David received a ban and order to change his username : Hanukkah_Harry because a few of his enemies in game all got together and decided to report that is was inappropriate... Hanukkah_Harry is inappropriate... Really how is that inappropriate?

it's the same BS from OGP where they enforce by mob rule even if no infraction occurred. GM should have told them go F themselves and go block David if they "allegedly" were so offended.. OH Wait you can't block anyone due to the world chat bug I forgot... Remember back 2 months ago I posted this bug will lead to more conflicts and people leaving the game and you'll lose money... Seems another one of CPC's predictions came true what a surprise!

We have to stop ruling by mob rule because if some of my enemies hate me they can mass report that CRZY_PSYCO_CHICK is what offensive to the mentally ill people and I have to change my name next?? GM come on... Please rule fairly or fix the world chat bug please. Just this week in world chat people were saying it was OK to molest children YES you read that correctly if the victim waited too long to tell anyone... That was bar none the MOST OFFENSIVE chat I ever saw in UWO history.... No bans no mute no suspensions but Hanukkah_Harry is inappropriate and banned... Okie Dokey if you say so.

We sure that he got a ban for that reason? Not being funny but it does seem OTT for a name and having read the wiki page on the name I don't see a problem.

I ask this because sometimes from what I see on world chat is David likes to make a lot of new characters, some which I admit I don't truely think are Davids BUT often cross the lines.

Take one the other night forgot the name of person but was making a joke about pizza and jews, I won't say what fully the joke was for obvious reasons but that crossed the lines even for me and I'm quite laid back when it comes to jokes and political correctness bla bla bla.

Without actually seeing the screenshots as provided due to them not working I think there is more to this story than just a name.

He is talking about quitting. It is not a ban. But no matter what hobby or games he plays or even in rl there are people like that. So he can't quit rl and if he doesn't learn to not pay attention or just not answer them then it will happen no matter what he does

Why would he be REPLYING to Papaya if they never sent him the mail in the first place? Especially with that exact name in the mail title and more importantly if you have an inappropriate name you cannot log into the game with that character. Here's the convo I had with him as proof. Also you can't post exact responses in mail from GM on forum its a violation that's the main reason I never posted the mail Coolwind sent me saying that me reporting a guy saying all jews should be killed is LOWER LEVEL RACISM and the guy wouldn't be punished... Trust me I wanted to SOOOOOOOOOO BAD!

Well if it a ban I'm sure it's covered in the TOS, I personally without looking further into the name than wiki about the Saturday Night Live programme can't see a problem with the name, however there must be more of a reason than players hating or picking on him though.

Always has been and always will be 2 sides to every story, this included.

So, offending someone in UWO actually is a violation of the TOS? In other words, is an in-game "crime"? If that's true, perhaps I should send both Papaya Play and KOEI a list of the things I find offensive in-game regarding other players.......perhaps we all should. And then when no one's left playing and the server is closed because everyone's reported everyone that doesn't agree with them as "offensive", then what? Honestly, if Papaya Play is going to operate that way then I don't foresee a long future for Maris server.

I don't understand how people have such a problem with what is said in chat. You can just not pay attention. Or switch to a different chat or minimize chat.
Yes it would be easier to block someone, but just ignore what is said or don't respond to it.
I have a very laid back attitude towards most comments, but have also seen some chat that is way out of line and have survived......

Well look at this way: I cannot block people due to the chat bug and the publisher is unwilling or unable to fix. When I ignore people they just file complaint tickets and sailing in full private mode all the time just is not an option as I do play with players not on friend list or in the company. No idea whom made the Jews/pizza jokes but it certainly was not me or my alt. In fact the only pizza joke I ever made went something along the lines of if the radius of a pizza is (Z) and its height (A) then the volume of a pizza would be Pi(Z)(Z)a. I do remember players going on a rant about child molestation in all channel previously and they are mentally retarded methinks. And as for me I no longer care about my player name being inappropriate as I no longer have any characters. I will also no longer respond to forum posts or even view them again, I am gone. Bye.

