You should have set up your goal.

    1. Get aide asap then give him/her ship that will help your trading because of more cargo.

    2. decide what kind of productions do you plan to get.

Hint: don't try to get all skills because you will have inventory issues especially with those books.

    3. Take immigrant quests because they will pay you good amount of ducats ,but you won't get good exp/fame.

    4. Claim private farm asap

I recommend you to sail farthest away from port that you buy trade goods then sell them there.

    For beginner players

Whiskey, Sherry, or any Europe alcohols to Arguin then buy Coffee or whatever you want if Coffee hasn't unlock.

Furs from Oslo and Copenhagen to Beirut then buy Cotton Fabrics and Damask Fabrics from Beirut then sail back to sell them there.

When you get aide ship, it's time for you to do production skills.

    Casting

    1. Buy Shipwright's Basic Casting at Plymouth, Syracuse, Porto, etc then grind carpenter's tools between Oslo and Bergen till r3.

    2. Buy Firearms book at Barcelona or Ceuta then buy Metal Smelting at Lubeck. Then you can grind from r3 to r12

From now on, you need to collect White Ores at Newfoundland North Coast ,but you need colony with lumbers and iron so that you can grind them to r15 while you sell MCCT for 30-45k. I recommend you to put MCCT at your co shop.

    Handicrafts

    1. Cattaro has both lumbers and irons ,so you can buy Making extra wood armouring at any Nation starters craftshop then grind till r3 with Cedar.

    2. Buy Brewery Secret at Hamburg or Cagliari then grind till r7 at Ragusa Tavern by using Barkeeper's recipes while you can keep grinding hulls.

    3. Buy Brewery Secrets 2 at Havana or Montepelier if u're French player then grind Red Wine Vinegar then Sherry till r10. I recommend you to sell Sherry at British Isles, Netherland, or Germay ports.

    4. Buy Historical Craft Guide but need to invest Cairo for 400k. Then grind Stone Sculptures till r12 between Oslo and Bergen. Right now, Bergen needs more development to unlock Stones.

    5. You can grind Marble Sculptures between Athens/Salonika and Beirut till r15. Btw, Marble Sculptures are great for Nanban.

Finally, you will need to collect Vegetable Oil or turn grass into Vegetable Oil at Athens Northwest then buy Parchment at Athens to make Oil Paintings.

Speaking of private farms, you should buy Jewelry Cut- Color ores if you plan to claim Diego Garcia or Savaii because you make a ton of ducats with those books.

Sure no one likes sewing lol joking

LOL But I will give it try along with cooking and storage.

    Sewing

    Buy

Fabric Secret- Fine Cloth at Nation Starters

Fabric Secret- Cloth at Genoa, Groningen, Plymouth, etc

    Fabric Secret-Hardware at Nation Starters

If you're one of Southern Europe Nation players, I'd recommend you to do feathers.

Gijon and Porto for Spanish and Portuguese players

Zadar and Ancona for Venetian players

Montpelier and Sassari for French players

Although Montpelier is only port that has ducks, you can buy sheep then convert them into wool->anything depend on your sewing ranking.

Helder and Edinburg are best route for Dutch and English players.

Remember keep crafting higher rank trade goods till r10 with those books.

Then you will start to make sails ,so you can buy Multiple Studding Sails at Nation Starters. You should grind them till r16. However, you need to make room in your inventory before you do that.

IIRC, Sewing is very slow to grind but not bad as SB or Rowing, though. Oh, you will able to sell Large Gaff, Large Latin, Large Square, and some best sails.

    Cooking

    Buy

    Livestock Secret- Sheep at Amsterdam
Livestock Secret- Poultry at Calvi or Ragusa
    Livestock Secret- Cattle at Nantes
    Livestock Secret- Pigs at Porto
Simple Recipe at Bordeaux and Palma

Cooking is perfect for beginners since you can make nice ducats.

Keep grinding Flour till r3 then you can do craft anything with those. Once you hit r5, it's time for you to buy stack of Mysterious Spices (London needs chrono title 15.5-16.3 and Lisbon 15.5-16.2).

East Mediterranean Cuisine- Famagusta (need 1m to invest)
Chef's Meat Dishes- Copenhagen (need 600k to invest)
    Seafarer's Seafood- Lisbon
    Secret Caribbean Cuisine- San Juan
Andes special cuisine collection- Lima (need 2m to invest)
Traditional dishes of S/C America- Rio de Janeiro and Bahia (need 500k to invest)
    Reowned Patissier's recipe book

Those books will get you to r16 while you can sell Salted Fish with nuts, Tuna Olive Steak, etc.

    Storage

    Buy

Procurement skill aka Fisher, Biologist, or any jobs that favor it.

Traveller's Food- Benghazi or Salonika (need 320k to invest)

Fisherman Arts- Nation Starter or get it from Instructor Gregory

Mogul's Memior- Veracruz (need 1m to invest) and need Account, Biology r5, and Appraisal r5.

Get Field Activites 1 and 2 then equip them

Obviously, players would go with fisherman's arts ,but travelling food is great for grinding storage.

You can procure berries at West Famagusta (tree at middle of map) or North America Southeast Coast (Shack due to west of entrance) then you can convert them into dried strawberries, prunes, etc. Also, you can cook for Salted Fish w/nuts, Grilled Lamb with Lime, or other vig foods.

When your procurement hit r7, you will able to procure Exotic Fruits at NA Southeast Coast (Shack- same location) till r14 while you convert them into chillies and others.

Then fishing Mako Shark or Marlin aka Swordfish then convert them into fish foods till r16.

    Swordfish- 600/3300

Mako Shark- middle of triangle islands (south of Syracuse) or Portobelo
