TheCollective = Scammers

CaptRazorCaptRazor Posts: 8Member Beginner
  1. I bought a ship at an aide's shop for 100k.
  2. The ship was an expedition tea clipper.
  3. I was asking about it in school chat.
  4. Then the Director of the London based Company (TheCollective) said I should return it to the other player.
  5. Suddenly I got a PM from someone else asking if I just bought a ship.
  6. At the same time, the company leader of TheCollective said that I should give the ship back to the original owner...
  7. The person who contacted me in PM said they knew who's ship it was and that I should give it to them so they can return it...
  8. I asked what the name of the Captain is that the aide shop said they belong to.
  9. Neither the Director of the company nor the person who was claiming to be the seller's friend would answer (they did not know)
  10. The person who sent me the PM, asked if I was the director's alt trying to get them into trouble.

So this Director of TheCollective in London and one of his company members tried very hard to scam someone else. I took screen shots of the conversations between them and I. I am sending those screen shots to support so that support can look into the server chat logs and verify that these people did try to scam me. Once they have checked the server logs, I hope they take action against the others (according to the rules) and disband the company which their leader runs.

All this topic is for, is to warn others that TheCollective and it's leadership tries to scam and they lie about it.

Their days are numbered and the proof is going to papaya to verify.

Sounds like you got a hell of a deal on the ship.
Those typically have been selling for 1.5-2.5 billion.
Were the others just asking you to return the ship out of good faith since the seller obviously did not know it's value?

Here is the conversation (school chat is in Blue, PM is in Orange) I have changed their names to Leader and New Person (********) so as to protect their identity in the game. I know that I should use their real names from the game, but that would be a breach of the agreement I signed with Papaya Play:

Leader: he forgot to add 3 zeros on it.
Leader: You could warn him, or take advantage of him
    Me: I bought it
Leader: You should offer to sell it back to him Otherwise you've made a permanent enemy, or company
Me: It says I can't use it yet
Leader: Right. Sell it back to him
PM from Leader: You aren't going to sell it back and tell you noticed his mistake on the price?
    Me: I can't use PM
    Me: Leader's Name
New PM Person:  did you just buy a ship?
Me: Someone named ********* sent me a PM but I can't reply in PM yet
Leader: Try to make a friend of *********, the person you bought it from
Leader: then you can talk to them

At this point I started a chat room to talk to the New Person who had PM'd me (Green is Chat Room)

    Me: I cant use PM
Me: I did buy a ship
New Person: not my ship but a friend of mines
Me: What is your friend's name?
    PAUSE FOR 57 SECONDS
New Person: are you the Leader's alt?
Me: You said it was your friend's ship, what is your friend's name please?
PAUSE FOR 1 MINUTE 48 SECONDS
Me: I think you and the Leader are trying to run a scam on me
    PAUSE FOR 55 SECONDS
New Person: I'm not running any scam
New Person: I've been playing this game for over 7 years and never cheated anyone
Me: Then what was the captain's name that had the ship for sale?
New Person: I think you are running a scam
Me: You said it was your friend's ship
Me: So what is your friend's name please?
New Person: You should PM the person you bought the ship from
New Person: and offer it back at a profit
New Person: It's the right thing to do!!!
Me: You are trying to scam me. You said it was a friend and you lied. You are Blocked

    Back to school chat:

Me: you and ******** are trying to run a scam on me because you said it was her ship and she says it is a friend's ship
Me: I know the captain's name and she doesn't
Me: Do you know the captain's name?
Leader: I'm not scamming. I don't care who it is. I was suggesting you friend the seller.
Leader: if ********* is not the seller, you are right not to answer.
Me: Yeah, you said it was her and she said it is a friend's
Me: Okay Leader, what was the name of the captain? ******** is saying it is a friend's ship, you sent me a pm saying that I should contact the captain.
Leader: Because the captain sold it by mistake

Now what is so funny about this is I asked both the Leader and the New Person what company they belonged to, neither one would tell me. I saw the Leader later on and he is the Director of TheCollective which is based in London. A while later I came across the New Person and found that they are also a member of TheCollective. I bet any amount of money that when the GMs check the server logs, they will see a conversation between the Leader and the New Person where they would try to get the ship away from me. They will find the scam, and I hope, deal with them both.

The sole purpose of this topic is to warn other players NOT to join TheCollective company based in London because their leader and someone else in that company are trying to run scams. Their Leader said that he has played the game for over 8 years. I could care less if they played for 7 to 8 years, months, weeks or even days. All I care about is that these scammers do not continue trying to hurt others.

