Venetians

General Discussion
Hi all!
As I could see so far,not many people is interested in starting as venetian(only Laviol so far :) ).My old company was Jadrolinija with mostly venetian members,so i would like to hear if any of them is coming back.A lot of work is ahead of us and few venetians will have imposible job ahead of them.I will start again as venetian even if I will be only one in the game,I am always on a side of weak

    Seems like you would be at a real disadvantage starting in Venice. Even Marseille would be more convenient to Seville, London and the Caribbean than Venice. Why would someone want to start there, other than novelty or sentimental reasons?

    well I hope to actually be the first person to have the fame to unlock those other port permits using the Chicken Pluck method of raising my fame very early. Venice is the best place for this. also we start out with the most access to Rowing ships IIRC. also Venice is just COOL.

    Besides we need their ports developed with the new server so people can actually use them..

    The venetian galleass is definitely a cool ship. but for that I don't know about being tucked away up there so far away from the action.

    Venice has the only Industrial city with lumber/ iron/ steel. perfect for MCCT/LCCT making, once we get that far.

    Also, the starting position of Vencie is not nearly as bad as some people think.

    It is not a great port if you want to sail your filled Galleon there, but you don't have to.
    You have access to some nice trade goods (i.e. that one dye in Ragusa) and Venice often has an advantage in influencing the eastern med. -which gives us balkan and greece goods.

    Adventures are completly independant of their nation since the quests are port dependant and ignore your ships flag.

    Maritimer.. similiar - I think- but I lack the experience about that.

    The other thing that is mentioned most often are the Imps. You need to sail back to Venice -which can be a hassle but like I said it is not that much slower than the other cities and you can just logout+tow if you hate it too much.
    The two ones that start there are slightly different. Eastcoast America is a pain no way around it.
    The Suez Canal however is different, the only city that can grind this quests quicker is Marsailles.

    So, long story short, people overestimate the disadvantages of Venice way too much.
    It is only really annoying for the first school (slow ship and bound to the area) and when it comes to unlocking EA Coast.

    Venice,like all other countries do have pluses and minuses.It is in disandvantage at start(Oxford,not much venetians)but later it will be fine.Feather plucking is very easy in Venice,great for early fame and ducats.Also very easy to grind some PO's with merchant guild quests(Venice-Ragusa).Great goods in cities nearby(wine,lumber,tuna),Athens,Beirut with their good combination of goods.I am adventurer and that area is great to do adv quests

    Venice is not very well located and does not really have the stuff to grind casting and stuff like that :)

    I will 100% disagree with that, I actually refined my casting from R1+5(2 refine, 1 job, 2 items) to R16+5
    all in The Venetian area. Cattaro once it is open will change your mind huge.

    I am Serb and lived in a country that no longer exist(Yugoslavia).I love Adriatic sea and Venice will always be my choice.
    Before the wipe I was doing very well as Venetian,overcoming it's disandvantages and using it's advantages as much as possible.
    Look how beautifull Venice flag is,red with gold lion on it :)

    Well, honestly I hate sailing the Adriatic on the way up lol. It's pretty much a deal breaker for me as a starting point. That being said, it did become rather a ghost town and do very much hope it gets more lively and active this time around. Just not sure that I want to start there. I usually go Portuguese lol. So best of luck and much respect to all who will chose to start in Venice. It's a lovely city and it is long deserving of attention!
