Santa Costume Upgrade Question

How do you upgrade the santa costume to the premium santa costume? I know it says 100 seeds, but I've already wasted a ton of seeds and it keeps failing. Does it have to be still in box or open and in your inventory? Someone who has already done it or a GM can let me know please? thanks!

    It has to be in the box. The success rate to get it to premium seems pretty low. I upgraded mine to premium in 22 tries

    It does not have to be in the box to upgrade it, I upgraded it on an alt of mine who had a lot of seeds after opening the box.

    7 fails till i did upgrade mine costume and yea you can upgrade costume both ways, while in box or after you open.
