Some feedback on this transfer- PAPAYA please Read

Hi,

Its very sad to see my old character go. I've just transferred my account to share some of my thoughts.

To be honest, I never thought the new company would reset the server. Its because, from my own corporate days, it seems very much unprofitable to do so. I have no idea how they ran the npv calc on the cashflow projection or how they did the cost-benefit analysis. Anyone with right mind who understands the industry will know that its almost impossible to maintain positive cash-flow the way they are executing this. Anyways that's not for me to decide, I just hope they know what they are doing.

Here are some thoughts that I think both the community and the management should consider

1. The founders reward obviously shows lack of understanding of the game from the management.

Those items are very valuable, we all know this. But they also involve high rank of in-game skills to actually use them. How am i supposed to learn alchemy when i don't have the other adventure skills even do those chain quest? How am I supposed to use the shipbuilding materials if Im not R20? Im sure you guys are not dumb enough to waste SB material on a graduation Sambuk.

This is a community-wide worry. I think this signals lack of experience in the management to manage this game properly. You guys should all raise this point, and try to open communication between players and the management so that they don't make choices like this this over and over again.

2. Content consumption stage is different for everyone

This game has a massive amount of content to be consumed. Its the beauty of the game, and a main appealing point for our player target market. People around our age like this type of slow progression and sense of achievement filled tasks. The problem is, you cannot disrespect where they are in the game.

New players have their school content, and Mid level players have the stories and other build-up contents like sea permits and charting. The end game users await for new updates while looking back to contents they have missed during their journey. If you don't respect this, the gamer towards the mid game end will not stick around too much. I personally don't want to go back and re-do all the content I consumed in the past.

I have already gotten my fun and excitement from charting the world and finishing school. I'm looking forward to new updates that happened in the Korean server or Japanese server. I was excited to build a Claremont and go to Boston for the new research facility. By not respecting the player's stage of content maturity, this game won't be able to retain much of the customer base that it had a week ago. I hope Papaya play's financial team go back to their model and change a lot of their assumptions, because whatever they calculated, its an overestimation. If they want to keep their assumption, they better figure out a watch to match each player's stage at the game same to Last month.

3. The trust issue is big in business

I will be honest here. I have been looking ways to leave GAMA server and into the Korean server because despite their questionable management, players there have a big belief that the game will go on (The treasure box there is very profitable, and therefore Netmarble does not intend to stop servicing, I heard it from an actual employee there). Looking at how the transfer is going so far, I am starting believe that the company will have a going concern issue.

I'm unsure how they will have positive cashflow given the diminishing population already, but the main issue is the lost of trust. Looking to how this went past 2 weeks, this company has already been associated with backstabbing and untrustworthy. Lack of communication doesn't help either. When i heard the server wipe, the first thing I thought of was the fact that this could happen again anytime. I spend months playing and getting myself progressed into the game, and they shutdown with few days notice. So if you had the choice (and spoke the language), do you want to be in korean server or here? i think its a pretty easy decision.

4. The issue they are trying to remedy is an ever repeating cycle

Now i know this is debatable, and I'm open to more opinions. It seems that there is an argument Papaya did this to fix what was broken in the game. First off, its not fixable. If any of you studied modern day economics, you will know what I am talking about. Market is never perfect. It will never be perfect, we ourselves don't live in a stable global economy - how do you plan to make things stable in a game? We can't do it in real life.

If a government wishes to influence a behavior in a market for a reason (lets say a fix to an issue) they implement a policy to steer the market in a certain way. You don't go reset the market by turning off the TSX or DOWJONES. It causes chaos and takes a long time to remedy itself. Look at the few years after the Lehman brother crisis. You will all agree.

But most importantly, a company exists to make profit. This company's main intention is not to fix things, they are doing what is most profitable to them. Please don't be fooled by such claims. They need profit first to survive, and they will do things which will let them. Remember this when dealing with management. They all not 100% on user's side.

5.Steam and Facebook

No mention of Steam and Facebook. This just further killed the existing player base. You may argue that people had done 2-client plays. You are right, I was one of them, but losing my main account (steam) certainly does not compel me to stay longer. Also, I knew people from my own comp who did 1 client play through steam. Consider them lost. Oh ya, I'm getting more doubts about their ability to manage.

To finish, I think this new company is at its infancy. I hope they do a good job and get this great game going on. But now they are not doing a good job at the moment. It is up to whatever left of the player base to reach out to them, and Papaya to respond in a timely and appropriate manners. Please look to the veterans who say they will leave - they have a reason for claiming what they want to do. Reach out to them and hear them out. Papaya team has the final say management decision anyways. Listen to those who love and are attached to the game and learn something from them. It can only help you move forward. Staying silent can only make things worse.

PS. Thanks everyone for making my UWO experience great!! I had a lot of fun through my giveaways and events at the school! Everyone (well mostly everyone....) was very nice and great to approach. Many had interesting opinions about different topics and I enjoyed (even the PP filled non-sense at Merch chat) many engagements throughout. If I find a way to reach the korean server properly, I will probably leave this server for good. Hopefully Papaya makes some drastic changes to their approach which can compel me to stay! :o Meh but i doubt it XD  Good luck in the new server and continue having fun!!! :D

Sincerly, your GF