So if you are a member of TheCollective based in London, and you do not like people who scam, I suggest you leave that company and find a better one. If you are looking for a company, don't join TheCollective because their leadership likes to scam others. There are many other companies in the game which are better and care about others more.

disclaimer: i am among the oldest UWO players i know not someones alt, second i am in no way related to the seller, the company you mention or its members.

with that out of the way, if he only missed 3 0's it was still practically a gift, since the original owner certainly didn't know what he was selling, it saddens me to see players fighting over who benefits from the ignorance of a fellow player, which is likely to lose interest in the game with a community like that.

I would personally give it back but only to the actual owner which i bough from, your actions while reprensible from my point of view, are valid.

however, i do believe that posting a Company Name and requesting for it to be disolved and directly blaming his leader which is widely available info still falls under naming and shaming.

    •  i am pretty sure you buying that ship is not something the GMs will meddle with all deals are final and the parts are responsible from their part.
    • i also believe that them asking you to return the ship is not a ban able offense.
    • i think even they declaring open war to you and setting their whole fleet to sink you on sight is not ban able, there have been such feuds previously.
    • but i suspect that you posting this thread is something they could request you to be banned for.
also notice YOUR transcripts are not proof of anything, and you used a barely active account on forum for this post which makes it even worse for your position.

Like Edge, I've been around forever, since the first minute of launch, and have nothing to do with this group.

I also don't think what they said was bannable, or even a "scam". I didn't see them asking for you to give it to them, only to contact the seller and offer it back.

Now, it's perfectly within your right to keep the ship. But, I, personally, would try to contact the original seller and see about getting it back to them. Now, I wouldn't be above asking for some kind of reimbursement. Not the full value of the ship, but if you're helping them make a bil in profit, I don't see why they couldn't toss you a couple hundred mil for saving their butt.

    Just my 2 cents.

Too many scammers and not enough honest players send the game experience down the hill.

Time for GMs to ban scammers. Make sure whoever reports take video shot.

    Good advice from @Rhend78

If you give it back it's an act of kindness. You'll feel good about doing it, and the other guy will feel good because he's not thinking he's been scammed.

I contacted the Original owner of the ship, he did it because he was quitting the game. I was also contacted by other members of this company and threatened. Not just threatened to be pirated, but some other threats which I have reported which clearly are not only against the rules, but also illegal. I could, if I wanted to, contact the authorities and press charges.

That being said, I am still playing the game. I had to change my nation, name and appearance because of the threats coming from the leader, the new person, and the company members of this company. I have alerted the GM about this and they are looking into it.

I think it is funny because the Leader is still trying to find out who my new name is. I have seen him asking in WC and other chats. I do not talk to him or respond to him in any way. I don't trust him. Period. If you think he is a swell guy, then that is your opinion. I don't and that is my opinion.

I created a new character to use for other skills and joined school chat. The Leader was in there calling other people my alts which is so funny. I never said a word to him, just took the screen shots and sent them to support. The harassment continues. Also they have said that i have been banned from the game. That is another lie. I have not been banned.

So you can believe that this player is righteous and holy all you want. I know the truth and because i know the truth, I will never help them or any member of their company ever again. If any of them have a shop and there is something I want from it, I won't buy it from them. I am not going to support them in any way, shape or form. Also I am a pirate now in the game and if I see any of them on the sea, I avoid them because they are mentally unstable. They tried to scam me, they lied to me. I will never trust any of them again.

You should take a deep breath and think again whether calling a whole company "mentlly unstable" is a good idea or not.
If you got proof, post it (screenshots, not some transscripts).

not like i am calling you thin skinned or anything...

but the "ill call the authorities because you were mean to me in a  game" is quite ridiculous to me.

I am Otto_Ghome. I am using my wife's forum account because I haven't created mine.

TheCollective was one of the earliest companies on GAMA. Rachel and
I both played about 8 years on GAMA. Rachel spent many hours helping others in school chat. I have an idea of someone who might have carried over a grudge from GAMA, but there is no way to prove it.

That second "screen shot" was a re-typed (slightly) changed copy. And Razor/Rick thanks for not mentioning the company in your "screenshots" after throwing the company name over world and local chats, not to mention this forum entry. Very considerate of you.

Two people suggested he sell it back to the seller. *Then* Rick_O'Shea told us the seller was leaving the game. He did *not* say it was from a bazaar at the time. Why would someone *sell* an item if he was leaving the game? And as CaptainQC pointed out, an aide bazaar cannot sell ships.

Rick then proceeded to spam local and world chats for a while calling the company, and me, scammers.

I sent a screenshot of the spammed chat to support yesterday, asking that Rick_O'Shea be banned. I'm guessing that's why CaptRazor is in chat today.
