Battle Campaign Event

TimelyTimely Posts: 1Member Beginner
Ok so yesterday I logged into the game, was doing BR quest, working on maritime, lvl 38 so far, and right as I logged in I saw that there was a GM- sponsored Battle Campaign Event. So I figured what better time than to find out about BC and learn something. I went to the port and got transferred to BC headquarters, and I wasn't there 30 seconds, or even figured out how to register for the event, when the ones already there had looked at me, sized me up and my ship, and started with their "comments" making fun of me and my ship. And this was a GM event.....what happens at "normal" BC? I was using a Modified Nordic Galleon, with one skill, APB, which requires Arms 8, my Arms is much lower than that currently, as if it mattered. I got one-hit ko'd twice, (and it wasn't crits). I was really lost, as far as knowing how BC worked or what to do. I figured this was the best way to learn. This is just to give an overall sense of the attitude toward "noobs" in general. Keep in mind this was an EVENT. There is One player in the game who I won't mention here, who has helped me and is helping me some with learning a few things.

if the vets only want to have a private room for themselves that's fine. You can get a few of your friends together and create your own room to play in as well. Also this way you will be more on equal footing with your friends as apposed to going against decked out ships with that unmodded one you show in the image :)

The ego on this game makes me laugh. Keyboard warriors the lot of them that wouldn’t say a bad word to your face or they saw you in public.

I worry that this game is going to take a quick fall. And I think a shot catalyst to this is the “vets” aloof and dismissive attitude to anyone they think is not an equal.

And that’s not just referring to BC.

I’m sure Boliao will enjoy sailing around empty sea’s in his max modded ship and his max refined skills.

This is an old game, with poor pixels and know one knows about it, if you get an ego from being slightly superior in this game it’s so sad...your hardly world famous.

    People keep on mention “pro”

    Let me share the definition:

engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation rather than as an amateur.

Is there one person on this game that can claim that?

This game could survive the the egotistical narcissistic maritime “pro’s” could adapt to changes and share with others.

    Seems most of the can’t.

What is really funny @YinYangSparty is that you obviously don't understand what the 'ying' and 'yang' in your ign actually means.

If you did, then you would be more understanding of other people.

    Try googling your ign.

That nordic galleon is so poorly built...

With all due respect to OP, i do not feel like BC is the right place for you to go. A few occasional taste events with friends are fine. But not any serious games.

Before the OGP fall, me and my friends had one last night of crazy bc. We had half vets and half newbies, made rules like only single shot at newbie, not 5x broadside. Such nurturing is not possible with strangers.

Pvp in uwo is an expensive luxury, both financially and socially.

But meh, the game is at its end. Dont waste your time in its petty version of maritime. If you are serious about BC like pvp, come play world of warships blitz, free mobile game without any p2w bs.

I see what you mean Katanawauwo, and you are showing a bit more understanding than some who have posted on this thread (and a similar one).

On the other hand what did all the 'vet' Maritimers do when they first started? You were going into battle with basic skills, crude strategy, and rubbish ships and equipment - and having a fun time.

So you got the chance to learn without some 'vet' kicking you out of the room just because you were a noob.

Everyone is talking about the low numbers of Maritimers - but It's possible one of the causes is the attitude of arrogant vets.

We all need to be welcoming new players 'cos if we don't, they won't stay.

The BC on gama was usually very friendly towards noobs and lower leveled players.
At least in the games that I was involved in most vets laid-off the noobs, let them have fun, take part and learn.

I joined my first BC after i had my new MNG, pretty much the same ship as the OP has. That was a long long time. I made sure i had full evasion and double shot defence running the full time.

I sucked back then because i didnt understand the 2-second server scan mechanism for turning. I didnt know how to crit by instinct. Nobody explained those tricks to me. So i had to learn from lots of mocks with friends. But still it was still hard to compete in BC.

Then ganador came. I learnt to survive against 15 npc all attacking at me. Then i gradually improved my defensive ability. Also worked on cannon fighting ganador boss to learn how to crit.

I short words, BC takes commitment and sportsmanship. It is wrong for vet to reject newbs, but it is also wrong for newbs to attend without full commitment.

as kannata said, bc is "war". you should atleast make effort and show that your committed to it by gearing up "decently". when i say decently, i mean you dont die from broadsides...

when i started bc, i was using a modified square sail xebec (i had mis but i loved the xebec). yep, you heard me right, it was a xebec type ship fighting against MLA, AFCV, AATS, FATS, FIS, etc... suffice to say, my ship was weak but it was atleast fully modded. nobody turned me away because i was geared decently enough not to die from a single broadsides since i already grinded my evasion and i was geared correctly for the battle role im going to take. i also trained fighting npc's long before i tried to dip into pvp...

bc is maritime battle against real players not npc. going to battle half baked gets your team rekt...

bc is points based... you dying too fast too many times makes your whole team lose... your basically a point farm...

my advice, if you really want maritime, train against npc 1st. these vets are skilled to the point death only happens when they make a mistake or they get overwhelmed by too many people ganking them or they lag.

Thank you to the ones who gave constructive advice. Especially about Ganador, I haven't tried that yet and will at some point.
This BC was a BC event sponsored by the GMs and I think it was to probably get newer players to try BC as well as something fun for BC vets.
The criticism about my ship is unfounded. I already know it's not a great ship, but with 1069 dura and 75 armor I would think it would take a broadside hit. I was wrong. This is mainly a grinding ship, I may or may not improve it, the point is that I was doing maritime and logged in just as the BC event was being announced and I was generally prepared as far as a maritimer goes....not as a pro though.
Again, thank you for the helpful replies, and I read and I take everything with a grain of salt.
