Sagres... Potential Game Changer?

IF... and it is a big IF Papayaplay decide to launch UWO with the next chapter "Order of the Prince" Part 1 then...

It could be a potential game changer for all of us UWO Newbies :-)

Taken from http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/dol/topics_cms/update/6082.html - courtesy of some kind poster - apologise I forget there name.

"Sagres - There are "training schools" that train voyagers, trading place with basic trade items, items that help play are also sold at cheap restoration items

Furthermore, in this town, you can trade without tariffs regardless of nationality and experience, you can talk with NPC regardless of the acquired language, such as being able to talk with NPC, there are great benefits for outbound navigators, maritime battle quest for maritime experience There are also multiple quests that can earn a lot of adventure experience and fame.

Not only will it be a base for newly-opened navigators, but also for navigators who wish to raise the level of combat and develop skills will be the best place to stop.

I am sure the likes of Guilder/Destry (Very helpful Ivyro posters) et all could throw more light on this subject.

The age looks good but it would be better if you can read it since it is Japanese

You could try asking this over at ivyro, it's easier to post there than it is here. From what I've heard, Sagres would make the early game experience much easier to encourage new game players signing up, but it isn't what's coming next. The Age of Revolution expansion is what's being continued, and even if we go with the next chapter in it, Age of Reason, then Sagres will still be some unknown number of months away. And an improved new game player experience won't help those who've already been negatively affected by a total server wipe, especially with lingering fears that such wipes could happen again under Papaya's leadership.

I like to keep myself up to date on the Japanese server's updates. Sagres does seem interesting, yes. But we won't see it for another 9 months if we keep following the Japanese server's timing, also first assuming Papaya has in fact pushed us forward to Age of Reason.

To clarify, it's too little, far too late.

They are launching with the update Age of Revolution ch3 which is called Age of Reason. Then there are 2 more mini updates before we get to the Order of the Prince update. We've steadily caught up to the other servers regarding updates.

One reason they made Sagres is to bring all the new players together to make it easier to find new friends/a nice company. You will probably still start in your nation's capital. Getting from your home port to Sagres might be difficult for players from Venice for example. In the same update they will lower the fame requirements for getting port permits.

It is not clear if Sagres will have a school that combines the beginner, intermediate and advanced school that we have now. They also say that the tutorials will now show up when you take an action, e.g. a tutorial about sailing when you enter port for example. So the content of the school in Sagres may be different from the current schools. They might discuss new content that was added in past updates, like Oxford college, cultural contribution in the Louvre, etc. or they just give easy quests for new players and provide useful item rewards.

Age of Reason will give us steamboats, Boston Academy, Pet skills, the Himalayas and Baikal Lake land areas, and the Kimberly Mine. Boston Academy works similar to Oxford Uni, Kimberly Mine similar to gold mining near san francisco. Most of these are mid to late game features. For beginning players they will lower some of the quest requirements in the schools (less battles, lower adv skill required) and you will not lose anything during battles when you are under a total level of 20.

Lastly there will be two new jobs: Steam engineer
    Expert skill: Management skill
Favoured skills: Navigation, Arms, Casting, Firearms trading, Wares trading, Mineral trading, Merchandise knowledge, Trap, and Repair
Quest is "Casting workshop administrator troubles" 7 star from Cape Town and requires Navigation r3, Management r5 and Arms r3, and Manchester discovered.
    Levels: 10/40/10, total Lv 80

    Other job: Pet breeder
    Expert skill: Pet training
Favoured skills: Cooking, Storage, Livestock trading, Fishing, Procurement, Collection, Biology, and Ecological research
Quest is "To walk together" 5 star from Marseille and requires Biology r5, Pet training r5 and Dutch language
    Levels: 30/10/0, total Lv 50

Not sure about any fame requirements

Not entirely certain if I'm remembering this correctly, but there are three quests that improve the performance of Clermont, might go read about them again later. I think all this talk of Sagres is a waste of time personally, focus on the current situation and how we can utilise Age of Reason best to rebuild.

Even if they installed free "auto-sail" button to Sagres (which is not a bad idea), i don't think it would become the next Seville (for alt trading).   I think is just a way to add a little bit of a special geographical feature for Portugul.  England has Oxford, Netherlands has Mercator, France has Paris, Venice has Crafts guild, Ottoman is inherently unique and has Ottoman ships to build.  Spain has nothing, but inherently central geographically and to the storyline.. and is "alt city".  Only Portugul had nothing unique to define it besides its nice launching point for ships.

On that note, we should make Lisbon trade capital this time, Seville is fugly.

Tbh, I prefer Seville because it has friendly locations ie archives/palace/bank via square, Marketplace and Administration via commercial while SY isn't that far from harbor. Most important, Tavern is popular for grinding storage and cooking while it sells Marinade Shrimps.

London is just like Seville ,but SY is much closer to Commercial. Also, players can grind Emigrant Baroque till r14 there.

If anyone want to make city as popular site, it has to be Marseilles because all except shipyard are close to gates. Also, players can use carriage for museum and go to Northern Europe.

Honestly I despise Seville's layout, London's being my favourite. Bank, mediators and archives at square port guide, guilds, market, shipyard and comp shop at commercial, tavern at harbour. Marseilles's archives are way too far from a port guide for me.

marseilles is too far from the ocean and  that makes it harder for trading routes, who would bother going there when seville and lisbon are open to the ocean and even london is easier to access.

is interesting seeing Enrique el navegante in game but i am pretty sure the game will not have been updated in the slightness  and even if it was its unlikely we see that particular update for half a year or so.

I hope that they don't pull a Delphin Royale/Bucentaur with Clermont (making them astro-only) because it would be great as a cargo mule for lower levels, and even higher ones since we'll need to, you know, start over.

Thank you @Destry. Did this all come from Papaya?

Does anyone have a link to info on the Age of Revolution content? Only links I can find are from OGP.
  • HeavyWaterHeavyWater Posts: 138Member Trainee
@Airhaun, They said on the playuwo.com page that they will be releasing Age of Reason. The rest is all based on Asia servers. If you want info go to the Japanese update notes. These are the Japanese update notes for Age of Reason:

IMO, Clermont won't be NC ship because there are couple Clermonts are in NC shop @ Korean server. Beside guy @ Manchester would have no reason to be there since he has recipe for that ship.
  • DestryDestry Posts: 40Member Beginner
Yep, the links given by HeavyWater are the ones I used. This is the link to the update page on the Japanese wiki:
or if you don't use Google Chrome:

The update page also has a link to an interview about the order of the prince update, and it has links to the wiki pages where each update is discussed.

    @LyonesseJoseph
I'm aware of that, but they could simply not add the NPC. And why wouldn't it be NC only because there is more than one NC variant of it? There were two NC variants of Bucentaur and it was NC only for us.

First of all a big thank you "LyonesseJoseph" credit where credit due - great find.

I am not stealing your thunder :-) Just hypothesising.

You would of thought... if we are ALL starting from scratch, then it would make sense to make the game easier to start by having the likes of Sagres when we start. Why introduce it 6?,9?,12? months later?

HeavyWater caps it nicely "...too little, far too late"

As aceman39 states the link at the top of the page is in Japanese, but if you use chrome browser for example, you can right click and select translate to English.

With Order of the Prince update there is no more school instead there is Sagres where you can get some easy adv, trade, battle  quest and 1-3* BR for 3-4 area to grind. Some info about game that you got from school is now given by NPC  (bank, market, item, craft) and in harbour when you sail in /out of town.
As far i know there is no more school ships given out but as i finished school before that i am not 100% sure maybe they can be obtained by some other way that i don't know.
