Start of UWO

I do believe me and him played an "alpha" verison of the game on steam prior to the Beta release.  I got out of military in July 07, me and him was staying with my dad, and it was shorty after that time frame that he started playing (he played 3-4 months before i did)  I know that doesn't sound right cause wasn't it 2010 they say the beta was launched? or was 2010 after i'm not sure, but i was playing before i met my wife, she had a son who was 1 when i met her.  He just turned 9.     IF anyone has any info or insight on this, i would appreciate that.

Oh i found it :D
"La Frontera" is the first expansion pack for Uncharted Waters Online released in 3 installments the first of which is titled "Aztec" on August 30, 2006.[13] This extends the Age of Exploration from the early 16th century into the 17th century with new areas in South America & North America

So that explains how i was playing in 07, 08 :D

again any info on this will be appreciated. or just tell me i'm wrong and show me proof, cause i'm lost :D

    When UWO was in announced for testing I signed up, yet never actually played it till many years later.  If im not mistaken, my start date shown on the old forum was 2004.

     Six years after the initial Asian release, Netmarble published the game, under its traditional English title, for the non-Asian market in North America and Europe.[1] On August 18, 2010

    That would be 2004 :D

    That's pretty old school for UWO, but I remember having to rent a Nintendo from Blockbuster so I could play the NES version of Uncharted Waters back in 1992. Then in 2005 I bought a sega genesis off ebay, even though I hate sega genesis, because the only version of Uncharted Waters 2 New Horizons I could find for sale was for the genesis. Later, I downloaded UW2 on my PC and I played up until I found UWO a couple of years ago. I was playing like 40 or 50 hours a day on the OGP server, and I lost a lot of stuff, but I'm still pumped for the newly reset game, and I'm getting more excited all the time waiting. The thing I love about RPG's are the grinding, the other games I liked, such as Ultima or Final Fantasy VI involved a lot of grinding levels, not enough to suit me, but a lot. UWO has all the grinding you could ask for, and more, and I'm ready to get to it.

    40-50 hours per day, man you must of had an ‘interstellar’ experience.

    Was your family considerably older than you once you turned the game off and returned to reality? :p

    If I juggle 5 balls for an hour...how long am I juggling for? :)
  • lefox271lefox271 Posts: 495Member Intermediate
    Depends on whether you're juggling in the direction of the earth's rotation or against it. Doppler effect.

    that's 40-50 hours playing UWO, not double counting for playing 2 toons at once. I simply play when I get off work, from about 5:30 to 10:30 or so, and then all weekend, plus I occasionally take vacation days, so that's a full day to play UWO. It takes some dedication. And the ability to ignore more important stuff, like the roof leaking or my kids wanting quality time.

    I played the CBT in August 2010. OBT started on October and then they just rolled into release without wiping (CBT to OBT was with a wipe).

    The game had lots of players back then, but the map was ridiculously smaller (EU+Carib+Africa+India... and that was it for a long time). Dunno why but the population + small map + no dungeons + no ridiculous ships made the game super enjoyable for me. Or maybe because I just had sooooo many friends that played that I still remember it as the golden age of International UWO.

    As per alpha's and stuff... yeah, there's a high chance, the game has A LOT of text to translate and I hopped into the CBT because they were already marketing the game, so I have very low doubts that they were earlier test stages before CBT!

    @pieratthe US releases were FF1, FF4, and FF6, labeled as 1-3.
