Okay, I just watched Great, Forever, and Empire, clearly an alt fleet, race from Mars to Manchester and wind up 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

That is not cool, is it?

If it is, racing is stupid. There, I said it. Racing is just plain stupid and pointless if alt fleets are going to be allowed to all place right next to one another.

I used to participate those races in GAMA especially. I've won it several times and so other known players did that time. However most stopped participating at some point as we figured out what abuses are done.

There were two things I wanted to be changed during the race:

1) No canal use - In the past the canal time for Suez/Panama was per nation different between 4-12 minutes, but Ottoman players had always 1 minute meaning they had the greatest benefit. This is not longer the case with the current industry patch since canal is now instant for everyone.

2) Fleet forbid - Despite some likes to farm those race tickets including myself. I still don't mind if fleeting is forbidden. It is frequently used to slingshot the main participant so that he/she don't have to accel at all which means the participant has about 30-40 seconds headstart... With the industry patch you get also 5 % bonus speed up from being followed...

Before Industry was out, there were players already slingshotting since 2016 and it made me so tired that I did the same to teach them a lesson :x However at some point I stopped, especially in Maris as I find it pointless to do. :-(

Can't win the race unless you slingshot someone and being fleeted indeed... It is why I hope it may change someday. Also no worries, only one player wins the prize per IP address if you've read the rules. :-)

Such a shame, everything is exploited.

You could have the 5th fastest ship in the server but if the 4 infront of you fleet with alts your suddenly out of the top10

I have also had very fast players offer to tow me and then I must sell the prize and split the money.

I refused.
For me I genuinely wanted to test my ship against others.

I think it should be about ships only, no equips, no Oxford, no boosts.

I who has the quickest ship and who is the more skilled sailer/route planner only.

That would really be something to be proud of if win or even make top 10.

Have they eliminated the ability to instant transport or whatever they used to use t(Liner Tickets?)if you're in a race? I'm not sure what they were called, but they gave you the best possible time in a race automatically. If not, racing is pointless.

Of course all this abuse go on and why, no real moderation going on other then red text.

Maybe it is time to put meaningful contents back so that people do not farm those activities.

See here goes katana again. If anyone reads the rules it states the highest from the IP address will be ranked higher, but hey no one reads they just find reasons to complain. You all should actually read stuff before calling people cheaters. But then again would give no one a reason to complain if THEY actually read things first

But like @Kat says it's not a meaningful race - just another opportunity for the cynical exploiters to farm prizes.

A member of my company is really pleased about getting placed in the 90s. He's in line for a prize - but how long will that last while some players can effectively sell prizes?

Just stop this silly race and try to make some events where everybody can join.

In this race event there are a lot of people who can not join because their level of playing.

Most of the top are using alts, steam engine and heavy speed boosters.

The only working "event" is the bingo game.

Actually I have some questions about the Bingo Event,

Here it is.

It occurred to me during the actual game of bingo, a person could make a new character with the letters are called out.

I am not a cheater but I am interested in finding out if this abuse can occur because it seems possible

On one occasion in bingo in this server the letters of my name came up. I pm’d the GM - and the pm got thru - they then continued to release letters, and soon after said “we have winners” and I think 3 people won, but I wasn’t one of them, some had less letters in the name than I did, and it even continued beyond me messaging the GM.

So there’s another event I won’t bother with also lol

Here's an idea...drop the prizes given to 1st-10th place...or only give the race tickets. I have no hopes of ever winning even in the top 20...maybe 50...or more. I still do the race because of the tickets.

This last race I was on way from Genoa to London...so I figured why not? With my alt and main I won a few junk items, but also 6 renegotiation demands and a couple headache meds. That alone made it worth while.

The COULD put a speed cap on ships also. Less that 6min (or even less than 7) seems to be a bit crazy.

Just put the race through hostile waters, I can think a ways to slow some of you down a bit.... :)
