The Price of Piracy

    i love how all the pirates on here say the people who don't want to be pirated are whiners. but in fact they are the biggest bunch of cry babies i have ever seen. it was fine for you to sit at a port waiting for some clipper or other type ship you knowingly could beat in a fight. but soon as a war ship shows up poof pirates hides like a B**** in port. funny how you can attack a mostly helpless ship but soon as its a fair fight its impossible for you too engage with them unless its a mock battle or ESF. piracy got nerfed because of A******e's who found only enjoyment in destroying someone else's game play. it got nerfed because most of this game isn't about pirates. but they seem to think its all about them :) . and they should be able to do what ever they want when they want.

    i'll say this now if i get attacked by a pirate and they bring back item plunder and i lose something that's hard to find or obtain. you can bet i'll pay BH's to ruthlessly attack and kill said pirate each day. until he gets tired of never being able to leave port and quits.

    personally i hate pvp period. never liked it in this game or any other. having said that my trade goods you are welcome to. i have no issue, my ducketts have them to. its when i start loosing items that i have grinded hard to get that are central to me enjoying play of my game that i get pissed. durability wear is bad enough. and npc piracy IS different from pc pirates. they are not the same thing remotely. if the same items worked on both then i'd have less issues. which if it was the same they would. so call me whinny but its your play ruining my play not the other way around. as for pve pirating it sounds like fun hitting the flagged, convoys, looting them. getting attacked by flagged patrols. could be cool. but pvp. nope not for me. i don't see a need for it and i don't see how pvp improves the game. i'd be all for one of 2 options when you make your character you can be pvp or pve and can't change it. or 2 different servers where one is pve and one unlimited pvp. to me the first is the best option a permanent opting in or out of pvp. you can be attacked or attack another player. and make it permanent so people don't take advantage of it. then everyone get to be happy and play the type of game they want to play.

    Many of you guys miss one thing.

    Server wiped.
    No trading skills to craft tributes.
    No sources of PO to train skills. Port hop for 6 jewellery when you need 120 to craft just 1 tribute? Very interesting and thrilling gameplay.

    @Centex
    Pirates in this game dont give a damn about traders. Why bother sailing somewhere patrolling trade routes when you can camp major adventuring locations hunting easy prey? I dont mind trade being risky but no they have to mess with adventurers. Calicut was pirate capital long after it lost its trading value, up until pirate nerfs.

    here is a fact NO rowing ship could ever in the history of the world catch a sailing ship period. so if they want to make the game " more real " then put in game mechanics that makes this happen. not a 320 crew 90 foot long rowing ship chase down a clipper would never happen. maybe and i said maybe if you was only going in a straight line and there wasn't a lot of wind. but to turn on the dime like a LLM or SNG can is asinine. big rowing ships were slow in fact to damn slow when starting up it probably took them a good 1/4 mile to get even close to top speed so how the hell could any of them catch a sailing ship.

    @Kimche Have a mindset that you are NOT a PvPer, you are
    a pirate.
      You’re not out to win, you’re
    out to get the weakest of the weaks.
      Don’t
    confuse PvP with Piracy, PvP is to win against battleships, piracy is to win
    against very weak ships, and ships that usually don’t have a chance to fight
    back.

    This is sooo true. When i first started the game i did trade, but it was because of pirate attacks that got me to go into maritime heavy to protect myself. By the end of OG i had become a successful BH, but the problem i found was that pirates all wanted to avoid pvp against me when i would attack them and just run away (most of them anyways). The only was i was able to even fight them was in ESF/BC/Mocks but you don't get any honour for sinking them there. The best was when they would attack me thinking i was a easy target only to find out that i easily turned the tables on them >:D

    Pirates are usually compensating peasants with small wieners, 70% of them are bottom feeders IRL and end up as Walmart greeters. Their favorite skill is Penetration since it reminds them of their childhood at uncle Bob's house... (it's just basic Freud!)
    As humanoids with damaged neurons inside their toter Kopf, (in much need of  R15 repair), in the yearly days of Netmarble some seemed to be attracted to a particular item called Tempyo Japanese Incense, it had a typo on the last word that possible reminded them of nostalgic family picnics by the river.
    (The other 30% are actually pretty cool people graced with an acute sense of humour)

    Do you want reality?))) Then, when attacking any player from the pirate, when he changes color to yellow / red, the flag changes to "Jolly Roger", and they lose their belonging to some state with all the ensuing consequences. Let him not be able to enter any ports for trade, and in return they need to be allowed to attack any ports outside Europe, except the national ones in the Caribbean. They can trade only with ports such as Nassau and Jolo. All the things that they take away automatically become "pirate" with the Noto requirement and can not be used by non-combatants. Then any attack on the players for them will be fair.

    @adelinaKaz  well be realistic, u think if i do happen to catch you, you think ur going to be able to sail after in ur ship? lol u'd be with the fishes and i'd have 2 ships :D

    @purplepirate lol after the nerfs why would a pirate even think of fighting with a hunter.  what are hunters supposed to have tradegoods?  you know the only thing we were allowed to plunder?  so why would we possibly engage in a fight that at no point will be profitable?  Now with item plunder returning many of those pirates me included u seen run away at the site of a hunter will no longer run.  I want ur gear :D

    @Donny, that's exactly what ur supposed to do if u can't defend urself, is use the wealth u gained as trader/adv and pay a hunter to get ur revenge.

    Now we can always turn around and grind mari and trade and hope we could get lucky against a pirate but I wouldn't hold my breath on us getting lucky :D

    @ Pie, that sounds okay.  But I do not think that was my point.  I think my point was to say that being a pirate is not exactly "woe is me" as many says it was.  I am merely trying to say that being a pirate is a luxury of the game.  Which, I think, is good for both pirates and the game.

    I can see from other players' point of view, especially for item plundering, losing such a thing will be devastating.  I do agree that Improved Hold needs to be modified, but I don't think item plundering, at least the free for all range, should be put back.

    The price of piracy is the topic, and I think the price of being a pirate, and the prestige that comes with that Orange/Red name, is that you need to be able to sustain yourself other than just pure pirating.  The price of piracy is also to police other griefing pirates so that, as a game, and as a player (not as a toon), you can be respected.  There is a space in being a pirate toon that is feared in the sea, but at the same time not be hated as a player.  I think that's pirate's price.

    @pieratthe

    if I were you, I would not be so self-assured. And before you were pirates, I got along with them, and with you. If you carefully read what I wrote, then there was no proposal to select the ship from the loser. If you are touched by the "realistic", then in this case you would not be allowed to swim up to me and hang on the first yard, and I stayed with my ship.
