Pet Training

A few things I'm learning:

You can now feed your pet AT SEA not just on land.
You can get "pet training skill" at mansion in Antwerp
In order to become Pet Breeder job, you need pet training r5, Biology r5, and Dutch language, quest is at Marseilles titled "Walking Together".

Any other discoveries or tips pleast post. Thanks!

In order to feed pet while sailing, it has to be in a state of "wanting food" i.e. if you get a notification about your pet.

No, I take that back. You just need to have one of your 3 sailing skills available, only using 2 out of 3 or less.

    Wait!
Are you telling me that the 'love collar' is for pets?
Damn, I was getting excited but you ruined it.

If someone says they want to sell me a love collar for me and my pet, I would not take that well.
May the winds blow you well

I've gotten Pet Training to R4 on my alt, and dog dog has the following skills so far:

    1) Area Search (Land)
Your dog will occasionally find stuff while you are procuring and collecting on land.  Some of this stuff is pretty neat; I've gotten sail paints, QMPs, SWMPs and PO3s so far just in Northern Europe alone.  You get some junk too, and it may take the dog time to find stuff.  But it's a nice extra if you were planning on gathering anyway.

    2) Scare
Decreases aggro from NPCs on land. Higher Intimacy with your pet means greater success at avoiding combat.

The regular cat (from the Venetian quest) gets Area search (land) at R2.  Still looking into other pets and skills.

How do you then train your pet once you have got the skill?

You raise the Pet Training skill through sailing around (like Navigation) or by letting your pets put their skills to use.  Every time my pet finds something via Area Search (Land), the master gets 4 proficiency towards PT.

To raise your pet's intimacy, you feed them and play with them.  You can force feed them to 100 intimacy, which is enough to get them to hang out with you while you bazaar.  To get it higher, you feed them at sea when they say they're hungry and play with them when they want to play.

To add, every pet has a different preference for food.  Cats and dogs prefer mixed food (meat), chickens like mixed feed.  Other pets will have different preferences, and Ivyro and the wiki may shed more light on those for you.

Here is a helpful link with pets and food listed. https://imgur.com/VOXRpbA

The preferred food is what you want to strive for, the accepted food is second-best.
