General Discussion
My personal opinion on alts is that if not allowed it does force people to play together, that being said, it's impossible to actually do what u want with 1 toon, u have to pick and choose.  My choice would only be allow 1 main and 1 alt per person.  3 toons is a little much, and i promise if u start 3 from scratch and try to work all 3 at same time you will burn out.  If u plan on 3, i would suggest you maybe run 2 to start with and get those to decent levels and skills, then bring in a 3rd.

That being said if they only allow 3, i know some of ya'll will still be trying to run 4 and 5 toons, if i see that i will be sending in a SS of it to the admin's :D

    This is from a post i read that says someone on facebook has confirmed alts.  Anyone else confirm that?

    It would be nice if allowed. I'd like to have a cooking alt and it would be unfair to those of us that can't get around blocks put in place.

    Well from my experience this works best.  Make 2 toons, do adv/battle on one.  and then  make you a trader/crafter alt.  Also put SB on ur alt.  Reason for all this is simple.  As a trader you will want to defect to each nation and invest in EVERY town, so you have access to all the goods from every town.  Also your SB will then be 7N.  Also with SB on ur alt, u can just leave him at a town to grind SB while ur out playing the game.  If we are allowed 3, of course i will use 3, but i won't be making my 3rd toon until EA is completely unlocked.  Only reason for 3rd toon is Cargo Alt, don't even to grind skills on Cargo Alt :D

    You have to have at least 2 toons, or certain sections of the game will be severely restricted or even impossible to do. Making everyone have only one character would leave this game as a faint shadow of what it could be, like telling someone they can drive a car, but only at 5 mph, and only between the hours of midnight and 1 am.

    If papaya is going to put in the effort then the 5 man multi PO farming or 5 man spice trade fleets are easy to spot and punish accordingly.

    Theres only a few spots people do these behaviors, If no action taken against them early... then we know the policy we can expect(and spend accordingly ingame to support it).  So easy to see its being abused when you see stacks of 200 POs go up for sale.  If papaya is unwilling to stop this kind of thing from happening im unwilling to support the game with my money.

    And ur right, you can watch the BR's, dungeons like bordeaux, and even nanban/spice runs are easy to spot multiboxers.  I do hope the game is police'd more than with OGP.

    I totally agree with you on this Pieratthe, however, if we are supporting fleets, then you say your gonna be reporting full fleets that run spice and dungeons, then you may be reporting actual players.
    not sure what Papaya play will decide for alts but if they limit us to 1 then they need to expand the skills learnable. Realistically if we were role playing it makes sense, you can't be proficient in every aspect of the game as you wouldn't be in real life. I am planning on 3 toons, if I have to cut back due to game rules, then I will, I only ran 2 before and felt a bit handicapped compared to others that ran 3.

    starting 3 will be rough... heck starting 1 over is rough.. but hitting Alt tab 1 more time isn't that bad. :)

    I only ever used my main and I used my alt when I was sewing cause sometimes with prep and stuff you could very easy run out of hold room on your ship

    Well same theory goes here that i used in iraq "Shoot em all, let the Lord sort it out"  <--- jokes btw.

    See me taking SS's doesn't really affect non-multiboxers.  Yes the GM's will have to take time and look at it.  But they can look at the timestamp on the SS, and compare that with login records and see if those players are all from the same IP.  Me sending in the SS doesnt give the ban, the ban comes the GM's checking into the SS and confirm/deny the use of multiboxers.  Besides if they put out we should SS and send in, and give a list of punishments, like 1st time = warning, 2nd time = 7day ban, 3rd time = deletion of all chars associated with the multi.  And then actually stand behind it, it'll weed out the multi's.

    See we all are having to start over, and if u know ur caught u'll be doing it again.  I don't think as many would be likely to risk it.  Would suck to start over on 18th, just to have to start over again 2-3 months down the road.

    netmarble banned alts, which is why lots of people used alts for spice vs alts for nanban, if ur spice alt got caught and deleted u could just make another do couple permits and back at it, a nanban alt deleted is harder to replace.  Having to do all those trades to get the other towns unlocked and such.
    So imagine with an undeveloped server, it won't be appealing to keep making alts to farm ducats.

    You got to remember OGP allowed upto 3 on at one time from the same IP address and from what we understand This new server allows alt. You are someone who just want to cause problems for others and that is messed up. You want to get others in trouble. People like you is what makes people mad

    there is more benefits then just cargo. you can then easily focus on Maritime with 1 toon with only required trade and adv skills, and all trade and adv skills on the other 2 toons, such as a production toon and a a ship building toon.

    just because you don't see all three alts together doesn't mean people aren't doing it.. a Shipbuilding alt could literally just fish/ collect/ wait for ships to be built outside port. you give him sufficient ducats for a few ships .. like 5x 30 day ships.. then go play the game with the other 2.

    @laviol Well of course, u can easily have different alts for each crafting as well, maybe i should have said you don't NEED a 3rd except for cargo.  You can easily get all the skills u want with just 2 toons.  

    @aceman  I honestly don't care about people opinions of me.  If that was the case i wouldn't have been pirate for most of my 7yrs here, i wouldn't have always pushed to have piracy reinstated, and i wouldn't have suggest'ed server wipe before OGP closed.  But yet i did all this...ummm

    I'm one of these new types of people out here, and when u get "offended" by something, that shites "OFFENDS" me.  So honestly don't care if peeps like me.  I don't play games to make friends, how sad would that be :D

    And if someone is running more than the allowed accounts and they get banned cause of me i would rejoice publically.  If someone get mad cause i reported them and they were within the limit, OK no harm no foul.  See reporting or saying i'm reporting will only "make mad" those that will be affected by a ban from breaking the rules... and that doesn't bother me at all, ur "making me mad" by using more than allowed toons :D

    Yes i'm all for using my knowledge and experience to redevelop the game, and assist most people with char progression and making them succed, but my only reasons for doing that is so i can pirate more and more peeps daily.  I'm just as bad as a game host, nothing i do is for YOUR benefit, it's all 100% for my benefit.

    I never use more then allowed and when I use my alt it is on for a small amount of time for what I am using it for then I log it out and I have no problems with pirates I just try to figure out ways for them not to find me. I understand being a pirate is part of the game and everyone has the right to play what ever they want. It is like a chess game. You try to figure out the best way to out smart the other to win or in a traders thinking how to get away before being seen

    i agree with pieratthe under NM the game was alot better. instead of 5 fleet multi boxers getting away with it they were quite diligent on stopping abusers from mass multiboxing,
