Our Progress Thus Far...

Hello everyone!

Well, it has been an interesting couple of weeks, hasn't it? UWO has been quite the busy place. Not as busy as NM days maybe, but still it's nice to see it bustling with activity.

I know there are still many complaints from people, and I understand that. Here though, I'd like to focus more on what we have accomplished so far in the game. I would prefer to keep this on a positive tone please! There are plenty of topics elsewhere about all the complaints. So, for me personally, I'm not as far along as I'd like to be, but that's mostly due to the fact that I don't have as much free time to play the game as I did some 7 yrs ago lol.

So here's what I've done in the last couple of weeks:

* Finished all 3 Trade schools (Yay!)
* Finished 1st & 2nd Battle schools (I hate sea battles with a blood passion!)
* Haven't even started Adventure School at all yet! (Shame on me, really!)
* Been focusing on grinding Cooking skill, currently at r7+1 (yay, but wish it was higher lol)
* Been working on the Portu Storyline, though not as much as I should. I'm on Chapter 8 lol
* Been trying to remember to continue working on Oxford stuff (I forget this often!)
* My lvls are currently 11/23/7 or something like that, can't remember off the top of my head lol.
* Have seen some old friends, and REALLY old friends from NM days.
* Have made some new friends. People are funny, creepy, crazy but all kinds of fun!

So, as you can see, I haven't done nearly as much as many other people have done lol. I get distracted easily and like I said, I don't get as much free time to play as I'd like to, so I really should be a little more organized about what game time I do have lol.

Things I'd like to get at least started in the next couple of weeks:

* Unlock India (No, I haven't unlocked India yet, shush!)
* Start grinding handycrafts
* Consider joining a company (I've stayed away from that for now, but I know eventually I will join one lol)

So, that's me for that last two weeks and the next two weeks. How about you? How far have you come along in the last two weeks?

Safe and fun sailing to everyone!

I've got two characters up and running, one who I'm developing as a trader (IGN Ten Hex) and one who is a producer (IGN Egregious-Yapp or EG). They are 25/20/21 and 25/22/21 respectively.

They both reached R10 Storage the day before yesterday after some intensive Tuna fishing off Madiera.

I've also started a web site in which I'm recording our progress. It's kind of aimed at helping beginners. But I also keep a Captain's log - just telling the story of what we do together as it happens. Telling the story is as much fun as actually playing the game. In the story I'm EG and Ten is my business partner.

I didn't get my founder's Rewards 'til after the restart - so I carried on without them and they're sitting untouched in the bank. I found I didn't really need them to enjoy the game.

So - we're both R13 Fishers now. Ten is R6 food/ livestock trader. EG is R7 cook and has just started casting/ sewing/ and handi.

We dug up our own Expert Fishing Gear (R3 Search at Oslo) and Ten found a Bamboo Broom (R4 Search nr. Benghazi).

We've both done about 30+ Oxford theses. We've both graduated all Schools in all subjects. Yesterday we started doing some port investment (using the 10mil cheque which is an in-game reward for reaching 50 levels).

Plans for the future? We need to be self-sufficient in vig food and working as a team we need fleet food which means Tuna-olive steak, so R10 Cooking is a medium term objective. But today I think we'll do some work on Handi - 'cos it's my favourite skill.

    Happy Sailing.

Nice Topic, was thinking to launch that question too soon. But since you already did...
    Well, my turn...

First of all, it sometimes hurts me too to see that I cannot hold up with some of you guys since I have the knowledge but no longer the time to play intensively. I became a young father recently and beside an already busy life, it eats tons of time of mine... But the love for my little baby girl is waaaay to big tough!

So, I hereby officially excuse myself for my low efforts on helping the server development. Let me share you my tiny personal progress. Wish I could help / do more to unlock and develop things...

So what have I achieved this far:
I have 2 toons now, both finished all 3 final schools: lvls: 21-21-17 and 21-17-21
Atm I have started charting to eventually unlock St. Peters. to get Aide Sarah.
Thereafter I will go get aide Chester for my sec. toon in SW-Africa.
Meanwhile I keep investing everywhere I can to unlock and obtain specific items.
I have achieved Lower 8th knight and have 6 port permits unlocked.
I am planning to go to our colony one of these days to help its progress.
I have joined a company in London (RoyalNavy) with most of my elder company members. But it is not the original Royal_Navy from NM era. For now we are going to stick with them.

My future plans on short range are to grind lvls in Sewing and Cooking with my first toon and SB and Crafting arms with my second.
As soon as I feel ready for it (and when I find the time to do so) I will start sailing towards Caribs and Asia for some decent trade-runs and helping the comp to collect contributions.

    Flo!

I'm definitely in the slow progress category.

My first toon is at 18/24/13, Dutch, and focusing on trade, Cooking (r7) and Sewing (r6).  I made it through all three trade schools, and beginner and intermediate on adventure and battle.  I decided to take a risk, and ran him down to St. Lucia for a private farm before I'd unlocked anything but the basic area around Europe, which is a pretty good block of adventure experience, since it doesn't count landing at your farm as coming in to a port.

My Spaniard is at 16/15/4, and mostly focusing on adventure, with handicrafts (r4) and casting (r0) for production skills.  I'd forgotten how much of an earning power advantage the Dutch have with sewing:  a level in sewing earned me 100-200k, I think, whereas a level in handicrafts is earning me about 20-30k.  That'll change as my levels go up, but it does make starting out rough.  I'm planning on focusing almost exclusively on Adventure with this one, though, so I'm going to have to get used to being poor. 8-)  I'm also considering a run to Diego Garcia despite not even having the West Africa permits.  I'm not convinced I could do it without being caught by pirates, though, so maybe not.

I've basically been ignoring the national quests so far, planning to finish at least two schools before I bother with them.  It doesn't seem to be affecting much other than what port permits I have.
