What makes a good MMORPG?

Could it be rpg elements?
Maybe chances to meet people?
Or none of the above?

Is this rhetorical? Are you making a point? Or are you genuinely asking?

Since no matter what this is purely subjective, there's no real objective answer to give.
Sure, one could say that if so as long the game is fun to play, it's good enough as it is, but it wouldn't be good enough for everyone.

What makes a good MMORPG is for said game to have real substance on there.
This game like many MMOs as it stands lacks substance.

The majority, if not all of Jiendia, is pointless. Pre-200 is pointless. Post-200 is still just a grind fest, and a majorly frustrating RNG fest for endgame crap, just to do it all again with the next endgame content. The game is just a damage race where classed are tiered for their damage potential because that's all that matters. There's not much support or defensive potential in the game at all since defense and evasion are both not useful.

What would make this game better in one way in my opinion is that if there weren't so many classes, or rather if there was actual diversity. Back then at what it basically La Tale's infancy, there was only four classes with four specific roles. Basically a fighter, a tank, a mage, and the explorer, or rather physical power, HP and defense, elemental power and support, and critical and item drop efficiency.

Having a bunch of classes, giving them a name, and an assortment of attacks isn't real diversity. It's like class tokenism basically. A new class comes out, it overshadows the previous ones, then becomes rebalanced to have the previous attackers match it's power while the latest class gets slightly nerfed. On top of that currently
Defense is so pointless as the effect of it has always been divided by 10. The Evasion stat is absolutely useless as 190+ enemies has 2,000 ~ 9,999 accuracy. Enemies become so tanky that acquiring more power is required. It makes everything kinda samey and has everything judged by their damage output creating the emphasis on damage and maxing criticals meta, which is one of the problems we have today.

Just wanna reply to @HigurashiRika and say that;s definitely the biggest issue.

Class mechanics were dumbed down on purpose to make "balancing" roles easier.

Balance Factors which made some classes better at mobs than others was removed. Meaning the mob vs single target dps roles were all but lost. It also reduced the significance of the various Wizard Elements too.

Rather than making armor for each class to give them different specialties, such as the Degos/Ymir days; Class armor has been streamlined to just 2 different sets, which has actually done nothing but make it harder to find parties cause now EVERYONE needs the armor that drops as opposed to the previous "1 of each class" dungeon rule.

I also notice things such as Special Hard attack of different classes got removed and other fun gimmicks to add variety. Guess balancing extra mechanics was also too much work.

Old gen LT was a lot more party focused due to the classes having clear roles that worked better in a party rather than solo. You brought classes with harder hits to KB mobs while squishier bladers quickly dps'd down minibosses. Other classes had stuns, sleeps and other mob control o get everyone out of a jam.

Now, everyone gets a stun or some form of damage immunity along with tons of mob damage so everyone can do their BIG SOLO.

That combined with the p2w elements and Infinitely scaling damage where someone can literally deal multiple times the damage of an entire, lesser geared party is what caused LT to be less social and more like cookie clicker online.

But thats the way the new Actoz staff wants the game to be so there's not much else to be done aside from repeating these issues while they continue.

you don't really need to answer to bigash

I want to say something rude but that will be bullying and that's a no-no, just know that responding to him isn't worth your time.

also this is what I believe is the core of an mmo, at least back in the days when gamble boxes didn't exist

    mmorpg core elements:
Content (this involves event and weekly addition to newer areas)
    Diversity in choosing classes
Balance of said classes (one class wont be better than the other)
    Social
    Spending Time

that last one involves how you spend your time, generally speaking you would spend your time earning money and visiting the auction house, or tried to tackle content you couldn't tackle before with a group of friends and maybe even fail, but at least you had a good time.

A lot of S1 players can tell you that they enjoyed mining for materials in Latale. Personally I enjoyed it as a means to relax after exp farming, also to make better and improved gears.

All that has gone to shit though, most mmo nowadays are all about gamble boxes, this one isn't an exception.

This one is far the worst MMO I ever played though, no actual content and the most annoying thing are these events they come up with that never seems to function correctly. you don't need to write a blog about this game to find out that it has gone to shit, I don't even think 2xe even wants to play this game anymore lol. Last article was what? October?

also I agree on the newer character aspect, the newer they are, the more broken they are. at least black anima will never die out cuz its an attack/buff hybrid.

Takes this game a year to make a new character while it only takes maplestory two months or something to make a new one.
