Shipbuilding question about paneling and reset

I'm about to build a CFCV and I'm going to start out with a SSIR to reset back to 0/0 improvements. Since this ship's material is ceremonial metal, would it do any good to add metal paneling before the reset like you would normally do? Or just reset and go? thanks in advance mateys!

    Unless you are trying to change the panel to a better one or color change.
    I would just go with it as is.

    IIRC Ceremonial Metal is same as Iron Panel, so if you intend to have 1% more speed and durability i'd suggest to take up Nation Military Panel then do a reset after.

    Afaik all colored panel has the same stats(all metal the same and all wood the same), whether it's national colors or ones like Nobel, Ceremonial, Celebratory, Festival or Nocturnal..The only " better" military panel I know of is the Holy Roman Imperial Guard panel, which gives +10 to +30 durability and 0 to + 2 turn speed as opposed to all other colored metal panels that give 0 to +20 durability and no ships stats boost.

    There are certain special metal panels that are 140% dura/95% sail instead of 141%/96% of the base (nation metal panels). Ceremonial metal and festive metal panels are some of the examples.

    Aahh that's right, my bad. Is it the same with the colored wood(national wood +1 dura/speed over Nobel/Celebratory/etc.)?

    All wood panels have the same stats as Teak panel, at least the ones that were once in-game.
