms and quickly forgive and forget.

If the game has started the day after OGP closed, but still with a complete wipe, I think more of us would of walked away.

    IMO Papaya being smart would've involved not wiping the server and actually fixing the issues that existed, but meh.

    Ok, crafty maybe a better word.

    I imagine in there eyes they will believe many vets will want to reach their former lvls and therefore papaya could squeeze another 7 years of cash out of us.

    Plus the free cash shop money per month just gets us used to using the cash shop and they probably hope that this will make us want to continue using the cash shop over the upcoming years.

    Just like when a supplier gives free samples, hoping that we like it and will then go buy it when it’s released.

    The value of the free cash depends entirely on how much/what can be bought with it. Regardless of their motives they definitely could've been more honest/open about it, and not shoved the blame onto OGP when evidence points to it being their own decision, not a technical issue. I tried so hard to believe this would be a good change, hell, I actually said Papaya would be good for UWO. Now I find myself rescinding those words, which makes me rather sad. Not much to be done about it I suppose besides to grin and bear it. The fact that a game such as UWO exists is proof that miracles do happen, be they by the grace of God or from the minds of KOEI. It frustrates me, immensely, that this miracle is being squandered by poor management.

    I think we should all reserve judgement on Papaya until after we start playing and see how things work out. I'm hopeful simply because the game is continuing and not being shut down. I'll wait to give any more detailed judgements of papaya.

    Smart would be the announcement of server opening 1 week earlier than posted :D  say the 11th :D

    yes, moving up the launch would definitely help them get more on my good side. I'm going through withdrawals and star wars old republic does not help much.

    yes WoT has become flooded with nothing but crap players, each game ur fighting ur butt off just to lose anyway.  Cant play all 15 tanks on ur team :D

    I've just had a quick look at the forums for the other PP games.

    Not a lot of love out there for PP.

    Lots of complaints of bottles full of random rubbish; purchased gear being outdated by new gear in shops; P2W etc. 

    LaTale got the same server wipe treatment when PP took it over.

     Putting the launch date out so far has done nothing to mollify me. I have not forgotten what they did.

    I don t know why is taking so long if they erased everything to 0....i tought that is gonna take 3 weeks because they will need more time to transfet the accounts but since they erased all,why this long wait?

    Guys, I've been playing part time since NetMarble.  Maybe there was a better fix.  But, the game economy had gotten so out of hand, that I could no longer enjoy playing.  All I had time to do was run Nanban and shout NC items for sale in Seville.  I lost 2 toons that were pretty awesome.  But, I can build a toon in a month.  I know, I've seen me do it.  I'm gonna enjoy this until I find out they didn't get it anywhere close to right.  I do feel sorry for myself.  I have spent a lot of real money on the game.  But, I do miss the old time prrates.

    Hehehe playing Forums.....did the same when uwo at Netmarble changed from Closed Beta to the Open Beta, the game was shut down for like 1 week or so, the waiting was unbearable + the long downloading time when the game finnally reopened.

    @Idsadar

    Setting up hardware, making sure that hardware is working fine and OS is updated, then installing the game server software and making sure it's also in working order takes time.  This is one thing I can give Papaya a pass on; OGP had to go through the same thing when they picked up the game too.  Better to make sure the game is working properly after three weeks than an early release where bad QA leads to downtime and bugs.

    The wipe is the best decision. Economy needs a thorough cleansing. And being able to play the game from low levels with many other low levels is so much funner.

    Get over your digital ego if you can't handle losing all your credit card items.
