BlackShot 10th Anniversary Commemorative Tournament - Review

Dear Community,

as a lot of you have already recognized - we got a great new tournament announced to celebrat BlackShots 10th Anniversary.
In case you haven't seen it CLICK ME

Insane prices and great general rule-setup with the BP-Weapon restriction etc.
Yet I'd like to adress a few issues / points which I've recognized and would love to hear the community opinion / get a reply from the Tournament-Staff.

So lets ge started with a pretty simple one:

  • Why isn't the M1A Socom (BP-Version) cleary banned?
In my opinion this weapon is as powerfull as the Desert Tech DT MDR. Of course you mentioned that only the Weapons avaible in the shop are allowed, yet you cleary disallow the use of for example the ultimax, while this weapon isn't in the shop anymore.
I would like to see this weapon specifically banned aswell, to avoid any confusion.

  • All Mastery Weapons are forbidden
Short and understandable. Every weapon, knife or nade, which can be obtained threw mastery is forbidden.
Does this also include items such as scope or silencer? Would like this to get verified a bit clearly - as I expect them to be allowed

  • If a GM asks you to record your match you will have to do so and send us the video by support ticket in the next 24h after the match under the penalty of being disqualified
Quiet honestly, this one bugs me a lot. As much as I can understand that the Tournament-Stuff wants to grant a fair and clear tournament, this simply does transfer the burden to the participants itself. At an significant cost, since lagging still and always has caused a huge lag on "basic / non gamer pcs" due to the fact that Blackshot still doesn't utilize multi-cores.
I can vividly remember that this rules has been getting a huge backlash ever since it got introduced / also got taken out once.
Of course I, for myself, can see the point regarding this, yet the burden of proof shouldn't be transfered to the participants in the first place, since Vertigo is responsible for making sure that the Anti-Hack-System works properly.
Furthermore - as far as I can understand the GM, which overwatches the match, decides if I have to record based on his/her personal impression, right?
This is a huge problem IMO. While not saying that GMs aren't as good in the game as certain other people, yet they obviously aren't as good as the top-clans in the game - so their impressioned might be fooled / be wrongfully. Thats just my thought to it.
Also, if somebody has a problem with the GM overwatching the game (personal history etc.) - are we allowed to request another GM? Since due to recording demands - the game can be hughly influenced.

  • The BlackShot Team will revise all entries and announce the selected 16 Clans and matches schedule on 15/11/17 giving priority to the top clans of the current Clan Wars Season; // We will only accept registrations from already existing clans and that are on the overall ranking of the last Clan War Season;

This schocked me the most to be honest. The GM-Team / Vertigo isn't able 'till this day to drop the rewards for the last monthly season + the free goldbox pull reward is still not working, yet you expect clans to play clanwar. The participants in clanwar have cleary declined since those issue haven't been tackeld / publicly discussed talked about. Yet, being in the clan war season ranking becomes a huge factor in this cup.
Seems very sad to me / huge lack of communication, since there was never stated that being active in the clanwar server makes you get any favourable treatment during cup-registrations.

Well, these are only my 2 cents and I'm looking forward to the cup.

    Hello Trigger,

First of all thanks for your feedback.

With this being said, I will try to follow up as best as I can on the subjects that you mentioned:

''Why isn't the M1A Socom (BP-Version) cleary banned?''
It is, as the rules clearly mention, only BP weapons that are currently for sale on the Shop and the M1 is not one of them.

    ''All Mastery Weapons are forbidden''
Scopes and silencers are not mentioned and therefore allowed.

''If a GM asks you to record your match''

Yes we will apply this rule that was suggested by players, widely used by several players on independent tournaments and already applied successfully on previous tournaments.

Concerning the performance issues that you mention, If we do ask it will be both teams and not only a specific one to assure that everyone is on the same level. Also concerning this issue, there are several applications that allow to record with almost no performance lost and its a matter of the participants to test before to assure that they find the best one that suits their Hardware capabilities.

''If a GM asks you to record your match''

Concerning the ''overwatch'' of the matches, it will be done and managed as usual by the GM Team that are without any question the most capable and experienced people do so. Possible ''personal issues'' have nothing to do with the tournament or professionalism.

''The BlackShot Team will revise all entries and announce the selected 16 Clans''

Both issues you mentioned are already being worked on and one of our top priorities even though they are not directly related with the tournament.

This is a Clans Tournament and not a Teams one. Following this concept, we have to without any question give priority to the current active BlackShot Clans that maintain the Clan Server active everyday. Not only that but also another measure to promote the fairplay and competition on the Clan Servers.

    Good luck for the Tournament!

    Regards, DSH-DIABO

    Hello Diabo,

thanks a lot for your detailed reply.
Here are my thoughts regarding your Replys:

''Why isn't the M1A Socom (BP-Version) cleary banned?''

Of course understandable as it is. Just requires the "viewer" to read the rules very carefully.
Yet, not everybody might speak english as good as you or I do, so some detailed listing of "forbidden" BP-Weapon might have been appropriate. Yet, I can only speak of personal expierence / what happend to member of the clan I'm in and a bunch of clanmember misread/skipped this rule ala "only bp, k thx bye". And your reasoning is completely understandable as mentioned before.

    ''All Mastery Weapons are forbidden''

    Same answer here.

''If a GM asks you to record your match''

It is good to hear that, if a record gets requested by the overwatching GM, everybody in the room has to record! This indeed does make this whole rule a lot more fair for everybody.
So of course my point regarding "personal issues / gms can influence the game" are not relevant at all, since they are directly tied to each other and shouldn't be viewed as diffrent points from my previous text (might have done a wrong way of expressing myself, doe).

The performance issue is still nothing to take lightly to be honest. You do know as much as I do that it got proofen often enough by several community members in the past, that the "minimum requirements of hardware" to play this game does not let you also record at the same time.
In addition, even hardware which should be able to handle it, still heavily reduces performances due to the mutli-core issue.
Expecting each and every participant to get to know potential programs, shouldn't be done at all by the administrative side!
Since not everybody is as skilled witch pc / technical stuff as some other people might be.
I would have atleast loved to see some Tips / Tutorials from the administrative side to make stuff easier for the community.

''The BlackShot Team will revise all entries and announce the selected 16 Clans''

I do understand that this is a clan tournament. Yet, we can keep on argueing that the lack of communication / fixing of mentioned issue, which you guys work on, have cleary hit the clanwar server hard.
Since these are the things, which should have made clanwar more attractive again.
So making a clantournament with such restriction now is an odd move IMO.
Besides that, its the 10th anniversary of blackshot and every user/clan should be able to have the chance to celebrate together on every event, don't you think?
Yet, this is also just my opinion.

Thanks a lot for your good luck wishes, I hope we made it through the resrictions.

    Best Regards
    Trigger
