Making money as a noob

Since every "money making" guide out there relies on selling stuff to other players, I thought it would be helpful to start a post for ideas to actually start making money from nothing. Any ideas are welcome.

Short distance trading can get you a little bit to work with. Buy a specialty good and sail it to an adjacent region for a profit. If you can find 2 adjacent towns in different trade regions it will be faster, like Gijon to Bordeaux, or Montpelier to Marseilles.

Once you get some gear you can run Syracuse dungeon and sell the stuff to the market keeper for Trade EXP and fame.

Challenge missions - Be sure to open all the ones you can. They give free boosters and items that can be sold for ducats or used.

Tradeskills - At r3 cooking you can turn 1 sheep (109d) into 1-2 lamb chops (315d) and then at r5 you can turn the lamb chops into 1-3 sausage (324d). Basically turns 1 sheep into 3 sausage on average. Not a huge profit but you level your trade and your cooking skill at the same time. Most tradeskills have recipes like this that you are guaranteed to make money while you level your skill.

I know there's loads of other ways, so let's hear your ideas! Remember, the more money we can get into the economy, the faster we can develop the cities!
