you have to be really bad at this to be unable to sea battle with 2 toons. one melees while the other gives surgery, or gets in position for a bow critical can stop even the best melee battler and a second ship to carry the fleet wide skills allows you to have a better main battleship (this could be done with aide battle ship but that would be generally a waste of exp).
Desire spawns madness, madness collapses into disaster. mankind never learns...
Really bad at this? How about really new. Do you not remember what it was like starting out? Your tone and that you would expect newer players to know this is ignorant and rude.
I admit I'm bad at sea battle when I played 2 or 3 toons. I am kinda wish that they could use that feature from VCO's AFK so that I can concentrate on my main toon.
Edgedemon, Kind of a jerk post you wrote. Airhaun did not even list how many ships he was fighting. I tried it once doing BR out of Genoa and the game threw 4 heavy carracks at me. All 4 of them sailed right at my low level toon and sunk him in seconds. How was my higher level toon supposed to stop 4 ships that had more men and guns than either of my ships had? Next time you might want to think before you post.
It's hard to fight with 2 toons, easier to park one and wait for a shot. The best way to do it is to do battle reports where your admiral can kill all 3 or 4 ships in one pass, like strait of gibraltar or tyrennian sea. Your alt can follow behind and gets kills just like the main ship without doing anything, and will continue following after battle if you sink all the ships pretty fast.
well, 2 Computers might be a bit rough unless they share the same controls. 2 screens would be easier, you can view whats going on on both screens so you know when you have to change, I did run 2 toons in sea battles, but I chose my ships wisely, I placed my ALT in a CSTS so i didn't have to worry about him being Melee'd. this was great cause if my main did get in melee my alt could surg/cannon. 3 toons in Sea battle will be very rough. I may have to see how that works.
Any multi rule is stupid and bad for the game. Who cares if someone wants to play 5 ships at once or 1? Any negatives are balanced out by positives. At the very least the rule of 4 made more sense because, as Roiber said, at least two people using the same IP can play both their main and alt.
There are a TON of families that play/ed this game and if Saul hadn't banned me for calling him out one to many times, I would have had to quit when they put in that 3 rule since the life-partner liked to play her adv toons while I pirated on one toon and watched Seville auctions on another. Hardly over-powered.
my old university had all internal computers go out thru 1 external IP... that would be thousands of people. I imagine the same would go for many students, so they don't want any of them either
oh well, the wipe will kill this game in any case, they just won't retain enough of the old paying player base (but I hope I'm wrong)
Excuse me????? Imaginary friends??? Call me sometime we can straighten that right out in about ten seconds with my wife.
3 per ip was relatively new for alot of us, and I know several roomates and couples that one quit playing because of it, including my wife, Caddy's wife, and one side of several other couples, not to mention several roommates of people just in our company alone every time they tried to get the other half interested in playing. Hell, we even had two guys who had their kids trying to play.
This is nothing new, I have made the 4 per ip suggestion since the day they implemented the 3 per ip . It is hardship if you want to have the people closest to you enjoy the same game you do.
WTF do you want my wife to do? go rent an apartment somewhere just to play??? Dont be an idiot, just because you live alone or in mom's basement doesnt mean the rest of us don't have friends, roomates, or spouses, kids, etc who would like to play the game on equal terms with us.
Just because you don't have friends and family don't imply that others do not.
I'm supposing i'm one of those no life neckbeards.
No no, it's me, my wife and our 3 children.
No no, that was my brother on my account yesterday
No no, my account must have been hacked i'd never do that.
I was a guide in a big mmo (like a ca in uwo) for 5 years and I've heard all kinds of excuses. One person told me he was training the zone lines with mobs because his wife died yesterday and it was her last wish for old times, and another who told me he was a sex addict and scamming people helped control the urges.
The unfortunate things about all the idiots in the world is that they force rules that hurt real people with real situations. A couple playing can't both play alts. A real family, and there will be real families, can't play together. I feel bad for noobness, and i hope he gets a pass to play with everyone, and i hope to god if he does he doesn't freaking tell a gosh dang soul in game about it because then that will become the multi excuse and the cheaters poster boy.
For those who question about families, My husband and I are 45, and 44 our daughters are 17 and 20. Up Until the oldest went to Uni this september we all lived in the same house and could not all play together. So yes there are families of 4 that live together and wanted to play together but because of this rule can't.
I get why it was imposed, there were many multi boxers in the early NM days. But there should be some kind of flagging option that would allow WITH proof 4 on a single IP. How would they do that... damned if I know. I do hope Papaya looks into it as it'd be nice when were are all here together we could actually all play, but until then we have STO and DDO which do not limits us.

For me I had them both on the same computer so took a few seconds to switch between the 2.
Couldn’t be bothered doing battles that way.
If someone runs 2 pc’s side by side then it would be easy.
But not of this comes down to being good or bad at the game.
