Newcomers' Comapny

LerxstLerxst Posts: 111Member Trainee
I came back to this game a while ago, to find my friends list full of dormant players, my company dissolved and players complaining about no room to store their billions of ducats from buying ESBs or whatever the hell they were called. It was a very ugly period to return to a game i sued to love.

I did a little (Ok, very BIG) Happy Dance when I saw that Papaya was going to do a server reset and revamp some areas of the game. And I am definitely going to invest heavily, especially in play time, in this game in its new relaunch.

Now I would like to ask any new player or old. bitter, long-ago returning player, if they would like to form a Company, or at least group up at the start.

No offense to all you old vets who stuck with it, but I get a sense that you're interested in power-gaming your way through the game to get back to where you were. But I'm looking for players that want to experience the sense of adventure this game used to have, and possibly will go back to having. So that we can be amused at the same things, befuddled by the same things, laugh about the same mistakes, have casual fun, etc.

My name used to be Clariss and I was based in the Netherlands - no one here would actually remember me since, I mentioned all my friends left the game.. I'm open for changing, since I just want to experience the game again and couldn't care less where or how I got that experience. So catch up with me in the game when it launches and see what we can work out!

    I feel the same way about the new reset.  Its what the game needed and im sure that the game will get a nice population boost.  So many left after netmarble started selling investment bonds.

    I will start my old company up under the French nation, and start teaching newer players. I was Davincio last time around and more than likely will stick with the name.  I encourage anyone thats interested in rolling with france to contact me so we can get a quick start and dominate the world!

    Glad to see you back Clariss,i do seem to remember this name sailing around years and years ago maybe.

    I was against reset, but have accept it, I just wish they only reset the characters. left the world as we new it still intact, so investments would not be such a huge deal.. world development was already done.. that is what I hope they could fix..

    Maybe they did leave the world intact, since they said they're continuing the roll out of Age of Revolution? How would that work if all the ports were back to zero? I really don't know, so I am curious.

    Well i've been thinking about that too.  We know all the recent updates with ogp had a storyline/quest line u had to follow.  So won't we have to redevelop the world, then start doing the story/quest line to catch up, THEN access the new content?

    I'm guessing they will leave world development alone, but wipe all investments.

    That honestly would be the smartest move on their part.  That way people can start actually enjoying playing vs some of us spending all our time grindind development.  Would hate to get burned out.

    if papaya is concerned about this happening they would most likely just increase the amount of development that happens with investments.(this is the only way  i could see them adress the issue, it must be unless they plan on taking the same path as last time and letting the cashshop destroy the game)

    UWO overseas probly had over 100k players when it first launched, you can imagine how that would effect the speed of development in the world.  the original version of our game was modeled assuming these kind of player counts which never happened over here.  The solution was investment bonds for them, which just flopped and ruined the games balance.

    Within 12 hours of them being available for purchase my nation lost 7 of 11 ports under our control.  They took away the nations pride and started selling it in the cash shop which killed all motivation and soon after the game lost around half its population(assumed from what i witnessed).

    Obviously this solution shouldnt be used again, the 12 hour mark is not an exageration at all, 4 months or so of hard work gone overnight because of  whaling.  It got even worse when they added 1B investment bonds in the cashshop boxes.

    I wish someone at Koei would speak out to us players and let us know what the solution to this problem will be.

    I Agree, a post that includes all changes and stuff should be posted pre-launch.  Withholding that info til launch day i dont think is a good idea.  not like waiting to make anouncement will make people decide to stay and play if they don't like the changes.  The Unknown causes more fear than the known.  sure someone famous said that at some point :D

    @Lerxt

    Hi Clarriss, I think the purpose of your thread kinda got tangled up and lost in all the other things going on in a bored community.

    I'm in tune with your sentiments. I don't buy into this "let's rebuild UWO" approach. I'm not saying it's wrong - just that it's not the way I'll be playing. I think UWO will be whatever it will be. I'm just here to play a game and enjoy myself. We all shape the future just by playing.

    I expect to be spending the first 2 months just sailing round Europe, working on my collecting/ crafting skills. I'm not getting into a mindless, zombie-like grind to get back to where I was (56/56/24 artificer).

    I'll be looking to join a company with the same relaxed approach. Lots of company chat. Help new players (if there are any!). Help each other. Maybe work on some collective projects like a colony.

    I'm going to make a big investment in time - I'm self-employed and work at home so I play on and off all day. But I'm not putting in any real money until I see Papaya earning some trust.

    I'll be London-based. IGN was Egregious-Yapp but I may start with a new name. I'll look you up when we get going.

    Thanks for your post.

    I am no vet, and I have not heard on the whole from the vets the same thing that Lerxst has heard, but I do agree it's time for papaya and or koei to step up.  We are approaching as many posts here as there are in papaya's active games, and we haven't started yet!

    @juliemontague

    I also noticed we had the busiest forum. But I think it's just 'cos we're all bored and have nothing else to do. WE AND WANT OUR GAME BACK.

    I returned to the game with a number of rl friends in July and we started a new player friendly company in Amsterdam. We were doing really well and having a great time. Many will return but we had and will have plenty of space for new players. So if anyone is interested United_We_Stand will return in Amsterdam, come look us up!
