I understand that. I am afraid to buy any ship or waste my high end parts modding one because I know as soon as I do a better version of the ship will come out.
i Recently got the plan that Killadub used for his max mod FATS and am too reluctant to mod it now knowing that some better ship will be out soon and would hate to use up the 6b in parts.
I even got a dmoon in my coffers which right now are a small kings ransom to obtain!
I don’t blame Papaya for causing gambling addiction, but I do think they are taking the pi55 with some of the ships and items in the ticket. You can almost guarantee there will be a slightly better version of the Otto galleas and the flying cloud in a few weeks.
It seems the have 3 stages of the same ship.
Ship 1: a little better than FS Ship 2: a little better than ship 1 Ship 3: a little better than ship 2 (and best in game)
So the guy that spent all that money modding ship one now feels like he has an inferior ship.
I would rather just have a cash shop, but I understand why the loot box is popular. It gives you the chance to get that awesome ship and you can get it with only one ticket which costs little compared to what that same ship would cost in the cash shop. It gives those that can't spend much money a chance to have the same or better ship than those with a lot of spending cash.
I would love to see the return of the recycle bottle (or ticket). Would thin the garbage items.
personally, i'd rather see them get rid of the captain's tickets and just offer parts/gear/ships in the item shop. Ship prices would vary depending on the value of the ship, I'd gladly pay more for the exact ship that i need from a 'ship shop' than waste time on captain's tickets. As for the special consumables that the tickets contain. i'd rather see them offered in prizes for the various events in game that you can participate in (like ship races/ GM bingo etc...)
My main personal wish is that they raise the price limit for consumables in the bazaar. If we could sell some of these in bazaar instead of shouting, that would make things a lot easier. Raising the limit from 1m to 100m would be great, or even a 10m limit would be a huge improvement.
The ticket tombola gamble must make money for Papaya, so fair play to them. But the low population on the server means they have to fix the ticket prizes to keep encouraging the same people to spend.
That's why whatever ship you get there's always going to be a slightly improved version next month. There is no point hanging onto your good gear waiting for the ultimate ship. It will always be superceded by 'ultimate ship +1'. Plus your gear might get outdated too!
The other consequence I don't like is how production/crafting skills are becoming pointless. Recently the only things I've produced for my company are pet food and aide food. We are just too dependent on the cash shop stuff. Plus the availability of skills boosts and boost events means everyone's got high levels of crafting. Being a crafter isn't particularly valuable anymore.
Captain tickets = bulllshit scam period the drop rate for ships must be so low it take 30 geniuses just to figure out the math on it i have bought in game or with UWC maybe 200 tickets and not found one god damn ship if i had bought 200 sailors bottles from OGP i probably would have gotten about 10 to 15 ships and maybe 2 top end ones its simple papayascam sucks bunch of cheating Bastards
In 40 tickets I get at least 1 or 2 ships so far. Not usually top end ships but I hope that the superior high clippers are not so common that everyone has one 2 days after they put in the ticket. If those that are unhappy with the drop rate don't but tickets and just buy the ship you want with ducats in game everyone will be happy.
This latest ticket is a bit disappointing again. Once again they deliver incredible top speed trade ships and nothing in the way of a decent pirate ship. They give back item plunder then make sure that you can't catch anyone, lol.
I opened my first 10 tickets and thought WOW! 1. Dgaff 2. Dstorm 3. Custom Heavy Frigate 4. Steam boots 5. Crap item 6. Custom rope
Then I opened 24 more and zero items I could even sell....
Really only interested in the Dsails and imp shipside tank. The flagship vaiss is no big deal and the ambush Dragon is only 4 extra armor and 15 crew more than mdsc3, they did cut the hold by about 80 so it might be faster.

I would be happy to spend UWC on items like the +3 skill slot thingie and other character expansion items if they were in the shop.
Put desirable items in uwc shop at reasonable prices and the customers shall come.
And so far noone has answered my question on why they see loot boxes as a desirable (to them) business model.

There is so much stuff I can’t use or sell which I could recycle in ogp and likely receive a useful xp/prof/speed boost which I can use

I'd rather spend my money on a subscription.

Tbh there is not one ship I would want in that ticket, but I’m getting used to that and don’t sail much right now.
At least they released another version of the windjammer, we don’t have enough variants of those :p
I was so excited to see and nc sword considering I’m doing dungeons a lot.
I exitedly went straight to it.....”what is it / beautiful 100 att or more sword with plenty of great boosts..+3 sm +3sp +2 plunder?
Nope! 75 attack and small amount of boosts....boring lol
