I'm planning on going early to get the +1 sewing Bamboo Broom. It's R4 Search at the Land Area south of Benghazi. I always go to the animal bones for it.

I'm gonna rank my search skill getting Expert Fishing Gear first (Oslo).

Saw and hammer for handi/casting both available in Med - but I always found they needed higher skill.

England is good start place for both sewing and handi.

    sorry sewing and casting

  • aceman39aceman39 Posts: 943Member Intermediate
What is a good place to start doing sewing casting and handi all at the same time?
  • lefox271lefox271 Posts: 495Member Intermediate
I'm planning to do all 3 from London - but not simultaneously. I was artificer before and want to get it back.

One of the most useful books - Complete Seasoning - is only available in Palma though.

My order is cooking to mid level, fishing/storage to mid level, then start crafting. But I've not planned yet how I'll do the crafting.

Staff functions book is also a useful one - from Athens. at R6 you can make request inv books - very useful.

Lol - I had all those books once. I had all the handi jewel cutting books. Used to go to Bergen or Ceylon (best) and collect ores -->jewels, then go back to London with a whole cargo. Most of those jewels are speciality goods.

I reckon handi is the best skill to have - my fav.

I had a lot of the sewing books even ones that was drops and was working to try and get the one from the Nanban countries now I have to start all over

I hated the India part of the sewing grind - but it's probably one of the most lucrative especially when you're making velvet.
  • aceman39aceman39 Posts: 943Member Intermediate
I made velvet there and sold it to the market for a profit and made over 1K XP at a time so it was cool just felt like it was my home for a week

Is it possible to complete a quest that requires say Search R3 or Unlock R3 when you only have R2? I seem to remember being able to unlock in a quest that was one rank above my level?

Yeah I remember doing that with unlock on maps - but it takes repeated attempts.

This link will tell you where to buy accessories after you click on skills the scroll down till you see accessories with +1 or +2. I prefer accessories with auto effect that will never decrease durability while sailing.

This link will tell you where to buy trade goods ,but I must warn you that they don't have any infor for newest ports such as 6 Nations factory port, Manchester, Boston, SF, or even Kokkola because it hasn't updated for long time.

You can do any crafting except maybe casting anywhere because West Mediterranean and North Atlantic Ocean have lack of ores or wares to grind casting. East Mediterranean has steels, lumbers, and variety of ores and wares ,but Odessa is only port that has Coal.

Also, you won't able to craft without books like Livestock Secrets- Sheep @Amsterdam, Chickens @Clavi or Ragusa, etc. At least, you once complete one of Intermediate school to get all Europe permits that will allow you to buy books anywhere in Europe.

You can do maps with an Unlock req. up to TWO levels above what you are at.  One level up will take you about 3-5 tries usually.  Two levels up can take 10 or more tries.  Quests require the actual stated Unlock level to complete.  But ... all this may (or may not) change.
Barring that natural expression of villainy which we all have, the man looked honest enough.

The ability to unlock quests and maps with a lower level of Unlock than the quest or map indicates begins to fade at around r5-r6.  You can trigger a trap that causes your entire crew except one brave soul to flee or be killed I forgot which.  And then you are up the creek that starts with an "S".  Be warned.

the +2 is not to unlock quests and maps ,it is simply to open the chest on maps.ie :map has unlock r3,unlock r 1 will work to open the chest

I definitely will get all color jewelry books even though I will have to develop mining @ Diego Garcia fully again. At least, Papaya made it clear that you can play 3 toons/per IP ,so I can claim 7 Diego Garcia, 1 St. Lucia, and 1 Savaii since I have 3 accounts. I still haven't decided on Steam (4th) because I am thinking about uninstall it then will focus on Papaya launchers because of cash shop and other things that will work on Papaya launcher not Steam.

Yes that is true, but more than likely if a map has Unlock6, you won't be able to get by with r4 of Unlock.  And if a map or quest has Unlock10, you can bet your bippy that if you tackle it with Unlock r8 you will be wasting your time and effort.

    @airhaun
Nope is not possile to complete any quest without the exact skill needed, with only languages exception if you have a translation notes, but with skills its the final computed skill, wich means base+job+boost items or leeched

Now about Maps, while those may have need some unlock, you still be able to do them 2 levels lower than required unlock, but it may need couple attempts and also it will hurt your stamina/sailors.

I'm removing the Steam launcher and playing through PP. I'm still not confident I'll get my founder's rewards when it restarts. Sounds like there may be a delay at the very least. But I don't mind I'm going to play whatever.

It's hard to convince anyone of the truth even if you know the truth.  In this case, I believe London/Amsterdam have a true edge.  The truth, however, is that it's possible to craft from anywhere.

+2 ON UNLOCK DOES NOT WORK FOR QUESTS

personally i did all my crafting grinds as a dutch toon.
for handicrafts i started with lumber from oslo- went to bord for making wine and sherry  used that to work management some as well   but oslo again to finish with stone statues.   wares trading is essential for this i was able to go from r10 management to r15 managment in 6 hours  using stone statues only  .
casting amsterdam and england also have an edge  plymouth and dublin  as well as lubeck and hamburg.
sewing - hemp fabrics to start then move up   london has the edge here imo   edinburg  key port for mid rank grinding
cooking  i used pigs until i could make salted fish    famagusta is best port here
storage was ranked outside syracuse   fishing tunas and the occasional marlin and mako
alchemy    -------- is everywhere   good luck
sad face----  i had max refined all productions except alchemy  and i left that one at r13.

    Thanks @crazyhunter2003, @xibwiz, @spiekums

Crazyhunter - Unlock boosters will not work on quests from Mediators?

I remember Olso outskirt has good spot for collect Logs then turn them into Lumbers->Wood Cravings. Yeah, anyone will able to do productions beside maybe Storage as English or Dutch. I was r20 refined HC, one more to mnax out refined casting and sb.
  • LyonesseJosephLyonesseJoseph Posts: 637Member Intermediate
Oh, you can make Salted Fish with Nuts since you can procure berries @Calais Outskirt then buy fish at almost any ports except major ports. However, you will need to buy Secret Caribbean book @ San Juan or invest 300k at Santiago.

@Airhaun I refer to unlock itself. without any boosters on archive maps only you can use for example r1 unlock on  r3 unlock maps but not on r3 unlock mediator quests

London is good for handicrafts, casting and alchemy because it has iron, paper, etc. but Manchester and St. Petersburg are good alternatives. (St. Pete's for paper and Manchester for iron IIRC, Manchester also has lumber).
It's alright, Ma, I'm only bored.