T.O.S. : 6. Inappropriate IGN/Company Name

・IGNs/Company name that are sexually suggestive, offensive, or contain foul language, or are deemed otherwise inappropriate are in violation of Papaya Play’s Terms. We recognize that what is considered inappropriate can be subjective, so it is up to the GMs to decide if your IGN/Company name is appropriate or not.

・If we determine that an IGN/Company name is inappropriate, and it's first offense, the GM may change the IGN/Company name with or without notice.

・If an inappropriate IGN is used on the same character again or another character under the same account, it will be deemed as an intentional violation, thus a harsher action will be taken, such as temporary or permanent account suspension.

Now, from what I have read on this post, you clearly blew up about having to change your name. Perhaps someone felt your name was offensive to them and the GM agreed with them. I seriously doubt they would have banned you for that.

What I think happened is that someone felt your name was offensive, reported it to the GM, the GM pulled you to the side and told you that you would have to change your name because it is offensive to others, you exploded in anger, probably cussed at the GM, maybe even made some threats at the GM or demanded to know who reported your name.... then the GM asked you to calm down and you probably got even more irate and that is when the GM banned your account.

There are plenty of players out there who have offensive names and i applaud the GM for asking them to change their names. If they become belligerent with the GM, then I support the GM 100% for banning that player from the game. We are only hearing your side of the story. This is neither the time nor place to voice your opinion about getting banned. If you were only on a temporary ban, I would bet money that you have made your temp ban a permanent one now. Clearly you have a temper and I believe that is why you were banned from the game.

I get your point about lashing outband being belligerent to a GM especially if they were nice, polite and professional and I totally agree with you there.. However

Let's say I don't like you blink so F u over me and 5 other people who also don't like you all got together and reported oh my god blink name is offensive to us because your mocking blind people. The GM then pulls you aside and says hey you must change your name blink that you've had for YEARS. How would you feel about that? Is that fair?

The issue isn't are inappropriate names banable or if cussing out a GM is banable. The issue is when and how do we draw the line between players who artificially use and manipulate GM action falsely by either lying or banning together to deceptively force GM action on an enemy.

Here's an example of what happened to me back in the day of a group of players banding together and impersonating a GM to find BS deceptive SS to get me banned. It ultimately ended with that player being banned. So what's to stop this practice from happening again.

Basically who is truly "offended" and who is using the GM as a tool exact revenge on an enemy. Also more importantly how is "offense" determined by number of reports or the by GM looking and seeing... WTH is so offensive about Hanukkah Harry? ... If it's by number of reports you can expect to see ALOT more people all of a sudden getting "offended" by players names if its effective at getting rid of an enemy...

I have no problems with any one in game.

The biggest problems I see in this game, is the stupid decisions,being made from the GMs and UWO team regarding this game.

Another long term player gone because of people running the game but not truly interacting with the game or the community and making bad decisions.

Seriously though, what do you expect Papaya to do?

You can't expect them to 'police' the game. They are on a budget and trying to make money. We are the community who play the game. It's a problem with the community of players, not with the publisher.

In their shoes what would you have done about a complaint like this? If it looks as if there might be something in it, what else could you do? But do you think they want to get involved in silly/ childish disputes like this? Of course they don't.

Honestly if I was on the Papaya team I'd be shaking my head in disbelief. They are probably as pissed-off with childish behaviour as you are with them.

Grow up people.

I read some of these posts and it's like you are children in the playground. Fighting each other; calling each other names; making 'enemies'. And running to the 'teacher' 'telling-on' each other.

It's meant to be a game. If you are behaving in a way which makes enemies, then look at your own behaviour.

If we behave like adults these things shouldn't happen. Show respect to other people.

Hello Captains,

Papaya Play Team does not permanently or temporarily suspend an account for their first offence of having an inappropriate name in game, and his case was no different with other users'.

We have sent an email to him to let him know that 1. his character name is not proper as it includes an URL of a website and this may falsely advertise other business and 2. we are willing to change his IGN for him. However, as he already mentioned, he replied back to us saying that he has decided to "completely delete all his characters and accounts and won't play UWO again".

Since all characters were wiped by the user, we no longer have any issue with this case, which seems not involving other players accusing him of something he hasn't done.
